Ok so I cancelled my honeymoon registry: see link
http://community.i-do.com.au/index.php?showtopic=81582Most of our guests seem to be giving us money for the wedding, asking us if thats ok because the travel agency is hard for them to get to, or they would just prefer it, so I cancelled it.

Lissy, Juless and Mazz hope you Hens is an awesome party.
I'm keeping an eye on you girls you know. Is nice to look and rememebr when I had 4-5 weeks to go. lol
Rehersal tomorrow for the ceremony.
Just thought I'd give you all a list of things to remember
Have you considered what you are doing with your boquets at the reception? I bought holders for $10 each that clip onto the tables from the florist.
Have you done a mock up of your tables yet to see if everything looks right? I forgot to do this and ended up having to oder chocs at the last minute (A stress I didnt need!)
Ring you seamstress and make sure she wil be there the week before your wedding (Like I'm happy to sit here wondering if mine will even had the girls dresses finished as she has gone away til the day b4 my wedding!)
Have you decided if you want engraving on your wedding rings and if so what you want on them?
That might be enough to stress you all out for now lol
hugs

Marissa and Lindy - thanks!
Can't believe it's today. I'm not leaving until this afternoon, we are all getting on a minibus to Sydney. One of my friends is coming over this morning at 11 and staying for the day, then another friend of mine is coming over this afternoon to straighten my hair (even though it's already straight

Have a fantastic night tonight Mazz, Juless & Lissy. Can't wait to hear about it tomorrow.
Speaking of Hens. What would you do if you were put in this position?
I had a friend txt me last night asking if she could bring a friend to my Hens Night. I know her friend but not really socialably and only just to say Hi too if I see her.
I was a bit taken aback at first and then the more I thought about it the more I thought of it as rude and hated being put in this position. I'm leaning towards saying No, I just dont know how to say it and the reason.
Puggie
Oct 14 2006, 09:31 PM
Wow - is like a graveyard here!! Shows me what it's going to be like when my time comes - you'll all be off on honeymoon! Reckon I might go say HI to the December gals (kidding)!
marissa
Oct 14 2006, 11:20 PM
haha Puggie, i'll still be here til the 23rd Nov (thats when i leave for my honeymoon).
Buffy thats awefully rude of your friend to assume they could bring someone to your hens. I have a friend who would possibly do something like that, and people even warned me that by putting "and partner" on her wedding invite she might bring her friend along whom i only know enough to say 'hi' to... but so far so good. I dont quite know how you should say no to her coming because then you might loose your friend too (although she wouldnt be much of a friend if she ditched you because her uninvited friend couldnt come). Perhaps you could say something about the catering already being booked and there may not be enough for your friend's friend, or just tell her that you really dont know her well enough to invite her to something like your hens night, and that she wont know anyone else there. OR, just give in and have an extra person (so long as it isnt costing you anything to have her). Thats certainly a toughie!
Anyway, its bed time for me - i bet the "hens" out tonight are just getting starting though, LOL!

Have a great one girls!!!
'Night!

Congrats Mazz on the new job! Great timing for a high paying contract! Well done.
Glad to hear you Ladies all had good Hens Nights. 2 more weeks till mine but hopefully that will mean that most other wedding jobs will be done by then and I can sit back and relax.
Picked up my jewels from Manly yesterday and I love them!

To all those who were supportive through my major dress wobble a couple of weeks ago - rest assured that I adore my jewellery and the dress purely provides a backdrop. No piccies sorry as I am the only peson in the world without a digital camera but Camille is updating her website and is putting a picture of my lovely hairpiece on there so I'll let you know when it's up (if someone can tell me how to post a link?).
Enjoy your last few weeks.....

I hope you all had a fabulous time at your Hen's nights! I hope the rest of us had a good either productive or relaxing weekend!!
We met with the priest yesterday and he has given us the go ahead with our OOS.....now just need to work out who we want as readers!!!!
Today i am meeting with the florist, then tomorrow i'm off to dress fitting then going to w/town and st kilda to check out some photo locations with my bridesmaid, then wednesday i am off to the cake people to confirm the colour ribbon and roses for the cake then i am off to Fountain Gate on saturday to meet with the gorgeous Melbourne November twinnies

then sunday we are meeting with the video guy! I got an email last night from band asking for running time sheet and mc details for the reception (gee it is close when they are chasing that info up isn't it) and i think that is about it for this week! LOL
Lucky i don't work during the day i guess!!!!

