We went to see a florist last night. She's not the cheapest, but her work is beautiful and she put's a lot effort into getting everything just right. I also want orchids and roses, which can be exe. The colour orchid that would suit my dress best is not in season at the time of my wedding, so she said she could get in white phale's for me and airbrush them a pale pink! I thought that was pretty impressive. We are going to see one more florist next week and then make a decision. So far, she is my favourite!

Gwen Stefanis new song is on, and I love it. Its the first one of her songs Ive liked. I loved No Doubt, but her solo stuff has been CRAP imo.

I think it was just the fact that I wasnt expecting to get a new car IYKWIM. Had we been planning to upgrade or something, Id 'prepare' better... lol I know that sounds ridiculous, but thats my thoery and Im sticking to it!

We also only took about 10 pics at our EP, and that was before everyone showed up. I was shattered when I realised. You just get so caught up that the last thing youre thinking about is pics!

I was really lucky with our Engagement photo's. The party was held at my BM's house and her sister just got my camera and went around taking lots of snaps. I think she got @40 photo's!! If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't have gotten any. You're too busy running around to remember photo's!!

Kathy, a nail question for you - my nails are crap. They split and break ALL the time and I don't really want to get acrylics for the wedding 'cause they trash my real nail. I heard about OPI and have bought some to try strenghen my nails. Do you know if this is any good? Is there any other tips you can give me to help?

Im back in Melb, got in last night, its freezing cold in my new house. I have a hat, scarf, jacket, socks and a blanket on me. I also have my lap warmer (my cat) sitting on me to keep me warm.

Ive been looking on the net and found some gel candles with shells in them , come in various colours, for only $1.50 each (for orders of over 50)... They would come in handy for the bombonaires, cheap as. I also thought we could put dried starfish (dyed pink) scattered onthe tables to help give a beachy feel.

I will have to have a better look when I have more time, sounds too cheap to be true. We weren't going to give presents but these will add a nice bit of colour to the tables as welll.

Just want to report that my wedding budget is NOT going to plan. Went to the Chadstone VIP sales last night and everything (and I mean EVERYTHING) was on sale. Many stores had blanket 50% off everything sales. They had to crowd control ppl in some stores.

Needless to say I have spent much money. Basically all of this month's 'savings' for the wedding/honeymoon. What am I going to knock off my wedding/honeymoon list in order to make up for my sins?

I don't need a wedding car do I? Maybe I can just send out computer printed invitations....

Some bad news from the Amanda and Paddy camp,

The stupid law firm he works for finished all of the lawyers up yesterday just like that thanks for all your hard work guys but Ive sold the firm and there is no room for you at the firm that has bought us out so seeya.


And then to top it off Amanda gets a call from reception venue to say that they are going into liqiudation but are going to trade out of it.


I knew everything was going to good we hadnt had one hickup so now we get two in one day.They say things happen in threes dont they.

Kathy, that is terrible news X 2!!! Give my best to Amanda & Paddy! Did he have any idea the firm was being sold, or was it completely hush-hush? Hopefully he can pick up a new job quickly. What type of law does he do? If the Reception Centre is going to try and trade out of liquidation, where does this leave you? It doesn't really fill you with confidence does it? They may be there come March next year, they may not! Not good. Is Amanda going to have a look around at other places or just stick where you are and hope they'll be O.K? Best of luck with both things and I hope there's no 3rd!!

Thanks for the tip on my nails (both Kathy and Saffire). To answer your question Kathy, I don't bite or pick at my nails. They just seem to split, peel and break off as soon as they start growing a little. With my cuticles, I'm not sure what is good condition and what is bad??? They are smooth, with no broken skin - is that good?

I'll have a look around for those products you recommended and let you know how I go!

Kathy - no good about the job and the reception venue. I am sure that Paddy will be able to pick up some work somewhere, being qualified?!?! I woudl say that you could get another reception place, but that package that you had was amazing! That really is a double blow. Anything we can do to help?

Bec, I think that a meet-up would be great. You and Kate are already in Wollongong, so that's a start and I am always after an excuse to come there. Would just need a bit of notice (2 months?) - although that doesnt do much for the other ladies though.

Kathy, the long lunch was good. All twelve hours of it. We started at 12.30 yesterday and then I got home last night at 12.45 am. Needless to say I am paying for it so so bad today - I havent drunk that much in the entire last year I dont think. Urgh.

I dont think that I would feel so bad if it werent for the head cold that I seem to have contracted overnight. I can hardly breathe, I feel like I have been through a box of tissues this morning and I am so blocked up. I have taken a cold and flu tablet but it's just made me buzz. The one problem with long lunches you do pay for them the next day!!!!!!!

At the moment Paddy has a few options to go for they have gone over to the coast for the weekend to clear their heads and think about things.Everyone at the firm knew this was going to happen but they wernt told when and didnt expect it to happen as quick as it did.They didnt even let them finish the week.

The reception place has said that if they close we could still use it we would just have to get a catering firm to come in and cater for us.Well that is good as I know Amanda and Paddy really wanted their reception there.The big problem with that is we wont know when and if we will need to get caterers and as Armidale isnt that big there isnt that many caterers to choose from expecially at short notice.Im going to talk to Amanda about what choice to take on Monday so should know more then.

We would have had the looong lunch this afternoon instead, but the guest of honour who is leaving our department, his sister's deb ball is on tonight, so he has to be sparky for that. I think that we are going to let him off early to go home and have a rest. I cant type anymore here as I dont have enough energy to think.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. We did, except we went shopping for lounge chairs and neil, bless his little heart, the dag that he is, wore daggy trackpants shopping, and his mobile phone slipped out of his pocket in the process of sitting in lots of armchairs. By the time we realised, and went back around the shops looking, it was gone. It was turned off straight away, which makes me nearly 100% sure that someone liked the look of it and took it.

