Hi Girls,

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas biggrin.gif Sorry I didn't get in here before to wish everyone the best, but I had a ridiculously busy lead up! I had the family over for Christmas lunch on Sunday and cooked my first turkey! I was very excited when it turned out perfectly biggrin.gif Despite the busy-ness, it was a lovely day!

Beck and mystical, I'm really sorry to hear about your losses. It's hard to lose a loved one at any time of the year, but particularly hard at Christmas.

Laurette, your invites look great! You've done a fantastic job on them biggrin.gif I spent all Monday and Tuesday working on mine. I've finally finished the front cover and have started printing the inserts. I still need to finish printing them and the wishing well and RSVP cards and then put them all together unsure.gif So much work, but I know it will be worth it biggrin.gif

Chloe, your dress looks absolutely gorgeous and it's only in calico!! It is going to be stunning when finished. Make sure you keep supplying us with updated pictures biggrin.gif It kind of looks "old-worldish" at the back with the little bustle. I love it!

Michelle, I'm so sorry to hear about your disappointment with the island sad.gif I look forward to hearing an update from you and I hope that the change makes you feel a lot happier about things. Did you also look around for another hairdresser? Fingers crossed for you.

Rochelle, hope you are feeling o.k. I don't know circumstances of your loss, but can imagine that this must be an absolutely terrible time for you. Stay strong and just remember that you've got your wedding to look forward to in less than 3 months smile.gif

Hope everyone has a lovely New Years. A friend of ours has a boat that is moored in Sydney Harbour, so we are spending the night on that and watching fireworks. Should be lovely. Be safe everyone and I'll "speak" to you in the New Year.

As soon as it turns 12am, I'm going to say "I'm getting married THIS year"!!!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Jo.

Hi everyone,

It has been ages since i have been in here and so much seems to have happened.

Its getting closer and closer and the closer it gets the more i picture myself wearing a wedding dress getting married and then i start to get scared - a good scared but scared none the less.

Am meeting with the lady who is going to do our cake this weekend and cross my fingers i hope it goes well. Coming from a small town we dont have a baker or cake shop as such that specialises in these sort of things so we just have to make do. She is a talented lady and i so hope she can do the design we want.

Also yet to find a location for pics - really starting to worry me.

Am also waiting on the newsagents to order me in some more envelopes so i can finalise my invites. All i need is a lousy 8 envelopes and it will be done - apparently they are having problems with the supplier - but its been close to 5 weeks - i want the envelopes now!!!!!

I have made myself a list of what i have to do and while a lot of it is small things, last minute things - like confirming time of hair, m ake up etc, i just want to be able to tick them as done, breathe a sigh of relief and relax.

Hey, do you guys think its impolite to take a bottle of wine to the hairdressers? I think i will maybe need something to relax me on the day (worrying stressful person that i am....)

H2B tries to relax me but he has little to do with the organising so he does not understand how much there is to do and how much has been done. He wont tell me whether the cars have been confirmed yet (one of the things i asked him to do) so i am worrying that i might be walking... Dont want to be doing that.

I think that is enough from me for now.

Hope everyone is well and had a good christmas and will have a good new year.

Shell

Hi All

Thanks so much for your kind words and sharing in my excitement about my calico dress - Jo, I have more pictures!

But firstly, Hi Michelle!!! So sorry to hear your island plans were not up to scratch. Its really hard organising a wedding at the wrong side of the country. Looking forward to the next time you pop in here to keep us updated with the new plans smile.gif

Shell - I know what you mean about the scary bit. My fear is being absolved by my sudden realisation that the dress is coming to fruition after all the arguments and disagreements and mind changing we've done about the design. I was just saying to Alex this morning - ahh! can't believe I'll not be single in 2.5 months time!

Hoping you girls can give me a hand with something. We've stuck on a lace trimming on the top of the dress and now we're tossing up whether to put the lace trimming all around the veil. I think actually like it, I think it gives a sort of 'holiness' to the outfit (although I'm not very holy at all). We're getting married in a cathedral so I think it would suit. Not sure if it is too much though - please let me know what you think?

