Mum you are seriously out of control
*Breathing sigh of relief and thanking Laurette for diverting baby attention at least until January next year*
Incidentally Laurette, I did work til about 6pm yesterday, just wanted to get some work done as I'd had a bit of a lazy morning. Have also been up working since 4 today (couldn't sleep again) but the good news is that all of my lectures are done for the rest of this semester, and all of my assignments for my teaching course are finished. With the exception of 5 hours of teaching next week, my only commitment between now and the end of July is to finish the thesis! So hopefully sleep will return soon!

Kathy, you are a legend! Look at that stuff!!! What sort of ply wool do I have to get? PM me your address so that I can send it up please!
Amanda, go you - you're doing fabulously! So tell us, what 'degree' or 'qualification' are you actually working towards? I am sure that you have told us before... but I forget because I'm useles.
I told Glenn that I told you girls about the baby (havent told him about the whole forum yet), and he was Ok with it.. I told him that everyone was very happy, and mentioned what Paddy said and he laughed. So that's good!

Hey girls I hope you are all having a great weekend. N came home last night (yippee!) but goes back Mon for 2 more weeks. He isnt going to E. Timor. He tells me his sarg recommended him over everyone else to go to Afg. with aviation in July and N said yes he would love to. But whether this goes through or not is anyones guess. This trip would be 3 months so I am a bit happier with that.

I will need lots of virtual hugs and choc if he goes anywhere.

Michelle - Im getting the tim tams ready!

May 28 2006, 11:43 AM
Laurette,
You wont need to get any wool as I have plenty of baby wool the only thing is its all white so if you want it in different colours let me know and I will check the pattern for wool size so you can get it.
Michelle,
((((((hugs))))))
And chocolate coming your way.

Michelle, that is good news - I am very pleased for you, and I guarantee that I will be around with much chocolate should you need! Hell, I'll be here with chocolate anyway.

Did I mention that I think I am getting addicted to ebay? I blame our location, there are no decent shops here and its just too easy to shop via a click of the mouse. Laurette now you are expecting, I have something else to look out for on ebay (I can imagine N rolling his eyes at me haha)
So, do you want a pink baby, or a blue baby? Any twins in your family?
PS after over a yr on this forum I have just worked out how to type in colour.
Laurette
May 28 2006, 03:57 PM
Well, funny you should ask... there are no twins in my family, but lots of them in Glenn's. So there is always a chance, and it skipped his generation, so maybe it will be our turn! PMSL. Although all the twins in his family are all boys

I know what you mean about ebay - I had bought a heap of stuff on there for the baby before I was even pregnant!
We arent going to find out what we're having, but I think that we would both like a little boy first up

Twins are really strong on my mother's side - my grandma had 2 sets of twins.
Genetically twins are more likely to be passed down through the female side... But its still very possible that you might end up needing to shop on ebay for 2 baby outfits Laurette -but if you do it will be most likley Glenn's fault (although this might just make him feel more manly!!!)
Very tired and depressed today. Totally unmotivated to get out of my pjs. I'm going to get fired if I continue with slothful lifestyle...

Hi girls, just popping in to say hi.
It got so cold here this morning I pulled the blankets up, and when I got up I thought I might need a jumper. The minimum was a whopping 18 degrees, and Max of 29. Such beautiful weather this time of yr, making the most of it before the humidity and heat comes back. (its crazy how quick I have acclimatived, 18 degrees in Melb was a nice day for me!)
Jo - where the heck are you, come in and post some pics and a story pronto!!!!
Must be off I have netball again tonight, Neil came back for the weekend and leaves tomorrow at 5:30am for another week or so.
Mich
ps - the good news is I took my last antibiotic today, so bottle of champagne in the fridge - here I come
magnetique
May 29 2006, 07:05 PM
Hey Mich,
Talk to me about cold when it hits -7!!! That was the minimum in Armidale this morning!!! FAR OUT!!! It hurts my fingers to type in the morning...!! Hope you kicked some ass at netty - I was almost going to go and try to get a game this weekend, but I dont really know the local teams at all, I used to play in the uni comp which is an entirely different thing around here.
Hope you are feeling a bit more energetic Chloe!!!
I don't think I have a huge chance of twins, although mum's youngest sisters are twins, so there may be a chance? I know Paddy has twin cousins, don't think that will affect us though.
I'm thinking on taking the plunge and buying a Dyson vacuum tomorrow- mum - the Miele died again and I'm not paying another $50 to fix it again! So Im thinking on plunging $800 on a vacuum - only because we get a $500 resort voucher through Retra Vision. Anyone used a Dyson before?
If we get the resort voucher we are soooo using it for POrt Douglas in December, Break Free portsea resort!!!

