Hi girls!
Congrats Laurette on booking your Church. That's fantastic news

Good luck at your first "meeting"! I love both pairs of shoes, but I think the Anthea are my fave. Have you tried them both on? Go with whichever pair is most comfy!
I know what you mean about your Dad.

My Dad is so not your average kind of Dad and our relationship has been very difficult over the years. We are getting on well at the moment, but he is just so unpredictable that I'm dreading what he will do or say at the wedding, especially if he gives a speech
Kathy, I think I like number 2 pew bow the best. It's just very simple and purdy.

But as Chloe said, it depends on your Church and theme. No. 3 is nice too and may suit your Church/theme more.??? I was going to make my own bows, but a family friend's daughter recently got married and she has offered her bows to us. I'm going to check them out and fingers crossed they'll be O.K (not sure of colour or anything), otherwise I will have to make.
Chloe, your Guinea pig is sooo cute. How many babies the Mummy have?
Did anyone see the pictures posted of the baby hedgehog in the general chat section. It was so adorable. I'll try to post the image....Here is a pic if you missed it. I asked Jase for one and he said no

He seems to think we're on a budget and a baby hedgehog doesn't fit into that budget.

That hedgehog baby surely is gorgeous!
I have been conducting a survey with my sample invitations with the ladies at work today. I couldnt decide what I want to do, so I was a bit confused, and as a matter of principle I am not showing MOH or MIL2B, and we all know how hopeless Glenn is at making a decision.
Childish of me I know, but if I show either of them, it'll just be wrong, so therefore I am not showing them.
I think that I might have decided upon table centrepieces, but since they involve MORE white roses, then cost might be a problem.
What do you all think of
this?
I think that it's what I am going to do... although if I cant afford the roses, then I might just have the candles in the vases.
Saffire
Sep 8 2005, 11:18 PM
Laurette that centrepiece is beautiful. I wonder if fake roses (some really look very real) floating in the water would be cheaper? Just as an option before you decide to go no roses all together but I think anything candle-related is always going to be a winner.
Jo - that baby hedghog is really gorgeous! Errm that surely can't be a pet? Don't they grow up and become very.. er.. prickly?
There are actually 2 litters of guinea piggies. Both mummies had 3 bubbies each. They all share the same dad. They're long-haired guinea pigs so not the normal pet variety you might be used to seeing... I might add some pictures to my photos link if you guys wanna have a peek

Went into Mariana Hardwick this evening and if anyone is in Melbourne, they are having a sale for evening wear - up to 70% off. Its all their left over stock and samples from the last couple of years. Might be some brides maid/ evening dresses there. I didn't pick anything up but it was fun having a look!

Chloe, what a male floozy that guinea pig is!

Sharin' the love.

Post some pic's. I love animals. Jase came home with an injured dove (at least I think it's a dove - it would be a pure white pidgeon) last night. He was playing golf and found it being attached by Mynors (sp??) on the 18th hole. It is in a basket with some towels ATM. It looks like it might be a show bird because it is very clean and seems to be "groomed" around it's feet. Also very placid and not agitated by human touch. It was a bit better this morning, perched up on the edge of the basket, but I don't want to release it if it is a home bird because it won't know how to survive and will either starve or get attacked by the wild birds. Might have to take it to the RSPCA (or keep it

- although my Baby Cockatiel might get very jealous).
Laurette, those centrepieces looks gorgeous. If the roses work out too expensive, what about just some petals??? I think they will still look lovely even with just the candle. With your invites, why don't you post the options on here and we can give you our opinions?? As you know, we all love pic's
Oh Chloe, I wish I was in Melbourne!!!

I need to find a nice evening dress to our annual dancing Ball in October. It's theme is "Snow Ball", so I need to find some white or silvery that is not too expensive!! Oh well. I'm keeping my eye out on the outlets around Sydney, so hopefully something "on sale" pops up.
So happy it's Friday.

Here's a pic of Dad:
Simba - "Daddy"Mishka mummy with her bubs(looking like she's about to run away from the camera)
Carebear mummy and her bubs - one of them is hiding underneath I thinkJo - think there is a Mariana Hardwick store in Sydney. I'm don't know if they are also having a sale as she is based in Melbourne but it might be worth checking out?
Ok off to work!

