Chloe... thanks for the update.. Good luck with the shoe hunting, I am sure that you will find something perfect to go with your beautiful dress!
Beck, I agree with the others - go with the glitter. I love sparkly stuff. I am pretty sure that my hens night theme will be 'a little bit of sparkle'
My space bar on my laptop is giving me grief. I have to really bash it to get a space happening and it's annoying me.

What's the March thread doing all the way down there?
*bump*
Stayed up til 4 doing invitations. Still haven't finished - ran out of glue again. So far I've used like 10 cartridges of glue tape (it doesn't warble the paper/cardboard). Thought I had bought too much on Saturday - 5 exra cartridges - but nevertheless, still ran out last night. Must go buy some more today.
More printing, cutting, glueing and then envelopes. Think I've done about 2000 slices on the guillotine!
Back to work today!!!! *sigh*

Congratulations Laurette!!!!
Unfortunately, my postal service has not had the pleasure of delivering my invitations just as yet. They are about 85% done. We stayed up last night (after a full day's work and 2 hr dance class) til past 3 individually printing the names of each guest. Then we couldn't stay awake any more and just went to bed.
Maybe subconsiously I'm thinking if the guests don't get the invite, I can still pull out!
(or not!).
I hope everyone appreciates these invitations!!!!

Yoo hoo only me!!
We are in sunny Darwin. We arrived a few hours ago and headed down to the mall for lunch.
Well I cant remember what I wrote last time but with 2.5 months to go we changed the majority of our plans except the date. We have a new reception place and ceremony place on the mainland rather than the island.
Tomorrow we get the keys to our new place, it looks pretty nice from the outside, Friday I get my furniture back, my car back, and best of all I get Piggy back (my cat) after a month apart.
Well better go I have heaps to do, Chat later when I get my puter set up
Luv Michelle

Hi Everyone
Well today has started off really quite well. Chris is going down to see Father today to finalise our vows which then means i can start printing our Order of Servie booklets.
I have also made contact with the lady who is doing the alterations to my dress (damn having boobs...) and can meet with her on the 16th.
Last Saturday we also met with the lady who will be making our cake and came away quite happy as she can do everything we want and at a great price.
Now if only i can get my printer working to do the last of my envelopes i will be one happy lady..

Hopefully soon the little things on the list will be taken care of.

I am sure that she will be fine with it! And if she does say that she cant, you need to know now so that you can find someone else!
Reading your list has made me think of more things that I have to add... argh.
PS - Michelle will bein her new house by now! Or at least have the keys and have had a look around it!

Laurette, congratulations on getting your invites out and "bolding" off some of the items on your list
Good to hear from you Michelle

Look forward to hearing your new weddings plans.
Chloe, it sounds like i'm at around the same point as you with the invites - 85%. I'll be so glad when they are finished
Kathy, good luck with your move. We'll see you in a couple of weeks
Shell, surely the photographer won't mind. 20 mins is not that far. As Laurette said, it's much better you check now rather than have to find someone else at the last minute.
I've had a fun week. I picked up my veil (it's beautiful - I'm very happy with it

), bought a garter off ebay and bought my wedding lingerie - which I can't wait to wear!
I'm off home now to work some more on those invites! Hopefully I'll have them finished by the end of the weekend!

Can barely type due to RSI of fingers.
Tied little tweeny tiny ribbons around each of my invitations in a mad rush this afternoon to get the ones our parents didn't have addresses for, expressed posted to them (respective parents) so they can send them off themselves.
I didn't make the express post so looks like they won't get them til Monday after all.
And now my fingers are dyinggg.... dyingggg... dyingggg...
Seriously. there shouldn't be bows that little. They should just not exist. The minute you try to tie something that small and fiddley, a lightning bolt should burst from the sky/ceiling and strike you down. Or at least a voice booming down saying "Chloe, you should rethink your decision to make these invitations - or at least rethink that ridiculously small bow *echo echo echo*".
Anyways girls - they're done!
Not as good as your effort Laurette - I haven't posted mine yet. And now that I've finished them, I don't want to! I want to leave them there in my lounge. FOREVER!!!!

