Heeloo all,
The wedding i went to on the weekend was just divine, great service, great laughs, great food and exellent wine!!!
The bride looked stunning in a white halter neck with sliver embroidery and a small train.
The bms wore red dresses and the men in black suits with complimenting ties.
Welcome to our new members look forward to the journey with you all and thanks for your borthday wishes.
We endend up just having a party at home for my birthday which was noice. My bobby made such a wonderful effort to make the day wonderful for me - such a sweetie!
I have now sold my old wedding dress which is good - i though i would have some extra money to play with but i have just found out that i have to have all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled out in hospital and everything!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATHY - september birthdays are the best!! i think you should get your bellybutton peirced, i had mine done last year and i wasnt even that bad, just took ages to heal!
our celebrant is sending us some information this week for our wedding -
Has anyone else started to write their service or vows yet?
its not really somthing i want to rush so the sooner the better i guess!
I think apart from that the only thin we have left to do now is the cake and invites, but i feel like ive missed a million things!!!
Hope everyone is well

Just a quick joke i received:
THE WORLD'S SHORTEST FAIRY TALE
Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl "Will you marry me?"
The girl said, "NO!"
And the guy lived happily ever after and went fishing, hunting and
played golf a lot and drank beer and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

Happy Birthday Kathy!!!!!See? I knew your anniversary and Birthday were close together. That's what I must have read and thought they were on the same day - instead of a few days apart

Go on and get your belly button pierced. I've had mine done. Did hurt for about 5 full seconds but then its over.
Hi everyone! Wow, I miss a couple of days posting and there is soooo much to catch up on!
Welcome Mystic and Shazz! Congratulations and great to see you in the March thread!!!
Jo - congrats on recovering your wedding files

Laurette and Michelle - what are your bridal waltz songs again? I want inspiration! We're going to have a compilation made up by our dance teachers and they will choreograph different styles accordingly...
Beck - I'm living in melbourne but we're getting married in Brisbane so shouldn't have the whole commonwealth games issue - good luck though. If you have the wedding out of the city maybe your accommodation wouldn't be more available/cheaper...?
Nothing new from me. Work is very stressful. Hate working this week. We're working towards a very tight budget for the rest of the year and I've already committed to spending heaps of money. Stupid greedy customers are wanting more money and trying to twist my arm. Some people don't know how to treat others like human beings. Michelle think your people (the rude ones!) are starting to work with my people (also rude ones!). GGRRRrrrrrrr!!!
Sorry for the vent. Over and out.
Chloe (p.s. skipped dance tonight as well! *sigh*)

Like i said before, i'm not actually effected by the commonwealth games, the venue will provide tonnes of accomodation space, i'm also getting married nowhere near the city, i'm getting married in Mt. Eliza, so that's another way it doesn't effect me, i was just worried about the other people on this forum.
I was a little worried that other brides may not have taken into consideration how much the games are going to effect their day.
I was mainly just peeved coz i picked my date first, and they had to go and put some huge, stupid sporting event on!!
One of my friends who works at safeway, (aka 'woolies' depending on what state you're in) his boss has already told the entire staff that absolutely noone is aloud time off in March!! So he's going to see if he can swap his usual saturday shift with someone else, but it's a huge pain!!!
Sorry if i'm ranting
Beck

I guess the advantage for us having the wedding in March is that there might be cheap flights for the southeners to get up north, as everyone will be ehading down south for the games.
Ebony, very funny joke hehe!
Chloe - unfortunately there are way too many rude people in the world
My wedding songs-
The only ones I have definately decided on is my Bridal Waltz - "Into the Mystic" by the Wallflowers, and "God only Knows" by beach boys for straight after we are announced man and wife

,
other songs -
-songbird - eva cassidy (maybe signing)
-Days like this - Van Morrison(for after ceremony)
-Lullaby - Bond (maybe)
-Only time - enya (possible walking down the aisle song)
-Amazing - alex lloyd
-Michelle - beatles (have to have this, dad used to sing this to me when I was a bubba

)
-We are family - sister sledge
-Dont leave home - dido(before ceremony)
-thank you - dido
-come away with me - norah jones
-Your my best friend - queen
-Somewhere over the rainbow - israel K (for signing, we need 2 songs for signing, celebrant said allow 7 mins of songs for this?)
These are songs I definatetly want played somewhere.

