Who: Actress Sarah Jessica Parker ("Sex and the City") and actor Matthew Broderick

Where: New York City

When: May 19,1997

The Ceremony: The secret ceremony, attended only by family and friends and strictly out of sight of the media, was an Episcopalian wedding performed by Matthew Broderick's sister, the Reverend Janet Broderick Kraft.

The Dress: The lovely bride wore a simple black dress with a full skirt. The groom wore a suit.

Special Touches: After the wedding, the couple held a sing-along with their guests, many of whom had appeared on Broadway. According to People magazine, guests also left the ceremony with a wrapped piece of wedding cake and a note from the bride to "Put this under your pillow and dream of your true love."

A friends Mum would say "I don't know how people could wear white to a wedding, white is for funerals"

I guess it is what you are use to.

It depends on your culture. In Asia, red is for weddings and white is for funerals.

I honestly don't think that colour matters because it's the ceremony, not the dress that is important.