I've heard Dysons orgasmic.
I really want one but we're in the process of debt consolidating so hardly think a Dyson can be justified. I want to know how fantastic it is though when you get it Amanda!
Seriously. I'm really down. On Saturday Alex and I missed our plane and then a series of really bad luck things happend and I ended up crying my eyes out for about an hour in the qantas club lounge. The good news is that I rarely get depressed and despairing of all things in life.
The bad news is that when it does happen, I feel like shite. I'll pop out of it in a few days. I hope...
Michelle - glad you're back on the booze!!! hahah Hope you ahve fun at netball. Your weather up there sounds fantastic. I was looking at the weather this morning and thought of you up in Darwin with your 29 max temp....
I'm storing some chocolate for you in case you need it for emergency later...

I must go cook dinner. I have 2 hungry boys who have just come home and want feeding...

Aww Chloe, chin up babes, I will share some choccie and champagne with you
We found out we are definately going to Melb for the long weekend coming up for a wedding. I am going to freeze to death. I still don't have anything to wear - I have no idea what to wear to a winter wedding. The best part - free flights to melb, thats the best bit about being stuck up here in romote locatlity - we get 2 free flights each a year yippee!!
Laurette
May 31 2006, 10:02 AM
(((HUGS))) Chloe
Michelle, I am sure that you will be right - have you still got 'warm' clothes from when you lived there? If not, it will be a good excuse to go there a day early and go Melbourne SHOPPING so that you have something nice to wear!
magnetique
May 31 2006, 11:18 AM
Free flights, thats good Michelle! As for what to wear to a winter wedding, maybe a long dress (if its formal) and a thick wrap or even dressy coat / wrap? I've worn a long dress to a black tie wedding and I have a faux fur cape...but I still froze to death cause the hall had no heating!!! What is the dress code? As Laurette said, a good excuse for some shopping!!!
Chloe, bummer to hear about your downer....at least you did it in the Qantas club where you can have some privacy and free muffins to make you feel better!
the Dyson, incidentally, kicks ass. The carpets have never looked better, and in fact, I filled the barrel after one go of the loungeroom

!!!!! It picks absolutely everything up, I love it! As my friend from work said, once you have one, you'll never go back!
Here she is:
magnetique
May 31 2006, 11:20 AM
I've called it a 'she' by the way because it doesn't do a 'boy' job of the vacuuming...i.e. it actually does pick up the crap, it doesn't pretend to!
Laurette
May 31 2006, 02:08 PM
Ah, isnt it awesome Amanda! You're right - once you've got one, you'll never go back. Ours is a few years old now and still works so well - any other vaccuum would be struggling by now.
---
May 31 2006, 06:25 PM
Ohh your dyson looks lovely. We just bought a new vaccum but we have no carpets here so didnt need anything to spectacular, but that is definately on my list of things to buy (this list is forever growing)
Yes free flights are nice - one is to anywhere to the value of $1300 we used that to get to our wedding and get a hire care, and this one is to his next of kin, so we cant exactly use it to get anywhere but Melbourne, but free flight all the same.
I didnt sleep at all last night, takes me a few nights to adjust to him not being there, so hopefully tonight I will sleep better.

I am so jealous - I want that Dyson!!!!
Hmmn, I still have a david jones voucher for $100. Unfortunately that's no where near enough to buy a Dyson. Damnit!
Want to time share it over to my place for a bit each week?

Ok feeling much better now. I've snapped out of my little 'downer' - thanks girls for being so supportive and caring. Sniff.
I've posted a clip of our bridal dance in our thread in the general weddings section

Totally not sure how comfortable I feel about this but... I'll leave it up for a bit and see how I feel about people looking at our dancing online!

Good luck with True Bride Laurette - I posted a reminder for everyone!
Laurette
Jun 2 2006, 02:57 PM
ah, good girl - where did you post that? That reminds me that I have to put a link in my sig
Hi girls.
Chloe I cant view the clip for some reason - its telling me to download and install something , which I have but no good.
Yesterday was our 5 yr anniversay, I celebrated it by myself

Im getting my hair coloured tomorrow. I got a cut last week and she took chunks out of it to thin it but it doesnt look much different just thinner. I also have an eye infection of some description now, I think now I have had an infection in every part of my body since getting here - dr reckons its from living in the tropics - ah gotta love the tropics. I should take our shares in the pharmacy I go to!
Have a great weekend!
Laurette
Jun 2 2006, 08:51 PM
Michelle, with the clip - if you downloaded the flash player that it tells you to, and you still cant get the video, get the 'http' link from the list at the bottom and put it in you address bar (it will be the same as what's already there) and hit enter and it should come up.
Chloe, it is amazing