Jan 5 2006, 07:31 PM
Chloe, I am so proud of you! You look like as though you had about the same number of invites as us… I had about 90 invites go out, and tonight I have to put another together because we left someone off! Oops! Chloe, your invitations are spectacular.. your wedding is going to be one classy event – there wont be too many brides anywhere that will be able to match it, let alone top it, I guarantee you that!
I have had phone calls from my aunty and my maternal grandmother in Wollongong tonight – they were both in tears because they loved the invitations so much. They loved the wording that we used, Chloe, so no doubt yours will be a hit too! My grandmother hated the idea of the black dresses, but once she got the invitation, she was converted! He he.
Girls, I was just so proud to call these ladies my family at that time, and so proud to know that my mummy and I got it right together for once. I can say, that other than moments that I have felt with Glenn (like the first ‘love’ word and the proposal) this has been one of the most overwhelming nights of my life. I cant wait for him to get home from work so that I can have a cuddle… I cant wait to get married – all this stuff pre-wedding just adds to the excitement – but I cant wait to say ‘I-do’.
GIRLS – WE ARE GETTING MARRIED. It has taken a while to hit me, but it certainly has now! KATHY – YOUR DAUGHTER IS GETTING MARRIED! I have found myself daydreaming a bit lately, about the wedding. It’s getting so close.
Must go off and finish cooking tea now…

I love you Laurette!!!
(Still somewhat hyperactive and euphoric from finishing all that ribbon tying)
That is so wonderful that your family called to say how lovely the invitations were. Your hard work has certainly paid off!! I never entertained the thought that people might call to say they like the invitations...I'll certainly let you know if I get any calls!
I don't think it has hit me yet. I'm still hesitant to drop those invites in the post box. It feels like once they're out there, that's it - I can't control them! They will be taken away by Australia Post and I won't be able to call them back.
Also, they're so pretty on the couch. So many ribbons. I used up the whole roll - which is 50 metres. Can't believe I used the ribbon that was supposed to go on the OOS booklets. Now I need to get more.
Ahhh!!!!! more tying of small bows!!!!!!!!!!!! *feints*

I love you too Chloe!
I have just here listening to music on my lap top... all the various wedding possibles that I have... I think that I am definetly going to use Elton John's 'Tiny Dancer' somewhere... possible for photos, or looking around the reception section. Probably the photos, family photos at the church... thanks Jo! I love it... So does Glenn. Whenever I am in here working or something, and he hears it come up on the playlist, he comes in and dances with me and stuff... it's gorgeous. Still sticking with my original first dance song though...
I know what you mean about putting them in the mail box. I was really paranoid that someone would see me... It was a really personal experience, and should have seen the look that the lady who interrupted me got... You're right about it being a mental turning point, Chloe (I know you didnt use those words). It really is. We're getting married. In just over 2 months, I will be Glenn's wife. Mrs Glenn Chessor.

Chris and i posted our invites last night. He was so sweet, we had to put the stamps on them and he always goes crook on me when i put stamps on envelopes as i put them on crooked. So he put them on. He was so nervous and excited he got sewaty palms and everything, every couple of stamps he had to wipe his hands because they were sweaty.
Then he insisted we post them together.
I rang the photographer late yesterday afternoon and she said she knew where the wedding was so that was a relief, we also get to look at possible locations in the next couple of days so this will be good to.
This is really happening!!!

I'm so excited for you girls posting all your invites. I was getting a little teary reading those posts

Hopefully by next week we'll be ready too. Oh crap, I just remembered that we are going to use wax seals on the envelopes.....crap...that is probably going to take another week of melting and stamping

Oh well, if I get even a couple of nice calls like you did Laurette, It'll make it all worth it
Chloe, I love that picture with all the invites on the lounge. It's a classic. I can understand why you don't want to post them - they all look too pretty!

I got an email from the recption place with the correct spelling for the menus, so i can start menu construction!!!
I also now have 31/82 RSVP's!!
Our landlord finally got the air-con installed in our unit today

very happy!!
Melbourne was good, mum was ecstatic to see me, i surprised the hell out of her!!
Grandpas funeral was a lovely service, even if a few things went wrong like the cd deciding it wouldn't play, so we couldn't play his favourite song, and the fact that the florist forgot to send over the coffin sheath

at least grandma won't get charged for it but how disgusting!?!?!?

very unproffessional
Almost 2 months girls! Very exciting!

howdy gals. we are in our house. darwin is sooo hot. we have just been down at the pool which is about 2 mins drive away so its not too bad. poor piggy is hot too, she walks around panting

she loves the air con.
I will try and upload a pic of my hair trial
After the trial i went home and cried, i think the fact that she was the only hairdresser in the area contributed to us changing our plans.
The reception place was ok - but it was outdoor and they coudlnt comfortably accomodate us if it rained - which means we would fit - but no room for dance floor etc.
the cost of transporting everyone around was getting ridiculous
the wedding night accomodation neil and i had was backpacker-ish - not what we had in mind for our first married night. Plus is was right next door to where everyone else would be staying
there was no perfect isolated beach to get married on - there were beautiful beaches everywhere - but they had houses right oposite - not what we wanted.
The new place is in townsville, and funily enough is the place we had booked before i freaked out and booked at the island. Did I mention i am very indecisive. anyway I am over the moon with the new place, its beautiful - i dont have to worry about doinf my own centrepieces anymore because they are provided. I get to have a dj now, and my little sis has booked me a limo (neither of these were available on the island)
My hair is booked in at an award winning day spa so im hopeful it will be what i want. I didnt get to have a trial there as they were booked out, but i will go back to townsville a week before and have a trial.

