I have had a bit of an ipiphony (sp?) this morning...

I think that I would like to have my BMs in blue, something flowing... with a chiffon wrap...

What shade of blue? We had stunning dresses at my sisters wedding, they were a midnighty-shimmery navy blue with a black wrap... GORGEOUS!

I was only thinking of my BM dresses last night, and I saw a really nice dress in on of my mags. A plain top (with thicker style straps) but a chiffon overlay for the skirt, but one dress IYKWIM... hmmmm... not described overly well... Kinda like Zoey Joys dress, but with straps and a straighter skirt.

Im picking up my dress on Saturday... I am feeling a bit better about it to be honest. Its just really 'heavy'. I pictured something more flowy (without being tizzy) but its a really thick, heavy (but gorgeous) material, and a very plain style. Hopefully I can jazz it up a bit somehow...

I decided last night that Im going to start putting some pics up. I feel left out without an album!

I am thinking either a two-piece dress for the BMs, heavy satin? I dont know. I want a sort of cornflower blue - it's a very precise colour that I am thinking...

I hate that when you get a stroke of genius, then have to find EXACTLY what youve pictured, and you just cant settle until you've got it right.

Ive done that with my wedder. I know in my head exactly what I want... and it will look bloody unreal... but i cant find it anywhere and I cant describe it properly...

It's OK - it's something like what I was thinking, just that I am worried bout having long black dresses outside.

Also, I think that something floaty, chiffon, would suit the day better.

What I love about that company that makes those dresses is that they are international, and also when you buy a skirt/top combo, you can always pick from heaps of different skirts - ie straight, three quarter, fishtail, princess, ballroom etc.

Theyre getting them made, which is great, but also a pain in the a$$ cos the dressmaker wont start making them til around dec/jan, and I have to wait til then to seriously think about what we want for them.

My sister might also be preggers, (TTC atm) so that is another factor to consider.

Im having my 2 sisters - one will be 31 the other 12. (so have to find a suitable in-between style that will suit them both)

Matts having my little bro (14) whose walking me down the aisle, and his uncle.

I am having my two best friends and Glenn's sister. I dont have any sisters or any female relos that are really close enough. My aunty volunteered at our engagement party, but she was joking round, so I told her she can scatter the petals.

Glenn is having his three best friends. Two of them I absoloutley love, while the middle one is a bit of a sore point.

My two brothers are going to be the ushers, handing out the bubble bottles and the OOS booklets.

Glenn's niece and nephew (their mum is one of my BMs) are going to be the page boy and flower girl. I am just waiting to see little Scotty (he'll be four then) dressed up in a suit, everyone will think that it's Glenn's kid - they look so alike!

His uncle is unreal. Hes the real blokey bloke (so's Matt) and matts family has a long history, anyway when Matt asked his uncle to be best man apparently they both cried!!! (omg I would be SO dead if they knew I was posting this in a public forum)

I get on really really well with his family (his aunty and I are uncannily similar in charachter/ temperament etc), and his uncle always gets really sentimental and tells us that we were made for each other, and hes so thankful matt met me and that 'he gets such a vibe when we're around' lol, its such a great feeling hearing it from other people.

Im starting to consider adding another person each (the brother and sister we met thru), but I havent broached it with Matt yet, cos Im not sure and I dont want to get his hopes up. Its really hard cos I dont have a "best friend" as such, Ive got 4-5 really good friends that I share different things with IYKWIM, and if I ask one, I run the risk of really offending the others.

Yeah I know what you mean about that. I dont have a huge group of friends, but more a smallish group. Carla (MOH) and Ally (BM) are equally as good a friend of mine, but I have known Carla a bit longer and lived with her, and she's taller!

I actually just had an email waiting for me from Glenn's best man, who lives in Brisbane. It was great to hear from him!

I have found another dress. This is the colour blue that I was thinking of, and I even love the style of it. I was actually thinking about this one for myself, and get a big skirt option instead, for something a bit more understated, but I dont know how the little jacket would go with a big skirt.

Im not so sure about the collar bit, Id just have it coming straight down, like a plunging sort of thing IYKWIM. and if you liked it that much, maybe make the jacket a full length so it skimmed over the top of your skirt.

I know what Im trying to say, whether or not im describing it right is debateable.

