Chloe, you invitations look amazing! They are really elegant and so beautiful!
Tell me, did you do all the printing yourself? Or did you get a printer to do it for you and then you assembled them?

Hi girls,
As you are all b2b's I need some ideas on a gift I can buy Amanda as a special gift from me to her.It has to be something she can hand on to her daughter when she gets married.Im sort of trying to start a new tradition.
So what is the one thing that you would want as a special gift from your mum on your wedding day??

Everyones Invites are so gorgeous!!
Well done!!
Kathy, i don't really have any suggestions for you sorry. I'm getting a set of saucepans etc. from my olds for our wedding, so that's a fairly typical gift really.......
Maybe if you still had your 'something old' from your wedding day, you could pass it down to her to wear?
Just a thought......

Nov 29 2005, 11:30 AM
hmm no idea Kathy but its a lovely idea. Do you have something of yours that can be passed down?
Laurette - re: our conversation last night. I tried what you suggested and had a little bit of success. Thanks mate!
Well only 6 days til my lover boy gets back, I slept like a baby last night which was amazing I usually dont sleep the first night he is away, lets hope it continues.
Just incase anyone cares, I have 4 working days left
neil gets back in 6 sleeps
we leave in 15 days
my hair trial is in 21 days
we get married in 109 days - almost double figures!
Oh guess what, I got told yesterday that because of neils job I cant post pics of him on the net without getting permission from the army. so i might not be able to post wedding pics!
Laurette
Nov 29 2005, 12:59 PM
Oh, that is a bugger Michelle! I cant believe that! I guess that you could email us twinnies a picture and show, but you will still be able to post pics that are just you, yeah? Could you apply for permission, citing that you are part of a forum of wedding-crazed girls that need be be updated?
I am so glad that you had a bit of success – makes all my research worthwhile for someone else! I am very sorry that I had to cut you off so quickly, Glenn wanted to get on the computer and he was being a pain in the bum – you remember how I was cranky with him? Well, I had the shits big time so I just gave the computer up and went to bed.
Wow, I just cant believe how quickly things are coming up until the wedding. I guess that if there is 109 days until your wedding, then there must be 102 days until mine… wahoo! Only 12 weeks and 3 days of work until I get to have 6 weeks off.
You are good, having your trials booked in – I haven’t thought that far ahead yet!
Kathy, I think that the best bet for a wedding present that can be handed down is jewellery. It would be even more meaningful if you could hand something of yours down to Amanda, or if that is not an option then I guess that the best bet is to get something new. Maybe a ring or pair of earrings? If she already has those earrings that she is borrowing for the wedding, then they could just be a gift that she could pass down to her daughter on her wedding, and if she wants to wear them she can. Yes, I think that jewellery is the best bet.
I don’t know that my parents will get me a present – I hope not, they are already contributing enough, but I tell you what – my father better give me something good!

Hi girls,
Think i might go with jewellery then she can keep it and hand it down.
I dont have anything that I could use as an old thing for wedding so she will have to have new unless i find something at an antique auction.
The 70k jewellery she was given as a borrowed item was bloody awful it might have been 70k's worth of diamonds and emeralds but god it was ugly i have seen prettier items in kliens costume jewellery.but it was the thought that counts.

PS:Michelle i love all your little count downs.

I am positive that I replied to this thread... strange things are happening.
Rochelle, the flowergirl's dress is beautiful! My mum is making the one for Brittany, so I cant wait for that to be finished! it is going to be like my dress, with crystals on it

Michelle, I am sure that neil will be impressed. I practiced tonight too.
I have to get cracking on these invites... argh.. This weekend might have to be the time!

Hi Y'all.
This thread is doing weird things with the posts...??? *insert spacey music here*
Kathy I love your idea about giving something to Amanda for her to pass on to her daughter. I was thinking something she could wear on her wedding day that her daught could wear - which pretty much made me think of jewellry which is what others have already mentioned. If you found something really classic she would definitely be able to pass it on

What a gorgeous idea.
Michelle - I BET YOU CAN'T WAIT!!! I'm getting all excited for you about giving your work the flick. Wish I could do this sometimes. I've checked out your countdowns and it looks like you will have 11 days off work before you leave to pack etc. Good luck! Can't believe how time flies so fast! Hope you won't be away from I-do for too long during your move!
Can't believe that you can't post pictures of your soon-to-be new husband without asking permission!!! That's crazy. Would they know though? You could just post a picture for a day and tell us all to come in and take a squiz, then edit your post and remove the picture. We won't tell!!! Though its not the same thing I guess...
Laurette - I printed the invitations myself. I have a guilotine thingy so I'm cutting all the paper and cardboard myself too. I actually make cards for a hobby so I thought I might as well use all that equipment for something important for a change. I think I've saved some money but it doesn't really feel like it...
Just got home from dancing - feel we're sort of going backwards cos we've picked a really hard dance and can't seem to grasp it properly. I'm going to start making the bulk invitations methinks. I have 200 diamontes that will need individual glueing!!!