Hi girlies. I havent been doing much wedding related stuff lately.
Today Im off to Lincraft to get a sample of some material I liked. Its called emerald and its very nice I saw it last week and fell in love with it. I am sending mum some so she can show the BM's I want their imput to help me decide, after all they have to wear it so they should at least like the colour...Very typical of me to change my mind..Ive gone from pink to brown and now possible emerald eek!!
Oh well so long as I dont change my choice of hubby I should be ok hehe
HOpe your all having a great weekend xox
---
Sep 10 2005, 01:54 PM
Ok it was a sucessful and expensive shopping trip for me. I got the materials, and of course have a pic or 2 for you to squiz at.
Emerald colour, indooors, very gross pic of meColour of it inside Colour of dress in sunlightOutside, looking constipated heheOk just be aware that its not actually a dress I am wearing, it was just a 50cm piece of material I bought from lincraft to get an idea, and it just happened to fit me. I made it dress looking by tucking it into my bra, Neil was pretty impressed with how dress-like a scrap of material could look!
Ok so, what do you prefer, brown or the emerald?? My pink roses would go with both so Im not too concerned, the emerald is a lot brighter looking but the brown maybe goes better with my dress? not sure?? Help!!
Opps edited again to say the shopping trip was expensive because I bought some Napoleon make up products after reading how good it was. They sat me down and did my face and it looked really good except I look a little bit brown but when I wear my usual foundation people comment that I look sick (pale) so perhaps this colour is right for me.

Hi girlies
Chloe - those babies are SO gorgeous - I wish that animals could stay babies forever, they are so cute - not that big guinea pigs arent cute too though!
SIX MONTHS TODAY - and I will be married. Bit excited about that!
Michelle, I like the brown colour better - but that's just me. I never wear green or yellow, as a rule, so that's me beiig biased.. I do like the material, but brown is my preference.
I have just got home from a weekend in Wollongong - I had a job interview, which was good. i am very doubtful that I will get it, as i think that they want someone with a sales background - something that I certainly dont have. It was for a job here, but I had to go there for the interview - weird hey.

Laurette,
Hope the interview was successful and you get the job.
Michelle,
Go the emerald I think having a beach wedding the emerald would look better than the brown.

Hi Girls,
Laurette, BIG CHEER for you

Six months today. That is very exciting and just think, from tomorrow you can say, five months and..... wow, that's almost scary!

Good luck with the interview. You, never know, you may be just what they are looking for! If not, then at least you got some practice doing interviews and a day out in Wollongong!!
Chloe - your little guinea's are soooo cute! The babies are so little and cute and I love CareBear. She looks beautiful. Thanks for posting them.
Michelle, I love the green (and great job with the tucking. I thought it was a dress and was thinking, I thought she just bought the material??? until I read the rest of your post

). I love the brown as well, but the emerald is just really striking. That material also looks great. In terms of your dress, I think either colour would look fine. Hope your BM's like it
Nothing much happening for me. Went to a wedding yesterday. It was really nice. She looked beautiful. Champagne silk/satin dress with beautiful beading on the top and fairly full skirt with train. BM wore a bright red long a-line satin dress. Very nice!
The dove (???) that Jase bought home has pretty much made a full recovery. It is started to fly around. Now we just have to find it's home
Hope you had a good weekend girls!
Jo.

Sep 12 2005, 11:37 AM
Michelle I love the green (great tucking girlfriend!). I think the green is fresh and will add lovely colour to the bridal party. Having said that, I think brown would also be very nice - classy and elegant. What do your bridal party think? Maybe they can help you decide..
Laurette - good luck for the interview - you never know. My current job, I could have sworn there was no way they were going to hire me. The interview was awful!!! (I came out and cried). I was waiting for the call back to say whether I got through to the second round, when my (now) manager called to say I got the job - no need for a second interview. I say it aint over til the fat lady sings... All the best!!!
Jo - I wish I had some weddings to go to before March. I need ideas! Haven't been to one in a while now... Glad your dove is recouperating!
Tried putting together some trial invitations this weekend - can't figure out what wording to use! Think we're going to run out of space if we go with a DL invite... Doesn't help that my parents are divorced so to put their names, as well as Alex's parents' names, on the invitation... it's getting very busy!
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
Chloe xoxo