I see what you are saying Kate, but I really want a big skirt. My wedding dress is going to have the hugest skirt ever made. I think that if I was to have a longer jacket, it would look weird over a big skirt.

As far as the BM's, go, I like the collar - and long would also be good I think.

I have emailed the pic to one of my BM's - the only one who has email and am anxiously awaiting a reply regarding it...

I sent her the website addy and made it her first official task to pick out the ones that she liked - and this wasnt one of them.

I just really want to lose some weight, get on track with it, but cant seem to get my bum into gear. I have been to one bridal place, and cried because I looked so terrible in a big white dress! They only have ugly dresses to try on when you're so big.

I am well aware I have to lose weight, its becoming increasingly obvious, but I just have absolutely no drive whatsoever.

I had a gym membership but sold it, we start a new diet each week etc, but nothing is happening.

And unless I see INSTANT results, I give up!

I know everything I do wrong, but just dont change.

The fact that my dress is actually too big is no incentive either.

That's my problem too - I try something and if after a day I dont feel lighter it's like 'well that didn't work then' and I'm over it.

Kate, have you gotten anywhere with your cars yet. When I was looking for more car companies to check out yesterday I stumbled across a site that had GT's (based in NSW). It was www.wh!tew#dd!ng.com.au. It sounded like it would hire Rollers or Bentleys etc, but nope, all GT's .

Laurette, I really like the blue dress with jacket that you posted. I think it would look goo with a big skirt, but maybe with the colour a bit lighter. That blue in a big skirt may be a bit too much - depending of course of how bright you want to be. I still loved the other picture you posted in pale/ice blue. That was gorgeous.

I have now got another tick off my list. Today I booked our cars. We are having a Rolls Royce Silver Wraith (two tone silver 6 seater) and a convertible Bentley (also two tone silver).

I have just finished making our Engagement party invitations (for 29 May - yeah) and am thinking that while I'm on a roll, I may make some mock wedding invo's to start getting an idea of what size/shape we'll go with. I won't start making them for a while yet, but I figure if I work out now what we want, I can keep an eye on papers and prices etc and buy if something pops up.

anyway, must be nearly time for home. I've been trying to not log on while I'm at work....but I just keep coming back!!

Here's the story. Kate set me onto this website that's American, for Plus Size Bridal. Anyway, cut a long story short, I think that I may have found the dress.

It is $289, which means $380 in AU dollars. I am getting my FMIL to measure me tonight and see what size I am, and if they have one in stock in my size, it's going to be ordered in the a.m. Wow, it feel so so so surreal.

Well, I am about to go and order the dress...

I went last night round to FMIL's to get her to measure me, so that I could figure out on thier measurements what I am (eek a 26! I near died!) but anyway, she took me down to this lady that she knows who works in a dress shop in town, and she also sews very well. She showed me some BM's dresses that she was making, and they were beautiful.

But anyway, back on topic, she said that there would be no problem altering that style of dress (I am much bigger on the hips than I am on the bust) so she is going to do it for me. And also , because it is very plain (ie straight up and down), if I lose weight, it will also be able to be adjusted.

Wahoo.... Got H2B's credit card and I'm off to do some damage....

Im sh!tting myself about saturday. I really have to make a decision about it so I can either look elsewhere or go ahead with it. I just wish I could get her to alter it NOW, so I could see the finished product. First 'try on' was great, then the following 2 Ive just looked like a fat frump.

I think thats the problem... there is no great detail.

Its Ivory and strapless (currently has really thick straps that Im chopping off, and possibly adding cap sleeves or spag straps or something). There is beading that finishes just under my boobs, then the same patterned beading around the bottom (about 20-30cm band). Its got a decent size train, same as yours laurette and is zip up, but has fake buttons. Every 30cm or so between the buttons theres a little bow, which I hate, and want to remove, but my sister and mum are adament they stay (my dress, my choice ladies!) Theres also 2 'inverted darts' which I hate... I dont know why. I think they look old fashioned (opinions here please!)

See what I mean its boring... no "take your breath away" aspects of it. Its a very thick material, so I cant really do a great deal to lighten it up any.

Is the beading round the bottom in a straight band, or is it graduated? I love dresses that have a straight band on it... I love that look

I am not sure where I am going to get my hoop. I will wait for the dress to come, and the dressmaker said we might even be able to make a tulle skirt to go underneath...