Has anybody got a part in their ceremony for the parents to "give you both away" - pledge their support to the marraige and give you their blessing? I'm a bit stuck on wording and looking for inspiration? Just want something brief the celebrant will read and the oldies will then say "We do" of whatever's appropriate.
Suddenly time has crept up on us. My parents arrive tomorrow - yay!!
Puggie
Oct 16 2006, 10:11 AM
I'm waiting on Mum to arrive at my place. Today we're off to try on dress and bra together (ahead of first official fitting next Monday) and then we're off to the reception venue to discuss timings and THE MENU!
Did anyone else do this with their Mother instead of their partner? I ASKED HTB if he wanted to come along to the reception place (and he has the day off, so could if he wanted to) but he said Mum and I could do it

Anyway - so that's it for today - in the next week I have lined up: first fitting, first fitting for MOH too, flower trial and menu tasting.

Good Morning Everyone
So glad to hear the hens night have gone well!!! We are planning mine this Friday for november 3rd (delayed it a bit cause I am not organised!)
I know I promised so pictures (hiding from Kylie

) but forgot to get the camera! So shall do soon or bring them to the meet up!
Okay This Saturday 2pm??? at Howl at the Moon (Fountain Gate) for lunch then we can stroll over for a Krispy Kreme (and a jog back to our cars and around the carpark to work it off

)
http://www.howlatthemoon.com.au/fountaingate/food.htm if you ladies want to have a looksy?
We had our last meeting with our preist! And Puggie Paul hasn't been to a lot of our meetings (he works a lot!) So I usually go with mum and BM's as they really seem to enjoy it! Paul is only coming to the last meetings (and the first time he meets a lot of our wonderful vendors!)
Can you believe how quick its all going!!!!
YEAH!

hey girls!
we did the place cards on saturday, they were so easy to do, mum did it on her computer on the nice paper, we borrowed a guilotine paper slicer from someone & bought a scorer that you use to put a fold in the place card. only took about 1 hour for 3 of us to finish 200 place cards, i couldn't believe how easy it was!
just looking at the weather checker, it is so incorrect though!

Puggie - I don't think it's that unusual - I think it's positive that he trusts you enough not to have to be involved. I'd prefer that, than the micro management approach some couples have of needing both to be involved in every conversation and decision :-)
We don't have a menu tasting for our venue, but we have heard only good reports about what they do. They are happy to accommodate my gluten intolerance, which makes things easy for me. Yay!
I actually met a woman on Saturday who was bridesmaid at a wedding that was held at our reception venue a week ago - same format of lunchtime cocktail style lunch. She said the food was amazing, and they had a cocktail on arrival too. She said the event manager on duty was amazing - and she is the same one who is helping us out. So I feel really positive about how the day will go.
MJ2 - we don't have wording per se, but our parents will hold our Chuppah (wedding canopy) as a symbol of their support for the marriage. I would think that something along the lines of the following would be nice "Mr and Mrs x and y, do you promise to support a and b in their marriage?"
mj2
Oct 16 2006, 11:10 AM
Thanks Seedyem - that's perfect. Don't know why I was finding it so hard to say something so simple.
Carla - we appear to be expecting no weather at all for 4th Noevmber, or does this only predict rain? I was hoping for a smily sun?
Lady CJ
Oct 16 2006, 12:30 PM
hey mj2, no this only predicts if it will rain, mind you, it's not accurate, last week it said it would rain on 4 nov!
Domestic Dreamer
Oct 16 2006, 01:39 PM
I noticed the rainy days had moved. I guess as the date gets closer it becomes more accurate? I'm actually hoping for rain on our day and at the moment it's rain the day before so we'll see!
This weekend I changed my jewellery. Before I had a matching tiara, necklace and earring set but never felt 100% happy with it. So now I'm going for just chandelier earrings, which I picked up on Saturday (LOVE THEM) and no necklace or tiara. I feel so much more comfortable about the way I look, it's definitely more me.
Looking at my calendar I realise I'm 1 week away from the "slip-stream". My wedding schedule starts with things I need to organise a few weeks before and that's next week. Thinking about it makes me freak!