Sep 12 2005, 12:13 PM
OMG - Chloe, I am having the same trouble with my invitations. My parents are divorced, and even though dad is no contributing to the cost or anything, it still seems wrong to leave him off, KWIM? He isnt hosting the day or anything, but I cant even imagine the fall out if it said my parents names as just mum and my step dad.
At the moment, I have to say Fred and gail Scupin, Garry Chapman and John and Jenny Chessor.
And if I put dad's name, then does his partners name have to be added as well? I dont know. I have my three options that I did up at home, will post them when I go home for lunch if you like. They all include all names. I wanted to use A5 (half A4 page) size invites, but then the card costs more, you only get two out of a piece of vellum (with DL you get three), more ribbon required, bigger envelopes, more postage. It's a lose-lose situation, except that you could fit more on the page.
I will post them at lunch and you can see what I am leaning towards...

hi,
I'm 11th of March, so far i have my dress, my jewellery my venue (Mt. Eliza for those who are interested) my ring pillow, my shoes, my bridesmaids dresses (lavender) my general theme is butterflies, all the chairs are going to have lavender ribbons on them at the reception.
I'm currently slowly making the wedding invites. Once i have one complete one, if i can figure out how to post a pic if you are interested in seeing.
I'm having my hair/make up trial in about a month, i am booking my cake, flowers, limmo and organising suits in a little over 3 weeks from now. I'm doing two weeks of intensive wedding planning from the 6th to the 19th of October and then taking a rest.
I have to do it this way coz my wedding is in Melbourne and i live in Qld.

Welcome Beckabunny, when in March are you getting married? Dont worry Im the opposite to you, living in Melbourne and getting married ni Qld
Jo, very glad to hear about the dove are you going to keep it?
Kathy have fun at boot camp hehe sounds great! I hope you enjoyed your rum and coke..
Chloe, can you just put yours and alex's name on the invites? Thats what we are doing, even though all parents are contributing, it wil just look better than having my mum and all of his parents (he has split family too, 4 parents)
Well I posted mum the material, she will show the girls and then we will decide. I like both..

Hi Beckabunny! Welcome to the March thread!
We should organise eachther's weddings - I live in Melbourne and am getting married in Brissie! Btw - think you are more organised than I am already...
Your dress is gorgeous

Laurette - I hear you sista loud and clear! My dad has remarried so I have a stepmom, . Don't think she would make it on the invite though. An option you might consider is to say:
Laurette & Glenn
together with their families
...invite you to....etc
and not mention all the names. I'm not sure what our parents expect but I wanted DL to save costs (3 per page yeah!) and unless I want to include reading glasses in the each envelope so guests can read the 2 point size font (a necessity to fit all the words in!) I don't think it will fit! Let me know what you end up deciding...

I'm getting married on March 11.
It's definately not easy planning a wedding from another state, is it?
Have you been flying up every couple of months to organise stuff too??
I recieved my ring pillow in the mail from ebay today, i'll post a pic of it as soon as my digital camera batteries recharge.

Saffire
Sep 12 2005, 10:20 PM
Actually, I like option three too!!! Laurette you're a star!!!
I wanted each of our invites to be personalised for each guests - which means there has to be a line with each guests name (not just "invites you"). I had also picked out the same quote to put on our invites!!! "On this day I will marry my best friend..."
And I wanted to put each parents name without making the beginning bit a whole paragraph. I think option three is perfect - do you mind if I use this too?!?!
Here's what ours would read...
On this day I will marry my best friend...
Belinda and Terrence Chan, together with
Sallie Chang and Michael Chan,
request the pleasure of the company of

See? so lonnnnggg!
Oh well.

Sep 13 2005, 09:04 AM
Wow girls you are so organised. My invite will probably say something pretty basic. I have read somewhere that its not customary to mention deceased parents on the invites, and I dont just want mums name and then all 4 of his parents it would look a bit uneven..so its Neil and I inviting people to help us celebrate our wedding.
Beckabunny - Ive only been up to Qld once since we set a date, that was in jan when we frantically went around trying to find places to get married. Im going back to QLD in December and will finalise a lot of stuff. My fiance is in the army and we get posted "somewhere" in december we are hoping and praying that its Qld otherwise it will stuff up all our plans hehe. I still need to decide which beach I'm getting married on for the invitations ect...
Laurette
Sep 13 2005, 09:13 AM
Chloe - it think that it will be great if we have metching invites he he!
I also agree with you about having the guest's name listed on the invite.
Right, well - it's decided!
ETA - Now just to figure out how to get it all on a DL size piece of paper.....

it only cost me $22!!!!!!!
All the bridal shops and other places i'd looked wanted to charge me $60 for what i wanted!!
I found this great lady on ebay who was willing to custom make this pillow for me for only $22, so i snapped it up!!!
She doesn't have prehaps as much variety of things to put onto the pillow as the bridal shops do (i wanted crystals sewed on but she didn't have any) but for the price difference, i was willing to forego the crystals, and i think it looks better without them anyway!
If anyone wants her details, i'm quite willing to pass on her email address, just PM me!!

