Laurette
Hi Jazz. Welcome to the forums and the March 2006 thread! Cant wait to hear all about your plans and what you are up to.

I missed coming back here for my 3000th post, I didnt realise that I had got there, so this is 3001!

Michelle, that sucks about the dresses, but I guess that if your BMs are happy with them, then that makes all the difference.

The dresses that I had picked my BM didnt like, although they didnt really have a reason for it, it was just sorta 'because' so at least there is a legitimate reason for it.

I am sure that there are a lot of dresses that you will be able to get in brown, if you still want that colour. I know that the dresses that I got (by Marie Gourlay) were available in about 20 colours, and chocolate was one of them that looked really good.

Let us know what you decide on.

Good luck with the job interview, I am sure that you will wow them, and I agree about witholding the 4 month info, that's a good idea. Also, what on earth were they thinking calling you at 10pm on a Sunday night - that's just rude.

Nothing more wedding wise from me, I am so unorganised. I might elope.

I have made the concious decision that I want a church wedding, but Glenn is quite opposed to it, but I am sure that we will be able to come to some sort of agreement... I can see a common pattern here, we dont seem to be able to agree on anything!

We went for a big drive yesterday and looked at a heap of houses and land and stuff, the block of land that I had my heart set on has been sold, so that's no good, but, what can you do.

Kathy W
Hi Girls,

Snickers I hope you get the material you want and most importantly it comes in on budget. Its good that you have a dress maker that you like and get along with.

kathyxx
---
Hi Snickers good to see you, great to hear you have found a dress maker - lets hope she can do it under budget.

I spent all night dreaming about the $5000 couture dress I fell in love with, in my dream mum suggested we sell my current dress and get the $5K one made..Oh I wish!!

Interview went well, I think I got a red light on the way and I also went the wrong way thru a one way street, but other than that I had a sucessful outing hehe.

The doctor seemed impresed with me, I spent an hour with him, most of the time him rambling about how poor he was ect. Anyway he will let me know on Wednesday.

I actually told him that Im only here 4 months and that didnt seem to faze him one bit - honesty is the best thing for me!!

I have another interview in the CBD tomorrow (I think I will catch the train and not try to drive it after todays incidents lol) this job is for temp positions which suits me.

Thats about all. smile.gif
Dancing Girl
Hi Girls!

Good luck with the job and other interview Michelle. Hopefully you get at least one of them!

Laurette, have you heard anything back about your interview? Fingers crossed for you. And have you had any more luck warming Glenn up to your dress?

Chloe, can't wait till you post the pic's of your shoes. LOL about now having two pairs! Oh well, they do say variety is the spice of life. Maybe you can wear one pair to the ceremony and the other to the reception. laugh.gif

Snickers, good luck with shopping with your dressmaker. Hope the $$$ works out O.K.

Hmmm, who have I missed?? (geez, i don't pop in for a few days and it all happens!!),

Kathy, I can't believe how organised Amanda is. It seems like everytime you post she has done something else! I love the bubbles tags BTW. Very cute.

Welcome Jazz. Look forward to reading of your plans.

HAVE I MISSED ANYONE??????

Not much happening for me. My planning is a bit stagnant at the moment. Better geet off my ar$e and start doing a few more things. We did book our Cartoonist on Friday. There is a team of 2 that walk around the reception and draw A4 caricatures of the guests that they get to keep as part of their bon-bon. We thought it would be fun and something different.

That's about it! Glad to see everyone else's plans are full steam ahead!

Trishie
Glad to hear everyone is doing well!!! smile.gif

Need a few kind words and good thoughts to head my way - the place I was temping for has decided they don't want me any more and have employed someone else, so as of Friday, I once again have no job sad.gif
Sorry this isn't wedding related, but am just feeling really down right now and H2B isn't contactable
I know you fab girls can cheer me up!!!