The songs i'm having are;

signing the register - Rock n' roll is mine - The Tulips

My favourites for first dance are;
One flight down - Norah Jones
Fly me to the moon - Frank Sinatra
Can't decide, but then again, can't dance either, lol

Wow! Thanks for the welcome girls.
Laurette, We have an issue with music as our tastes are so varied (i.e. Tim doesn't like what I like and I am not a huge fan of what he likes). All that I have confirmed at this stage is that I will be walking down the aisle to a instrumental piece off the Tapestries CD that I bought Tim on our first trip away. I would really like Amazed by Lonestar for our Bridal Waltz but Tim is not a fan (too slow but the words are good).
Kathy, I have bought the BM's jewellery and handbags as gifts. Last night we were looking at something for the GM's but only decided that we did not want hip flasks as they are quite common. At this stage we are leaning towards pewter tankard things but that will probably change.
With regard to the GM's I asked Tim last night to seriously have a think about what he wanted to do. The poor boy is having a really rough time of it as the 2 friends he used to be closest to are becomming distant (one has even moved to QLD) then he has friendships that are growing. I told him that he could have no one if that made it any easier but he didn't want it to look like he has no friends. So i think the deal is going to be that he will split the best man duties between the 2 oldest friends and have best men.
We went to another friends wedding on Friday which was great. Ceremony in the backyard (it is a very nice backyard) and lunch reception at a really nice restaurant. There was no bouquet throwing or dancing and the only speech was the bride and groom thanking everyone for making the time and effort to come and their families for all their support.
Well ciao for now
Shazz

Hi girls
Wow, you have been very busy in this thread since I left work yesterday! Excellent.
You are all so organised, and I am just… not.
I hope that my samples from the videographer turn up tonight because I want to watch them and there is nothing that is on TV tonight that I really watch all that much, so it will be a good night to get into them. Get the tissues ready, I am guaranteed to have a bit of a sook.
For those of you that asked, I am having Edwin McCain’s ‘I’ll be’ for my bridal waltz. I love it so much. For anyone that doesn’t know it, I can email you the mp3 file as I did for Michelle so that you can have a listen and see if you get goosebumps too… I still get them every time that I listed to the song!
That is no good about the cakemaker Kathy, but I guess that the most important thing is that she gets better and looks after herself, and like you said – at least you have a lot of time to work something else out.
My grand plan of having a three tiered cake with fruit at the top for us to keep for our anniversary has gone down the drain…. Apparently as fruit is the heavier cake, it needs to be at the bottom. You cant put it in top of mud cake, because it will sink through. I guess that we are either having all fruit… or all mud. I think that it might be all fruit, as we are not having it as a dessert, it will be only to go with coffee etc at the end of the night.
Beck, we wont have any problems with the Commonwealth Games, except that we were thinking of spending a bit of time in Melbourne on our honeymoon, but accommodation will be scarce and expensive there. When we are in Tassie I might jump on wotif.com and see if we can snap anything up, but if we cant we will stay somewhere else, and not worry too much about it. Booking accommodation now would defeat the whole purpose of our honeymoon.
Other song choices for me are;
Processional
Bond – Lullaby
DJ Sammy – Heaven (Candelight Remix)
Signing of the Register
Angry Anderson – Suddenly
Kelly Clarkson – A moment like this
Recessional
Starship – Nothing’s gonna stop us now
I haven’t decided on too much more at this stage – I have the list of music, just not too sure where to put it all. When I get home I will get the list and you can all help me figure out which songs go where, K??

Following on from the joke that was posted, I just got this one that I thought some of you might get a laugh out of...
Every day, a male co-worker walks up very close to a lady standing at the coffee machine, inhales a big breath of air and tells her that her hair smells nice.
After a week of this, she can't stand it anymore, takes her complaint to a supervisor in the personnel department and states that she wants to write a sexual harassment grievance against him.
The Human Resources supervisor is puzzled by this decision and asks, "What's sexually threatening about a co-worker telling you your hair smells nice?"
The woman replies, "It's Keith, the dwarf."