KATHY - CONGRATULATIONS! Firstly, on the 28 years of marriage, and also on the boot camp achievement. I think that you need a anniversary ticker, and a 'til boot camp is over' ticker.

Hi Girls
Welcome to our March 06 thread Beck.

My date was 11th March, but our Church got booked, so we had to change it to the 25th. Made sure I was still a March girl though! I love your dress and ring pillow. $22 is a great price. I will have to PM you to send me through the details.
Kathy, well done on making it through Day 1 of boot camp.

It sounds very painful. And Congratulations for 28 years of marriage on Friday. That's so good. So what do you think has been your secret of success?
Laurette, I like the wording of your third option as well. It sounds really good.
Another dysfunctional family here - divorces on both mine & Jase's side (we intend to break this cycle

). Since there were so many names and neither side is contributing to the cost of the wedding, we have decided to leave parents names out (same as you Michelle - I like your wording as well. Might have to try that out if that's O.k). My beautiful Mum is paying for my dress though, so I feel like I should include her, but can't really have just her and no-one else??? I think I'll just make a personal thank you to her in my speech on the night.
Still haven't heard back about my computer

I'm thinking the chances of them retrieving the file are not looking so good. Oh well, back to the drawing board!
Jo.
Laurette
Sep 13 2005, 02:07 PM
Oh Jo, that is a huge bummer. I really hope that they can sort something out for you - no good at all. I am sure that we can all pitch in and help each other out if you get stuck for time.
I rang the videographer that I want, and he is selling his business

But he remembered talking to me at both of the last two weddings that I went to, and he's willing to still do it for me! Which is amazing of him - he still wants to do a few each season, because he loves it, but it wont be a full-time thing. He is sending me over a package with their pricing (but I already know it's $1480) and some demos, but I have seen the two that he did over here, and they are excellent. I still look forward to seeing the demos though, I will no doubt have a cry at that.
I really want my parents (ie mum and my step dad) and Glenn's parents on my invitations, but I really dont want my dad, so that makes it hard. I think that I would rather include all rather than none though. If that makes sense.
Laurette
Sep 13 2005, 03:05 PM
Girls, I just wanted to let you know that I have dowloaded a 'music-download' program onto my computer, and have paid for a 1 year subscription, so in that time I can download as much music as I want.
If there is any music that any of you would like downloaded for your weddings, please let me know and I will be happy to see if I can find it for you. It doesnt take me too much time because I set it up in the mornings or at lunch time and then by the time I get home, it's all finished and I can go on to the next lot.
I can then email the file to you or even burn to disc and post. I have found that it is really good to do, because I can just get the songs that I want rather than having to buy the whole CD.
At the moment, I am listening to a selection that I first downloaded - let me know if you want any of these emailed;
Heaven from here - Robbie Williams
You're the inspiration - Chicago
A moment like this - Kelly Clarkson (Live)
Suddenly - Angry Anderson (I cried when I heard this)
Heaven - DJ Sammy - Candelight Remix
Air in G - Bach
Canon in D - Pachabel
Daddy's little girl - Tim McGraw and Faith Hill
It's your love - Tim McGraw and Faith Hill
You raise me up - Josh Groban
And the CD also has
The day you went away - Wendy Matthews
One - U2
Electrical Storm - U2
on it although these arent wedding songs.
Hope I can help someone

Have any of you decided on a rsvp date for your invites yet?
I chose the 27th of January, which is going to be our 3 year anniversary of being a couple. It also gives us a couple of weeks breathing space to chase down any stragglers who haven't rsvped before we have to notify the venue of our final numbers.
Man! i wish it was next year already, i want to be able to flick through my calendar on my desk and write in on the 11th of March in big huge writing 'MY WEDDING DAY!!!!!!!!'
I keep on looking at my ticker wishing for the turtle to go faster, but other times i look at my ticker and think it's going too fast!
Sorry if i'm rambling on...........

I had on the practive invites the 28th February, but it has just occured to me that that's less than two weeks before the wedding. I guess that I will need to move it back. I might have to consult with the caterer on that one.
I guess that I could make it about 30 January?