Here's the almost full front of the dress with lace trimming stuck on one side, and no lace on the other. Let me know what you think:)

(Picture removed... for now smile.gif)

Please ignore the calico and black stitching where the boning is! Also ignore my un-made groggy face (had only just woke up this morning LOL!)
Laurette
Hey Shell

I dont think that it's ipolite to take wine to the hairdresser at all. My hairdresser is providing it! smile.gif he he

You sound as though you are very organised! Please call in here more often to update us, OK!

Chloe, I see that you are in here, hope that you grace up with a post...
Saffire
And a closer view of the top smile.gif

(Picture removed.. for now smile.gif)

Jo you're right, it does have a very old word feel to it - didn't think at all this was what I would end up with but I guess you gotta go with the flow. Hopefully this means I won't look back in 50 years time and think what was that?
Saffire
Hey guys mum's really upset that I've posted the pictures on the internet. She think I'm tainting the dress by letting others see it in its unfinished state. I'm going to have to take them off in a minute...

Very Soonnnn...

Kathy W
Hi girls,

Just ducked in to get away from paking for an hour or so.

Laurette,

Your invites look great.

Chloe,

I love your dress its beautiful and thats only the calico you will look gorgeous in the real thing.Your veil is beautiful.

Amanda just left to go home sad.gif But I will see her in three weeks wink.gif

Shell,

Take what you want to the hairdresses it is quite normal for B2B's to have champagne/wine while having their hair done just make sure you eat something as well as drink as you dont want to be tipsy walking up the isle laugh.gif

This is what Im taking for Amanda and her BM's to the hairdresser:

Champagne-Fruit Platter-Coffee and donuts

kathyxxx
Kathy W
Chloe go with the lace.

It gives the veil a finished look if you know what i mean.

And tell mum you have to show us your dress or its bad luck hehehehe

Kathyxxx
MichelleC
Chloe, i agree with Kathy, go with the lace. It looks stunning with the lace and it ties it in with your dress so gorgeously. I am so glad that i got to have a look at your dress before you took the pics of it off.

Mmmmm, i like the thought of being able to take wine to the hairdressers, i also like the thought of taking donuts as well. I was going to have some sandwiches and nibblies organised for home as that is where we will be getting the make-up done at but it makes sense to have something to nibble on at the hairdressers.
Laurette
Wow Chloe, it looks fantastic. I love it – go with the lace I think! You are going to look stunning!
Saffire
Thanks Kathy Shell and Laurette - Will definitely go with the lace smile.gif

Its really expensive lace but it works out to be about the same price as if I would have bought a veil from the shops without the lace so I think I can justify it.

Kathy - lol! Idon't think my mum think the same but at least you guys got to see it briefly!!!

Will be taking them off now wink.gif

We're having our hair and makup done at the hotel so I'm definitely going to be hitting the minibar during - but not too much smile.gif. Kathy, hmm like the idea of a platter, might organise one before hand...
Kathy W

FH hasn't hired his suit yet blink.gif

We haven't booked all of our honeymoon ohmy.gif

I've only just started altering my dress unsure.gif

I haven't sent out invitations huh.gif

Yeah, I think nervous would cut it.
Laurette
PMSL chef... it's OK about the invites... I havent posted mine either... they are going Tuesday or Wednesday! I havent had a dress fitting, and we havent booked our honeymoon.

Bah humbug, it will all happen.
MichelleC
I dont think nerves begins to describe how i am feeling - hence wanting (needing) the bottle of wine while having hair done.

Are you girls getting ready at home or at a hotel? I have not decided yet. We dont have air conditioning at home and i dont want to wilt and be sweating before i get to the wedding so i am seriously considering getting ready at a hotel? Is this weird?

It sounds like i am not the only one who wants to send out my invites early january - if only i could get the rest of the envelopes i need....

Where is everyone honeymooning at?
MichelleC
I too havn't had my dress altered.

Nor have i booked my honeymoon but am planning on doing so first thing in the new year!!

Yes, I think that nervous would be about right.
MichelleC
That one hell of a list.

Mine is not quite as long, but i am relieved to know my to do list looks like someone elses.

Man, all that stuff for one day!
Kathy W
Hi again

Amanda hasnt had her dress altered yet and the bm's dresses arent finished yet(they are still in the calico stage) she has her bridal shower next saturday that is when all the girls will have their dresses done.