Anyway we went to the police and put in a report, so now we might have to fight optus to get a new one on insurance. (as he lost a phone in december when he was on an exercise out bush, he assumes a crow or eagle "stole" his phone, so he has already claimed a phone a few months back)

Lesson to be learnt there Never wear trackie dacks out in public

Morning all

**Sending good luck vibes to Kate on her first day of her new job**

I sent Kate 2 messages on the weekend, but she didnt reply - I think that she must have been very busy. It has just occured to me that she said she is going to be working for QBE in the mall in Wollongong. Who do I do all our workers comp etc though? QBE in Crown Tower, Wollongong. She has gone to work for my insurer and I didnt even realise!

Anyway, I had a good weekend girls. I woke up about 11.30 on Saturday and got up, had a nice shower and went down the street to get soup and supplies for the day (more cold n flu tablets, berocca and cough syrup) and then a few other things at the supermarket. I went and got some videos and had a lovely day on the lounge feeling very sorry for myself.

I watched (in this order) Muriel's Wedding (had never seen it all the way through before), Meet the Fockers (saw this at the movies already but thought it might give me a laugh) then I watched City of Angels, and started watching the Magdalene Sisters but then Glenn came home and we had to watch the footy and world poker tour.

Then Sunday I again got up late, drove over to my home town to watch my brother play footy, 50km away, and then thought that I might go visit a friend from school. So I did and it was fantastic. It resulted in me seeing four friends from high school who I havent caught up with since 2003 (that was the most recent) two of them I havent seen since we finished our exams at the end of 2001! So it was really good to catch up with some of these girls - one of them is also getting married, although in October this year. I cant say that what she has organised is what I would do, but that's just me. She probablly wont like my wedding either.

While it was good to see these girls, I cant see it becoming a regular thing.

Michelle, sorry to hear about your H2B's phone! I hope that you will be able to get a replacement ASAP!

Im actually secretly pleased he lost his phone this way. Now he has promised never to wear track pants outside the house (and gym) again. Yay I have been trying to achieve this for years hehe.

I hope Kates first day is going well also. Thru the type of work I did at my old job, I was forever recieving phone calls from QBE people chasing up medical reports from our lazy Dr's who took forever to complete them. We got quite good at telling QBE little white lies "yes the dr has recieved the report and he is in the process of completing it" Meanwhile it was still sitting in the pigeon hole while the dr procrastinated about it

No we didnt buy lounges, we have a cat who likes to claw the current ones we have so we are not game to get the leather like one we fell in love with (a 3 seater, and 2 recliners...BUT 2 of the seats on the 3 seater reclined as well and the 2 separate recliners were like rocking chairs..brilliant I tell u, for only $2000-ish)

But I need to get a job before we buy more furniture. This is only officially my first week living in Melbourne so will start sending out resumes this week, wish me luck.

I have had a look, but Im not too sure of the suburbs in melb. I thought for starters I would look in the local phone book for all medical centres close by and send resumes to them, and if no luck broaden my search. The thought of travelling thru the city for work scares me, so something local would be nice

yeah he is originally a Melbourne boy and luckily does all the driving. I panic when I drive in Melbourne, ok I havent driven that much but when I do its scary. We have a Melways which is great.

I am not a big fan of driving in Melbourne - although I dont really know as I have never actually done it. The whole pull to the left to turn right thing still irks me - I just cant comprehend it.

Well good news has come Amanda and Paddys way after the shocker they had on Thursday.

Paddy has got a job with another law firm and Amanda received an email from reception venue saying that her reception is safe and they have quite a few functions booked for 2006 and they will be staying open phew!

Apparently what has happened there is they have gone into what is called 'Voluntary Administration'and from what we can gather is they will put Managers in there to run the place so all is good again.

Except for the grey hair I got over the weekend worrying about it nothing a bottle of hair dye wont fix.

Laurette, hope you're feeling better! I hate feeling sick - athough the chick flicks always help. City of Angels is one of my favourite movies. I always bawl when she gets hit by the car.

I had a lovely weekend. It is Jase's b'day today, and we had a gift voucher to a swish restaurant, so we went there on Saturday night for a birthday dinner. The restaurant is in the Sheraton on the Park hotel, which is a gorgeous hotel opposite Hyde Park, so I had organised a room for the night (a good friend works for the hotel, so we got a good rate ). So we had a lovely night of indulgence - dinner was entree, main and for dessert, we couldn't decide, so ordered 3 and shared!!! My stomach was so full, but it was worth it!! The room was gorgeous with a huge black marble bathroom and separate bath and shower. Ah, bliss for the night!! We had a sleep in until @10.30am, then went to a couple of jewellers & looked at wedding bands!! Very exciting. There was a couple that I liked, but I'm still undecided whether to go sparkle or simple.

Overall, lovely relaxing weekend!!

Just found out last night that my dad is in hospital. It's been a bit of a shock. Luckily he's received the heart attack clear but they're still keeping him in for tests. Unfortunately he's all by himself in Brisbane as his wife (my step mum) and son (my half brother) are in Sydney for 2 weeks. Feel bad that he is going through this by himself...

My mum is finally coming down to visit us (from Brisbane to Melbourne) this Thursday. I've planned full days of dress-shopping for Friday and Saturday. We're doing High St (Armadale) on Friday. I've left the wedding organising go for the last month so it will be nice to get things moving again.

Step mum and brother don't get back for another 2 weeks. They're down in Sydney doing some special hearing therapy for my brother... Just called the hospital and found out he was discharged yesterday. Hope he's resting at home and not going back to work.