Laurette's right, you sound much more happier and confident in your second choice of venues. And the services available on the mainland are obviously going to contribute to making your day extra special! Looking forward to seeing pics of yoru hair trial (second or first place when you finally go to the day spa one

)
Laurette I love your dress. You are going to be a beautiful bride 0 also cos you're such a beautiful person so its inevitable

Glenn is going to be UNcomfortable *wink wink* - just make sure you are comfortable with the dress tee hee!
My weekend was hectic. MOH came down for the weekend and we went shoe shopping again. revisited pretty much everywhere we had previously been. But....
I found a pair! They were the LAST pair. Seconds due to untidy finish on th edge of the shoes. They are leather (I was thinking of something more glamourous than these) and closed toe (I was thinking open toe) but they will do the job, they are high, and they will look stunning dyed black so I can wear them to work after the wedding! Here's a pic:

They have a scalloped edging (on the side and youcan't really see in this pic) that MOH pointed out will match the scalloped lace on the veil. They were also a bargain so guess they were meant to be. Other than probably being a little hot on the day (which is why I would have preferred open toe) they are extremely comfortable.

The scalloped edging:

Ok I'll stop now
Laurette
Jan 9 2006, 11:51 AM
Ah Chloe, looking at that first pic I was wondering what you were thinking... but the second pic, I LOVE THEM! They will look amazing with the style of dress that you have chosen, and you're right about the edging matching the veil. And like my shoes, you will be able to get them dyed! Well done! Yay! Yay!

Holy dooly I had a panic attack just looking at that list Laurette

By the way, I love your dress, you are going to make one hot bride - lucky Glenn
Nice shoes Chloe! I need to get new shoes too, although I love my pink ones, when I tried them on with my dress you could only see my toes sticking out, so we have decided closed in shoes might be better, and now its not a beach wedding anymore we can easily do covered shoes.
My list -

find underwear
work out how I want my hair

Update for me:-
Finally recieved the spelling for my menus!! I have constructed my first three!!
I haven't taken a photo of them yet, but it's on my list of things to do tomorrow morning and of course i'll post a picture here. I'm pretty darned happy with them, but i'm a little paranoid that they look a little bare at the top. You'll see what i mean..........
Not sure how to fix that bareness, i am trying to concoct an idea as i type...
RSVP update:-
We are now upto 36 out of 80-something, it's a bit scarey, i invited more people than i wanted there because i was counting on quite a few 'inabilities' and therefore i'd end up with not that many people, but everyone's saying yes!

I spose i've got to look at the bright side, everyone must love us!
I can't believe it's almost 2 months to go!

After a shockingly, frustrating day at work yesterday with my computer and printer i have started today in a much better mood and am feeling good about things for the wedding.
Chris is going down today to pick up our finalised vows from the church so that i can do the Order of Service booklets, and i have a rough one done from when we picked them so it should not take too much to finalise a copy of them.
My list is not getting shorter and shorter and i am lovig it!!!
It now looks like this
Finalise cake toppers
Buy belts for boys (to do with their present)
Find photograpy location (should be done wednesday night)
Pay lay by of necklaces for bm's
hair appointment for chris
ribbon for order of service booklets
confirm time for make up
confirm time for hair
decide on stuff for me
meet with organist
vases for tables for reception needed
wrap presents for bridal party
wedding cars
book honeymoon
guys to be measured for suit
book hair cut for me for monday after wedding
Yay it is getting smaller and smaller!
beckabunny
Jan 10 2006, 12:02 PM
ok, here is a pic of one of my menus:

Do you think the top looks too bare?
If i'm clever, i may be able to stick a small metalic butterfly in the middle of the top there, i'm not really sure if that's going to work though... i will have to experiment.
Other than that i'm really happy with them, although, the printer didn't seem to like printing over the butterflies very much, you can see how the ink didn't come out very well where the writing goes over a butterfly. I'm not really sure if this is happening because our printer might be running low on ink (although no warnings have come up telling me so, i have been printing off a lot of stuff for the wedding) or whether this sort of paper is not designed to be printed on.....