Amanda is staying at a hotel the night b4 the wedding with her bms all hair and makeup will be done at the salon then she will get dressed at hotel and will leave from there 4 the church.

Her honeymoon is in Langkawi (sp?) Malaysia for 2weeks.(she wont take me with her i cant understand why even after i promised i wouldnt get in the way) laugh.gif

kathyxxx
MichelleC
Laurette i have just had a look at your pics and the bouquet that you have the first pic of is the one i want!! Except i wont be able to use tulips i will have roses and lisianthum(?)
Laurette
Hey... I am just having it with hot pink roses, and the BMs are just having round posies of hot pink roses!

We are going to Tasmania and SA on our honeymoon.
Laurette
I think that I am going to get ready at a motel too. FMIL doesnt want me to, but she's got her own son to worry about I told her, not me... so she can just stop fussing...
Saffire
Ughhh its so hot today in Melbourne - Definitely need that airconditioning on the big day.

Kathy - psml re not being invited to the honeymoon smile.gif We know you wouldn't get in the way biggrin.gif

We will be going around the world clockwise for our honeymoon. Malaysia to see my grandma who can't make it to the wedding as she is too old to travel. Then Europe and America. It'll be squashy so I'll have to make sure I buy some drugs to help us sleep on the plane - and stock up on heaps of champers hehehee.

The girls and I (and maybe mum) will be staying the night before in a hotel in th city. Haven't booked that yet. So we will be getting ready in the hotel room - the airconditioned hotel room. I get very grumpy in the heat. Like today. *grump Grump*

Going into the city now to pick up the lace. And look at shoes. My feet have exploded in size and can no longer fit into the original shoes I bought *sniff*. So will look for something that is hopefully on sale in the city. Wish me luck!
Saffire
Laurette I'm going to steal your list. You're much more organised than I am.

smile.gif

And that is one good list.
MichelleC
I melt in the heat and the more i think of it the more that getting ready in a motel room makes - H2B wants to stay in one on the night so i would have to check in eventually so why not check in early and get ready there.

Plus as mentioned - air conditioning - mmmmmmm air conditioning
Laurette
I reckon that it's a good idea - at least then you can take all your wedding night stuff there too, and not have to worry about that extra on the day
Laurette
Your honeymoon sounds great, Chloe. Good luck with the shoes. You can pinch my list.. Let me know if you add to it, and then I can know if I need to add that stuff also.

I see a new member lurking here... byron_ bride... hello!
MichelleC
I have just been on the phone checking out prices and it looks like i amup for about $120 wherever i decide to go.

Have made up my mind to book it tomorrow.
yes_chef
Laurette, I take my hat off to you. That is one hell of a list. I hope you don't have anything inconvenient like a job or a relationship to distract you! tongue.gif

FH and I are getting ready at home together and no, we don't have air conditioning. I don't have the full giant frock though so I reckon i'll be all right. FH is screwed though. He's in a tux. biggrin.gif

He did threaten to wear a gorilla suit but seems to have backed out due to the heat! Would have been hilarious.

MichelleC
My dad keeps telling me he will wear his blue work overalls, my mum finds this hilarious.

He also thinks that picking me up in the mack work truck is a good idea as well. Not too sure about getting into it though.
byron_bride
Well spotted Laurette! Thanks for the welcome!! I'm a March 18 bride and cannot believe how soon the past year has flown. I was just wondering if there were any other March 18 brides out there and saw your post. Thanks again for bringing me out of hiding laugh.gif
It's just hit me that we haven't ordered H2B's suit yet ohmy.gif
I have a to do list as long as my arm and I'm still forgetting to do things!!
When is your wedding? March is such a full month for brides... and it's getting close - Yay!!
MichelleC
Hi Byron Bride and welcome

March is going to come so quick, or at least thats what it seems like to me.

My date is the 4th of March, and my to do list isnt getting any shorter, just when it seems like i think i have it all i remember something else.

I guess a lifetime of love is worth it though.

How long have you been engaged for?

Shell
Laurette
I am on the 11th of March... you can see my 'to-do' list a few posts ^ up that way.

I think that I will keep copying this list over and I will bold things over when I have completed them. What do you reckon girls. I am sure that there will be more things to add to it.

Oh, another one... organise linen for the reception.
Saffire
Too...