Hi Girls,
Laurette, that's great news about your videographer (well, bad news that turned into great news

). I bet your heart dropped when he said he was selling the business.
Thanks for your offer of the music downloads. I may have to take you up on that.

We haven't decided on our music yet, but once we do, if I get stuck, I'll let you know.
I know what you mean about the ticker beck. I can say that after already being to four weddings this year (and 2 more to come!!), I am now wishing our wedding was now!! The more I go to, the more I want my day.

Oh well, they say patience is a virtue don't they
Nothing much happening for me. When we went to our Church on Sunday and the pillars were decorated with white ribbon and ivy, so there must have been a wedding there the day before. It got me all excited and I suggested to Jase that maybe we could decorate the pillars the same way for our day but he said maybe but that he kind of had something else in mind. On Monday night I got home from work and he had bought all these flowers and wire (he's on hol's at the moment) and was making up arrangements for the pillars and pews.

It was very cute. He is a real gardener/green thumb so enjoys doing stuff like this sometimes. They looked great too - although I don't think he really considered the cost (he was using lots of white roses) or time factor - "ahh honey, you know that you do have to get ready the morning of the wedding don't you."

Anyway, it was sweet.
Hope you're all having a good day girls.
Jo.

Jo, what a gorgeous man you have. That is so sweet that he was thinking up stuff like that - good on him. Glenn wouldnt know how to bend wire if it jumped up and slapped him in the head.
I downloaded a heap of new music last night - although now I think I have too much and am probably going to confuse myself.

Hello all!!
Its been a while, i've just had soo much going on (not wedding wise but

)
Everyone sounds like its getting to the nitty gritty, i dont even know where to start with everone!
All plans sound great.
I can understand about the invite delima! Both bob and myselfs parents are divorced and my dad and mum both have partners, but right from the start we decided that it would be us inviting people, just amkes it eaiser i guess.
Bob is designing the invites and once i figure out how to post it i will!
Got a work friends wedding this weekend sould be ok - fairly formal i think though, not really my scene but ii will be good, gotta love a wedding!!!!

Kathy, well done on making it through Day 1 of boot camp. It sounds very painful. And Congratulations for 28 years of marriage on Friday. That's so good. So what do you think has been your secret of success?

Hi girls,
First of all day 2 boot camp just completed

I can feel the xtra kilos coming off already(well thats what im telling myself to keep going)Muscles are very sore and I could hardly move yesterday but as I was told today its a good pain instructor said today if you are sore it means you worked hard.
Jo,
To answer your question about my secret for my long marriage:
No.1-Stay best friends.
No.2- Dont take each other for granted
No.3- Never go to bed angry with each other sort it out b4 you go to bed
No.4-Never tell him how much you payed for those to die for shoes (hehehe)its not lying its just not telling.
No.5-Do something special for each other every now and then even if it is something small like when you are going past the bakery get his favourite cake or what ever he likes from bakery(this way you justify going in there in the first place and you can buy yourself something yummo as well)
No.6-Kiss each other everyday and dont hold back even if it is in public
No.7-Make sure you say "I love you" everyday its something small but it works
No.8-REMIND him when its your wedding anniversery (this way you get prezzies)and we all know how forgetfull men can be and make sure you celebrate it
Well thats what has worked for me so far so heres to 28yrs and many more to come cheers.

Well, I have failed that one already. I slept in the other room last night because Glenn was annoying the shit out of me and I was very cranky with him - but he came in and said goodbye on his way to work and has phoned me this morning, so things are OK now, but still. I went to sleep cranky.
Well done on the boot camp Kathy! You might inspire me to get motivated...

Wow, they're great Beck. Fantastic job.
Kathy, well done on surviving Day 2 of boot camp

You've inspired me as well. I went to the gym last night for the first time in @8 months

Mind you I only did 10 mins on the bike and a Pilates class, so it wasn't overly strenuous.

I am going again tonight though and will do a "Bodyjam" class which is a much more physical. It's a dance based class, so should be fun.....I hope...
I so agree with the never going to bed with each other angry. This is one thing I always make sure of. That and never leaving the house angry with each other. One of the things that scares me is having a huge fight, then something happening to one of us. You may never get the chance to take things back. Kathy, I will take note of your words of wisdom. They obviously work
Hi Ebony! Good to see you again. Make sure you fill us in on the wedding you're gonig to on the weekend. I've got one on as well!
speak to you later girls,
Jo.