Hi Beck
I think the menus look great!!
I think where you have printed over the butterflies is funny is just because of the type of ink the butterfly is?? It looks great though!!!
I think they look great like that but i can also picture a small butterfly on top as well.

Jan 10 2006, 01:43 PM
Beck, I think that the menus look excellent. You have done a great job with them. I think that the reason the butterflies havent printed over properly is because of the paper, I found that when I printed on my rose vellum for the invites, I printed on the other side, as this is the side that I liked best (didn’t like the metallic silver on the roses) and also, it didn’t matter once the paper was stuck down, as people didn’t know that there was a right and wrong side to it. Unfortunately, I don’t think that there’s much you can do about it, regretfully. Unless you have one of those high powered laser printers, which I doubt many of us have access to – except at work. I am sure that noon will mind, they will realise why it’s happened. It’s OK!
Princess Belle your name has completely escaped me – having an off afternoon, sorry – but you are doing fabulously on your list! Wanna help with mine?
Girls, I have a meeting with the photographer tonight to pick our package and work out our locations etc… something else off the list! Yeeha!

Did any of you do your invite list thinking that if twenty people did not come that that would be great?
It seems like my invites are getting out there (and i am getting compliments on them - yay - so happy i was worried that people might not like them) and the ones i sort of did not expect to come are coming.
Which is fine but is surprising.
Its starting to get really scary...

I was just thinking that this would have to be one of the longest threads about, this one...
Michelle, are you going to post a pic for us? What does the job scene look like up there? Are you going to show us a pic of your new house?

nah im not going to post a pic of the part 2 invitation, its just a nice paper with updated details printed on it.
Theres no way i am going to make another proper invitation ever again, even if I am paid $1,000,000 to do so. I am so over invitations. Ok perhaps I would for that amount.
I might get out my camera and take a few pics later on of the house.

Hi March twinnies
I can't believe we are all (or some of us nearly) only two months away from our big days!

I'm starting to feel very surreal. I am taking off 2 weeks before the wedding, so am on holidays in just over 8 weeks.

So much to do, so little time!
Michelle, I'm so glad things have worked out for you. You sound so much happier with your changed plans

How is the unpacking/settling in going in your new home? Poor piggy. I feel sorry for the little thing going from Melbourne weather to Darwin weather. No wonder the poor thing is walking around panting.
Laurette, I went into the dress thread and looked at your dress photo's. I was so excited to finally see a picture of you in it. I agree with you and the other girls that it is sitting to high, but that aside, it is gorgeous and you look beautiful. You will be stunning on the day and once all the bits and pieces (veil, make-up etc) get added, you'll feel like ten million bucks

I would take your MOH to the dress fitting because your seamstress/dressmaker person will definitely know how it is supposed to fit and your MOH wouldn't dare to argue with her
Chloe, I love the new shoes. They are very elegant and will suit your dress beautifully - especially with that scalloping.
Beck, your menu's look great - and sound very yummy!!! Either with or without the butterfly at top, both will look great. I didn't even notice that the printing over the butterflies wasn't as clear, so I wouldn't worry about that at all.
Well girls, I'm STILL making my invites. Talk about never-ending story! I have now printed and cut everything. I just have to split pin it together and attach to the invite...oh...bugger....I just remembered....I also have to print both the envelopes and the RSVP envelopes. Crap, back to the printer I go! Then I guess I'll have to start on the OOS, placecards, bon-bon tags and menus....{hugh sigh} I'll get there...eventually!
I got my Junior BM her shoes on the weekend. She is my 10yr old sister. We got her beautiful white satin shoes with a small heel. She fit into the size 5, so it is first pair of proper "grown up" shoes. She is very chuffed.
That's about it for me. Time to go home and work some more on those invites
If I can't get back in here tomorrow...HAPPY 2 MONTHS TO GO for all you 11 March girls
Jo.
xx

Hey Jo good to see you. If I was closer I'd come and help you with all your printing, it sounds like you have a lot of work ahead of ya. At least its all for a good cause which makes it a bit easier I guess.

If I was in Sydney I would come and help you Jo... it's a lot of work, hey!
I have had a shit of a f***ing day... all wedding dramas.
I met with the photographer, who is lovely and perfect for what I want. her prices are good, i just have to convince Glenn of that. He's being a pain, as is my mother and as is his mother.. Why cant I just have what I want? i have compromised on the dress, the shoes, the invitations...so I dont know why I just cant have something that I want.
Sleepwell all
Love from one very pissed off B2B