Hoooottttttt...

Dying... Suffocating!!!

I'm ordering airconditioning for the cathedral. Don't reckon I'll get that through their strict rules and regulations though - they're not going to let us stick things to the pews, they're not going to let us install airconditioning for 1.5 hrs!

Welcome Byron Bride! I'm a March 18 bride myself so we are twins! I'll be getting married in Hot'n'Humid Brissie. It'd had better cool down a bit by March.

Just got back from city. No Shoes. Nothing. Nada. Zip. Nothing in white, nothing really in Ivory, and the wedding shoe place that I went to had really modern funky shoes but nothing that would suit my 'old world' dress. *sigh*. Might have to go back to the internet to search for something...

What are everyone's plans for tomorow night? (i.e. new years eve in case you're not ready for that yet!)

Chloe XOXO
Laurette
Chloe, I can highly recommend www.bridalshoes.com

They have a huge selection... it's where I got mine from - love them. Really good prices, quick delivery too. Dont get it confused with the site that has .au on the end... that's the one in Sydney. Mine came from NYC...
beckabunny
hi girls,

My 'to do' list is rather short, i only have;

place cards, 3/4 of OOS left to make, menus, decide what vows, and decide a few more songs and that's it!!

I'm getting ready at mums place, but she has ducted evaporative cooling, so that should be good enough.

I'm honeymooning in Fiji.

I was also planning on posting at midnight tomorrow to say "i'm getting married this year" lol

It is quite scarey how quickly time is slipping away.....by the time i get back from Melbourne next Friday i'll almost be down to 2 months!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Yay, we're getting married this year and Kathy you're little girl is getting married this year biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Hope everyone had a lovely New Years! We spent it on Sydney Harbour watching the fireworks from a friends boat with a small group of our friends. Beautiful biggrin.gif

Chloe, I can't believe I missed the new photo's of your dress and the lace sad.gif I'm going to PM you and see if there's any chance of getting copies emailed to me ph34r.gif

Laurette, your list freaked me out because I know if I started doing a similar thing, mine would probably be just as long ohmy.gif

Kathy, sorry you had to say goodbye to Amanda, but at least it's only for 3 weeks until you see her again wink.gif

Shell, it definitely wouldn't be rude taking a bottle of wine to your hairdressers. They would probably be surprised if you didn't! My make-up and hair ladies are coming to me but I'll definitely be popping a bottle of champers biggrin.gif

I was going to get ready at my BM's parents house as they have a lovely big house and Jase is getting ready at our place, but my other BM recently starting working for the Westin which is a 5 star hotel in the city and she is going to try and see if she can wangle a free suite for the night before for us to stay and get ready in. I'm crossing my fingers as that would be divine. It also has a grand sweeping staircase that would be great for photo's biggrin.gif We'll see how it goes!

Well, I better get back to my invite printing (grrrr). It is such a never ending job. I'll be glad when they are finished and posted!!

Hope you ladies had a lovely New Year's!

Jo.

Ok! Today i got halfway through making my OOS booklets.

I'm still undecided as to whether i should put purple glitter on the butterflies, but here's a sneak peek for you all.

Please tell me your opinion as to whether you think i should put purple glitter on the butterflies!

Beck - Love the OOS booklets and yes, I think you should glitter your butterflies smile.gif

Jo - have sent you an email tongue.gif (Shhhh I won't tell if you don't smile.gif) Your new years sounded fab. Loving the idea of a suite at the Westin - that would be fantastic! Hope your bridesmaid can pull it off smile.gif

Kathy - I had to say goodbye to my mum last night when she went back to brissie. Just when I was getting used to her company around the house she's gone and left. I guess it makes me appreciate her more and I'm sure Amanda's the same. You and Amanda are so close its beautiful smile.gif

Laurette - thanks for that link! I was hoping to get the shoes from a shop so I could try them on with the calico before mum left so she knew exactly what length to cut the dress. Unfortunately I didn't find any so I'll may consider ordering off the internet. I've already found a few shoes from that website that I like smile.gif

Hope everyone's new year day is good. Have people over, just about to start cooking lamb and beef roasts. And I'm at least two thirds through the invites. Should have them done by tomorrow *fingers crossed*