Michelle, I was just looking at your photos - I want to say two things;
1 - Your sample invitations look amazing
2 - How on earth did your cat get up on top of the screen door? And Why?
---
Sep 20 2005, 11:55 AM
1. The sample invitations - thanks, that was just a quick practice. Now Im thinking I dont want the square invites, Im thinking along the lines of a tall slim one, dont know the size - you get three of them out of an A4 card anyway. Envelopes would be cheaper too. Only other thing I might change is to have thick ribbon instead of the thin ribbon?
2. My cat. Well she clawed her way up there. She likes being high up. She will sit on top of the shower screen and watch us in the shower

I dont know how she manages to climb up there as its all glass and its like 2 centimeters thick up there, but she manages to balance. I will have to take a pic of that. We were wondering how the enyo bathroom glove always managed to make its way out into the loungeroom (we hang it over the top of the shower screen) and my body exfoliation mit. Then we sprung her, she jumps up high to get them and likes to chew on them and play with them...
Laurette
Sep 20 2005, 12:05 PM
She's naughty - but that's so cute!
That invitation size is called DL. That is what I am going to be having also. Less ribbon, smaller card, 3 invites out of a sheet of vellum, cheaper envelopes, less postage. Just seems to make sense, you know. I wanted the A5 size also, (half A4 size) but mum wasnt impressed and since she's paying for them, I thought that I better oblige.
---
Sep 20 2005, 12:27 PM
Yeah shes naughty but who can stay mad when shes so cute. This morning I was having a sleep in and she comes to wake me up by putting her cold nose on my face. I pulled the blankets down for her to come under, she snuggles up in my arms and we both fall asleep
Laurette
Sep 20 2005, 12:34 PM
Aww, cute.
I am rather obsessed my Icehouse at the moment. I have been listening to their Greatest Hits material and a remix CD that I have over and over - I thought that I would be sick of it by now, but alas, no.
Finally the sun has come out here... About time - my washing that has been on the line since Sunday might dry. No doubt it really need re-washing though.
For our BM and GM gifts, we are going to be getting engraved wine glasses (for me and the girls) and engraved beer steins (for Glenn and the boys) from www.kardellakreations.com.au - I think that they are really nice, and reasonable priced. I had better get to work on doing that actually.
We will also get them something else - the boys may get an esky and a carton of beer, and the girls will get their jewellery. That's the plan anyway, although we need to pick dresses before we can pick accessories. Blah. I am so sick of BM dresses. That reminds me that I must ring the dressmaker that I want and see if she can do it... small oversight there.

Laurette,
Kardella is the company I ordered amanda and paddys glasses through i also got personalized ribbon through them i ordered them 4 weeks ago and we havent got them yet so dont leave it to late to order what you want.
Also you can freeze mud cake I did this with amandas' brothers 21st cake that was left over and it thawed out fine so maybe you could have mud cake on top.

hey shazz, i know what your h2b is going through as this is what my man is going through - trouble is, he has already asked his GM!!! He has grown apart from 1 or 2 of them - nothing malicious just grown apart. They all live interstate so the natural progression of ending friendships has been more difficult as they are all living elsewhere. So not sure what he is going to do but he is having a big think about it.
The save the dates sould be done this week, h2b is a sample as we speak at his dads work. I went BM dress shopping - looking at materials and lace. The only nice lace we found was $150 a metre!!!! So i may have to rethink what we want. Back to the drawing board for me.

Hi Girls,
Wow, how much activity has there been on here the last few days! Great to see
Welcome Shazz. It sounds like you're very organised! Look forward to hearing more of your plans.
Kathy, glad to hear that Amanda has found someone else to make her cake. And much better to find out now than a month out from the wedding!
Laurette, I'd love to hear your Bridal Waltz. I'll PM you my email address.
So far we've only decided on my 'walking the aisle' song - All I Ask of You from Phantom of the Opera. Bridal Waltz will probably be Sway (because we met dancing and love dancing to this song). And we're thinking of entering the reception to I Feel Good by James Brown.
Michelle, your cat sounds so cute!

My mumsy is coming back down in October to help out with invitations. I asked them at work if I could take a week off and they said yeah no worries! Then yesterday I reminded them and they said Err you will be required to work some shifts! Bastards. I am still trying to get hold of mum to let her know

She booked her tickets last week after I said everything would be ok. Oh well Neil will just have to entertain her when Im not home. Unless I pull a few sickies that week.. thats always a possibility!
We are taking her to the Lion King yay I cant wait!! She is coming down for the 3rd anniversary of dads death I think she would rather be here and busy with wedding stuff than dwelling on it up there.