This is a picture of the flower girl dress that my flower girl is hopefully going to be wearing...............

I think i'm going to get my dressmaker to dot just a few diamonties right where she's got her hand on her hip........

Hey Rohelle your flowergirl dress is beautiful

I havent thought about fg dresses yet, I have the material sitting in the cupboard and will bring it up to the girls in Dec when I see them.
I just had a phonecall from DHA lady (defence housing) she was so bloody rude and spoke to me like I was a 2 year old, its made me a bit depressed.
Anyway better go.
Laurette
Nov 30 2005, 08:59 AM
Oh, sorry to hear that she wasnt nice Michelle! Not good! Did she have good news for you, or bad news?
---
Nov 30 2005, 09:31 AM
she didnt have much news at all. we just needed to inform her that we are driving a different car up to darwin than we were going to (car crash)
I have to pay for piggy to go from melb - darwin and stay in a cattery fr 2 weeks til we get there out of my own pocket. A friend who is going to sydney and doesnt require a cattery is being charged $500, so I can only imagine what this is goign to cost us.
I am going kill neil. he is out field and has left me at home, and the darling organised a house inspection (removalist inspection this time) and DIDN"T tell me that he had booked it. GRR so I have just had a removalist man here going through everything, and the house is a mess

I am so embarressed if I had of known he was coing I could have tided up, put the washing away. The poor man probably thinks that we are slobs as there is laundry all over the lounge room drying and mess everywhwere *sobs*
Laurette
Nov 30 2005, 10:01 AM
Oh Michelle – you’re not having a good day, are you? You poor thing. I am feeling very sorry for you right now!
I am sure that the removalist has seen a lot worse – I can guarantee it! Some people have no pride! He will be humbled that you were embarrassed, and if you explain ‘sorry, my fiancée didn’t tell me that you were coming’ then he will understand. It’s OK chicki, we still

ya!
---
Nov 30 2005, 10:44 AM
I know he has seen worse, but my hair wasnt brushed, i was wearing daggy shorts, a daggy shirt, no bra

so I definatley looked the part lol

I would be getting cranky at Neil when he gets home too!

So girls, I was just thinking… my last name is going to change in three and a half months… wow. So that made me want to ask you all whether or not you are going to change your surname, and do you like your new surname? I like mine!
I am going from Chapman (current last name) to Chessor. But it’s not pronounced ChessOR, it’s pronounced more ‘Chessar’, or even ‘Chessa’
So I am very excited about it due to the history with my father, I cant wait to lose Chapman.
Though I am a bit worried about my signature, don’t know how I am going to cope with a double s!
---
Nov 30 2005, 11:29 AM
I am undecided. I dont want to put my surname and future? surname on here but I will msn or email you the names so you can see why
Think along the lines of - Julia Goulia
Laurette
Nov 30 2005, 11:36 AM
I dont have a problem with people knowing my surnames... but I guess with the army it's a different matter. Hell, you cant even take pictures without permission!
---
Nov 30 2005, 11:49 AM
I dont have a problem either, just I know a few people who are engaged and might visit this site. They would find out all my secrets

especially in the sealed section a bit embaressment!
Laurette
Nov 30 2005, 12:47 PM
Yeah, well that's a good point. I guess that 'Laurette and Glenn' would give me away to anyone that I know anyway!
Hey, how much ribbon did you need for each invite? I am working on 50cm?
tamarajnixon
Nov 30 2005, 01:23 PM
I'm changing my name too. Changing from "Curran" to "Nixon" which i don't mind but it will hard to sign having the X in it.
Picking up my invites this weekend, and since we don't have our camera back sorry no pics but might bring them into work and then i can add the pics.
Big drama with our camera. It wasn't working for the 2nd time since we got it 18 months ago. Same problem so sent it back to canon. We rang last week to see where it was and they said it was sent on 2nd november so now it is missing!!! Very pissed off as it cost us $1000. More annoyed as my brothers wedding is in 4 weeks and we nor canon have any idea where our camera is.
Well back to work
Cheers Girls
Laurette
Nov 30 2005, 02:15 PM
Well, that’s a bugger Tamara!
I thought that my camera was expensive… apparently not! I cant imagine losing my $800 one, let alone one that cost a grand… actually, I would be very pissed off if mine stopped working!
How is harvest going your way? We are wet at the moment, so there is not a great deal happening.
I look forward to seeing pictures of your invitations! I hope that I will be able to post some for you all over the weekend. That’s the plan.
Glenn is taking me to see Harry Potter on Sunday, very excited! I was going to go tomorrow night, but he wants to come too, so Sunday it is.
I have a meeting with the florist tonight, so I am excited about that. Should finally figure out what is going to happen with my bouquet!