Michelle, sorry to hear that you arent 100% but, happy anniversary from all of us - I hope that you will accept that as our congratulations for you! Have fun at the hairdresser
Laurette - legend. I just saw the video - wow very very stunning. You look gorgeous Chloe and I love the dress. Love that song you chose. Alex looks very suave too

Laurette - I posted it in General Wedding Related discussion as a new topic...but now I'm looking for it I can't find it?!?!?! Would they remove such a post? Hrm?
People had even replied to it too...including Kej and one of the other entrants... strange!
Amanda
Hope your all having a great weekend. I was at the hairdresser (for almost 4 hours

) getting colours in my hair, and there was a bridal party in there and the bride was a bit teary and her BM's and mum were so excited, taking pics and chatting.
It was exciting for me to be on the other side, I was getting a bit teary remembering myself at the hairdressers and how my 2 sisters started crying when the hairdresser put my veil in. Ah the memories. 11 weeks ago yesterday.
No doubt I may cry at the wedding next weekend - happiness seeing family members get married, and also happiness remembering the day when N became my husband to keep forever.

Sorry for the soppy post, I just miss my boy, he should be home mid week, I hope

Thanks girl for your lovely words of support re the dancing. I love watching Alex shaking his groove - omg, he was so so so nervous on the night. He didn't really relax until halfway through the dance when he slipped on some water - after that he sort of chilled out for the last bit and enjoyed it more!
Aww Michelle - you sound like you had a lovely time at the hairdressers (well at long time at least!!) The hairdresser scene from Steel Magnolias comes to mind - when they are all getting ready for Shelby's wedding at Trudy's salon.. Why do I know this useless information????!?!?
Neil will be home soon! Going to weddings now is such a different experience

It's more special I think - I was very emotional when I went to my friend's wedding about 3 weeks ago and it was a very casual in the park affair. Looks like you will be looking forward to next weekend!
Well girls, I have officially started the Thank you cards. My dining table is full of cardstock, glue, etc etc etc... Finally huh?
Is it wrong that I am having a glass of wine while I paste and cut?
Laurette
Jun 5 2006, 08:12 AM
Not at all Chloe... I have started on mine too, finally.
Although I was sipping coke out of a can through a straw, more bubbles that way - good for the nausea.
So Michelle you better get in here and spend some time with us before Neil gets back because no doubt once he does we wont see you for a bit!
Amanda, how was your weekend?
Kathy? Where are you! Come and play with us!

Hey gals,
The weekend was ok, but not long enough, and yet again I am back here trying to get my s&%#$ together and write....argh.... 2 months to go now...
Laurette, I have no idea what happened to that post, it just disappeared....other people had replied to it and all!!!! There's not even any record of it in my sent posts. Perhaps one of the other posts was naughty and the whole lot got taken off?? Sounds odd though...
Michelle, you holding up ok?
Chloe, alcohol is not an issue for thankyou cards, you need some inspiration on how to say thankyou in thousands of different ways!!!
I get a bit wistful when I see weddings too, and when I see our photos, I just want to go back and do it all again!!!!

........Big Sigh....
Just found out my grandma in Brisbane has passed away. It's very sad but at the same time its good news because she has been slowly fading for the last 10 years. The last couple of times I saw her she was pretty much unconscious and she has been bedridden for at least 5 years. I hope she is in a happy place now.
Looks like I'll be flying up to Brisbane again this week....

Oh Chloe, I'm sorry to hear that. At least you will get another trip to Brissie to see your family again. I'll be thinking of you!
Speaking of wedding DVD's Laurette, do you think I should give my guy a call yet? On 18 June it will have been 3 months since the wedding....or do I just keep waiting?
Laurette
Jun 5 2006, 02:52 PM
I reckon give him a call for sure Amanda - dont email him, because it's too easy for him to ignore you. Give him a ring and see what he says.
Chloe - Im really sorry to hear about your loss

Even though you may have been expecting it Im sure it is still a bit shock to you. She is definately in a better place, she has some good company up there. Sending you a virtual hug, some Lindt choc, and some bubbly champagne.

Thanks girls for your support. Think it will be hard once everyone gets together in Brisbane but I've just been keeping myself stupidly busy doing thank you cards. I've packed all my stuff so I can do them this week at mum's place. The funeral is on Friday and Alex and I are flying up tonight.
The good news is that the thank you cards are looking pretty good.
Amanda your signature is fabulous!!! Such creative fantastic talented girls we have in here

Our DVD isn't finished yet either. We've been promised within 3 months but we were warned it would probbaly take the whole 3 months because of all the editing they need to do - there were 2 video cameras and about 12 hours of footage on each one(!).
Michelle looks like we're kinda swapping places this weekend - well, I won't be in Darwin but you will be coming to sunny Melbourne:) I saw the news today it is something like 26 degrees in Darwin