Hi all,
I finally sold my other wedding dress!! Send it off tommorow - such a relief to have it sold, dont know why though?!?
Booked in to have all wisdom teeth taken out on the 21st october yay cant wait - oooooh private hospital!! makes it all seem not so bad (mabey)
Laurette
Sep 22 2005, 07:30 PM
I understand what you mean about selling the extra dress - I was so relieved when I got rid of mine. The reason for it is that you are then not stuck with two dresses, and you have recouped some, if not all of the money that you outlayed for it. that's why!
I had all my wisdom teeth taken out in a private hospital - it was great. I didnt really appreciate it until I had to go through the ordeal of gall bladder out in a public hospital though. You are lucky that you are having it done so soon - anything closer to the wedding and I would have recommended that you wait until after.
I dont mean to scare you, but it took me months to get over my op - my mouth was shocking! I also lost 10 kilos in 2 weeks. Literally. But it didnt take me long to put it back on! LOL

Hi Girls,
There are some issues going on at my work at the moment, so I can only log in at night at the moment.
Michelle, DARWIN

I'm so sorry you didn't get the posting to QLD you were hoping for. Those nasty Army people!!

Does this mean you will still go to QLD while Neil goes to NT or will you move with him? Nasty Army people

Don't they understand you have a wedding to organise godammit!!!
Laurette, I'm so glad you like your new dress.

It's so beautiful. If we're really good, will we get to see some pic's of you in it before the wedding??
Ebony, glad you were able to sell your dress. Now you have some extra cash to play with
I got my veil today

One more tick off the list!! It is two tier 40" (so goes down to just past my bum - is that fingertip????) with crystal beading on the edge. I am getting it custom made because I want to wear it below my up-do but still have the top tier go over my face for walking down the aisle. All the standard veils were too short in the front when the top layer come over my face, so they rang up one of their suppliers who can custom make and he is able to make it for only $30 more than the price of the standard veil.

Very happy Jan!!! It is also getting made in blush. I was going to get white, but the blush doesn't really look pink at all, but is a bit softer than the white so will blend in nicely with my dress. Now I've just gotta get my tiara and I'll be all kitted up!

wow that sounds complicated
Yeah I will move to Darwin, its a 2 year posting. Neil suggested we go to Townsville for Christmas and I just stay there until March

so that I can organise the wedding. Yeah its a great idea but I would miss him too much!
My head hurts..

oh, god - you poor thing Michelle - I dont know how I would go handling this if I were you. DARWIN? What on earth were they thinking. Staying in Melbourne would have been better! Oh, well, make sure you get a good broadband connection so that we can keep you company!
Once you find a new job and get into a netball team or something like that you will be right though, I am sure.

us brides are tough!
Jo, that is excellent news about your veil. I also want to have mine below my up-do, and hadnt thought about the issue of length. Would you be able to PM the name of the place that you got it? that would be good, if you dont mind

Hi girls,
Michelle,

Jo,
Your veil is a finger tip length two tier.Amanda has a three tier it has the piece over her face a finger tip length and then it has a cathedral length which comes down over the back of her dress on to the floor this is for the ceremony only and will be taken out after proffessional photos are taken.
Ebony,
Glad to see you sold that extra dress did you get what you wanted for it??

Jo your veil sounds beautiful

My veil (yes I got talked into having a veil by the shop assistant) is also blush but you cant tell really only when the tule is all scrunched up.
I get to see my dress in 3 weeks
I have had 2 wedding dreams in the last 2 nights. The night before was me trying on veils and dresses I woke up feeling happy. Last night was my wedding day, and because I didnt live in Qld to organise everything, mum had forgotten to book me a hairdresser/make up person. I was devistated, we had a huge fight and I woke up feeling flat.
Neil and I also had a fight last night, I was freaking out over planning a wedding from Darwin, its bad enough from Melbourne but we always assumed we were moving up there in December and could do all the planning there. I suggested we postpone the wedding for 2 years. He said ok if thats what I really wanted. It would be so much easier.
I guess Im still in shock from this as we were assured we would get t'ville. He feels very guilty and even more guilty because I am upset. Its not his fault. When we moved to Vic almost 2 years ago, I was told that we would be back in Qld within the year, now it looks like it will be at least another 2 before we even get a chance at it. If neils is darwin, he will be going out field more, and perhaps even to iraq. So yeah I am slightly stressing over this crap.
ok enough I am rambling again
ps. congrats on the sale of your house kathy , are you moving closer to amanda?
pps. neil is going to appeal this decision but itsnot very likely they will listen to him...
---
Sep 23 2005, 11:10 AM
sorry just had to add, I know it sounds like Im whinging a lot over all of this, Im just in shock. I have always told Neil I would move to the moon with him if thats what it took for us to be together
Laurette
Sep 23 2005, 11:40 AM
Of course you would, Michelle – he knows that.
You are not whining about it – we understand. Do you really want to put the wedding off for that long? I think that if you can manage to pull it off, then it will be made all the more sweeter because of all the effort that has gone into it.