Sorry to hear about the job Beck - don't worry, something better will be waiting around the corner!
My name is changing - from Chan to Chan.
Alex and I have the same surnames. I know the govt will be researching our backgrounds (and the church probably) when they get our intention to marry form that we signed to say we were not related.
Alex thinks it would be funny for me to hyphenate my name - Chan-Chan.
I'm going to tell my friends he took My name
Laurette
Nov 30 2005, 08:56 PM
Ah, Chloe - I was wondering what was going on with your names... although I thought that I saw a Chang on your invites.. must be my eyes going mad.
I went to the florist tonight and spoke to her about my pink flowers. She is much more excited about the pink ones rather than the red ones, she really feels that I will like them better, and that I am letting my personality show.
She can do the teardrop all in roses, without tuplips, but suggested that we add a couple of oriental lilles, which I am happy with.
The girls will then have posy bouquets with hot pink roses and orientals, which will be good. Cant wait!

We have pick two of the ceremony songs - into my arms by nick cave for when the Bm walk down the aisle and isnt she lovely for when i do - at h2b request! I hope the string quartet can play them!

btw im not changing my last name but i do know a guy who changed his last name to hers!
HI girls.
Laurette your flowers are going to look beautiful. Im still waiting... I dont even know what type of flowers Im getting
Sorry to hear about the job Beck
Today is my 4 1/2 year anniversary with N. Do I get a present for today? I think I better go to the shops tonight and buy something just in case

Today is my second last day of work. There is light at the end of the tunnel. I wil definately be buying a bottle of wine tomorrow afternoon so I can sit at home and celebrate. 4 more days til N gets home.
Hope you all have a great day (tis payday today for us, so a great day!)

Dec 1 2005, 07:10 AM
Yay Michelle! Only two more shifts! Yeeha!
We will have to have a little thread party for you!
Just wanted to know... how much ribbon did you need for wach of your invites? I am allowing 50cm.
Sorry that I cut you off on MSN last night, my computer was playing silly buggers and wouldnt hold a connection long enough to use messenger

Congratulations on your 4 and a half year anniversay! Excellent news, and yes you do get to celebrate! Because it's payday, even more so

I have to wait another 14 days for payday (once a month on the 15th) - though yesterday was Glenn's pay day.
My new golf bag arrived yesterday (didI tell you girls that Glenn bought me new golf sticks?) so hopefully the sticks will arrive today and I can take you a picture of my present!
Um re: the ribbon, I cant remember right now, but when I get home I will have a look at tell you.
Can you play golf? I tried once and had trouble actually hitting the ball off the tee let alone getting in in a hole
Laurette
Dec 1 2005, 08:36 AM
I can hit them alright, I am a fairly big girl so I have a bit of strength, it's just getting it to go where I want them to go that's the problem... and then the issue of getting it in the hole is a whole other thing...
I have even bid on a visor on ebay - it's pink

That would be good about the ribbon, I appreciate it. Thanks!
are you going to use thin ribbon or thick ribbon? and how big do you want your bow?
Just a question on surnames. If I keep my surname - will I still be classed as Mrs? or will I be Ms?
Laurette
Dec 1 2005, 08:55 AM
Hmm, I would think that you would be a Ms, although you would have a marriage certificate to say that you are a Mrs, so you could probably pick.
My invites are the same size as yours, and I want a bow about the same size I think.
I want to be a Mrs,maybe I will just have to change the way I pronouce his surname. You know, like Mrs Bucket - she said it as Mrs Bouquet hehe
Hey do you realise, this time next yr we will be married. Actually this time in 6 months we will be married! arghh!!
Laurette
Dec 1 2005, 09:21 AM
I know... it's strange hey! I just cant wait until January 1 and we can go... we're getting married this year! yeeha!
I think that you should adopt his surname and be a Mrs

then your future children and you will all have the same name.
Yeah piggy has his surname. It would be nice to all have the same name.

101 days to go for you Laurette!!!!
108 for you Michelle (and Kathy) and all the March 18 girls

We will all be married in 3 and a bit months. That's scary.
Have you got a new mobile no Laurette? I must have your old one, need to update for the big day so I can send you a msg

I love the name Boo Boo. Im getting a puppy once we get to Darwin. I have my heart set on a labradore. I will probably end up getting a dog from rspca or pet rescue.