It’s a bit rough that they had promised him he’d get to go back to QLD – and then not put him there.
beckabunny
Sep 23 2005, 11:42 AM
You poor darling!
I feel sooo sorry for you! don't feel guilty about whinging at all, whinge all you want, that's what we're here for right girls???
I wish there was something that i could do for you! Maybe i can just keep my fingers crossed that the appeal will go your way.....
It would be such a shame to put your wedding off for another 2 years, there is no way after getting this close to the actual day, that i could wait another 2 years, i'd go out of my mind, and after stuffing you around this time, what guarantees that you'll get posted to Queensland next time?
You could be waiting forever to get married that way!!
Wait and see what happens, and if you end up in Darwin, you still should be able to pull the wedding off, i reckon i'm doing a pretty good job. All you need is a really solid base of family and friends in Queensland, and it can be done. It will be a complete pain having to fly back and forth, but if you plan it properly, and organise things in batches, like I have been, you shouldn't have to fly back and forth too many times.
One thing to keep in mind id that the flight costs from Darwin and Brisbane shouldn't be that much more expensive than flights from Melbourne to Brisbane ($99) unless there's something gay like they make you go via Sydney!
Seriously, good luck, and keep your chin up!!

Michelle,
Cheer up sweetie look at it this way you are still with your man regardless of where you are.Look how fast this year has gone you will be back in QLD in no time so try to look at it in a positive way (i know that might be hard at the moment)Come in here and do all the whinning but dont take it out on Neil as he probably feels just as bad as you unfortunatly with the nature of his job you are gonna get posted in places that you dont want but you have to look at it in a positive way.And as for putting the wedding off WHY!!look at what you have been able to do while living in Melbourne as long as you have Mum helping you on the QLD end of things you will be fine so chin up kiddo.

Hi Girls,
Feel free to let it all out here with us Michelle. It is completely understandable how you must be feeling. Especially since you were pretty sure the posting would be to Townsville. I agree with the other girls. It would be a shame to put the wedding off now after all you have organised. I'm sure with your Mum's help you can pull it all together. Maybe when you go there for Christmas you can stay for a couple of weeks etc to knock off a few tasks. And you know we are always here to help out if we can.
Congrats on settling your house Kathy. How exciting to have all that money sitting in your account. Are you going shopping on the weekend?
Well, another big weekend for me

Hope everyone has a good one.
Jo.

well, i've had a lot of plans blown out of the water for this weekend!
I was going to finish making my invites this weekend as next weekend is the last weekend before i go to Melbourne and i wanted to have them ready before then coz i knew i'd be busy packing, but, out of the blue we're having a visitor staying from saturday afternoon through to monday morning!!
On the up side we get some well needed company from someone we know, also on the upside, we're going to take her to seaworld, and i've never been there before, but still, it's thrown a bit of a spanner in the works.
Every weekend is so full, something always gets bunked onto the next weekend. I have a feeling next weekend is going to be really full, unless i get time and energy during the week. Ah well.............

Michelle, If there is a chance (no matter how slim) that they can change to Townsville for you my fingers are crossed! As the other girls have said feel free to get on here and have a whinge - we are all here to listen (well read).
Laurette, my Mum decided on here MOB outfit last week also. A flowing dusky pink crushed satin dress and a mauve and silver lace jacket with matching siver shoes - very nice also. Mum is giving me away so choosing the material was funny as we had a piece of royal purple in hand so not to clash with the BM's dresses.

I have been freaking out a little today and yesterday, there really is so much to organise!!
I knew there would be, but i thought i was prepared, but up until now i've been doing lots of little stuff, which has been great to get out of the way, but, over the past few days i've been getting into serious organisation of the flowers, and there has been so much involved! The florist has been nothing but wonderful, but i can't help but feel a little swamped.
I had my first 'oh my god this is going to be so good' moment yesterday. I still havn't had my first 'oh my god i'm getting married' moment yet, but i've got a funny feeling it's going to pop out soon.
This whole experiance is really bringing out my girlyness, and it's been a bit of a surprise about how much girlynees i do have hidden away inside of me. I've never considered myself to be a girly girl and for most of my childhood, my mums friends would always say i was a bit of a tom boy. So it's been a bit of a shock really.
I'm getting both excited and nervous about my impending Melbourne trip, a little over a week 'til i leave, i really hope i can pull this off.