Luv Trish

Kathyxxx
---
Hey Trishie sorry to hear about your job. I know how hard it is to be out of work, it seems no one in Melbourne wants to employ me I had sent off about 500 resumes (ok slight exageration) and been offered a few crappy jobs (6 hours a week and such) but Ive had no luck finding a decent job. Hopefully you will pick up something else fairly quick. smile.gif

Hey Ebony not long now until your birthday!!
Saffire
Hi all

Trishie - I think you're fabulous. WE think you're fabulous! Didn't you remember to tell the temp agency that? Never mind, next time just say - but the I-do girls think I'm fabulous! So you see, you have to keep me til I don't want to stay anymore!

Michelle - good luck with the job tomorrow! It sounds really positive! Your wedding bands sound lovely tongue.gif

Kathy - I think I've said it before but I need a mum like you! That way I can at least FEEL more organised smile.gif

Ebobbly - oooh shoes! You'll have to describe! Better yet post a piccy!

Jo, I love your idea of the artist walking around drawing pictures of guests for the bombon... Its fantastic! Wonder if there's money in the budget for something like that at ours.. Oh no, hang on a minute - we have 150 to 170 guests. That would require TEN artists. Scrap that idea, not enough money now that I have 2 pairs of shoes...!

Laurette - we did the land/house hunt thing last year. It can be very exhausting and also disappointing (mostly, errr we don't have trillions of dollars for that dream piece of land...). Good luck convincing Glenn about the church - if all else fails, there's always the 'encouragement-through-alcohol' technique ; )

Snickers - that dressmaker sounds great! I can't believe she actually comes dress shopping with you. Hope the price falls within your range:)

Ok I think I've done the war and peace post again. No updates for me - just busy with stupid work. I hadn't done my expenses for like 4 months and now work are owing like almost 9k (which needs to go straight into the corporate card so still no group of artists at the wedding!). So spent all day yesterday doing them til 2am in the morning. But now its done I can focus on more important things - like taking a picture of my shoes for you guys to tell me which ones you like!

Over and out!

Chloe xoxoxo tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif
Saffire
Ok - have my link working now.

Feel free to browse - one of the pairs of shoes are in the link - the Vera Wang ones.

They just arrived - like 8 minutes ago. By courier from the US. It was all so exciting (but only my dogs to witness my dance of joy).

Tried them on and...

They are slightly too narrow for my foot! *sniff*. Will have to see what I can do to either get them professionally stretched or maybe sell them...

Anyway, once I get pictures of the other pair up you girls can tell which ones are better smile.gif
Kathy W
Chloe,

LOVE THE SHOE'S one of my biggest weaknesses is shoes picture Carrie-sex in the city biggrin.gif

Kathyxxx

Ohh Chloe I am in love with those shoes, they are gorgeous
Laurette
Oh, those shoes are HOT!

They are exactly what I pictured having for my wedding...

Chloe, that is the first time that I have really looked at all your photos - I cant wait to see your wedding pics - everything is going to look so fantastic! adn glamourous!

I am flat chat at work, promise that I will post a big update between 5 and 6 tonight smile.gif Have a great afternoon lovelies!

Me too!!!! laugh.gif They are gorgeous Chloe. What size are they? Maybe one of us can buy them from you if you decide to sell them. laugh.gif

Thanks for sharing the rest of your photo's. You've got beautiful style. I love the candle placecards too.

Trishie, sorry to hear about your job. Fingers crossed that you find something else soon.

Kathy, I think Amanda has got pretty much everything covered. Thanks for the FG dress site. I checked it out and will take my FG to one of their stockists in Sydney soon.

Any news on the job front Michelle and Laurette? Fingers crossed for you both too.

---
No news on my job yet. Today's interview in the city went ok, he said he will call me if/when a temp position comes up..

The doctor is meant to be calling me tomorrow with an answer. cool.gif
Kathy W
Hi Girls,

Chloe,

If the shoes are a size 8 1/2 there mine (at the right price laugh.gif )

Michelle,

Everything is crossed for you hope you get the job.

Amanda is off overseas again in October she is representing the Uni that she lectures at.This time its Kuala Lumpur for two weeks.

I wanted to go with her but one of her BM's is her secretary for this trip.

So I get to be her secretary next year if she gets to go to Paris biggrin.gif

kathyxx
Saffire
THANK YOU everyone for your compliments! It's a little scary putting up all your ideas for everyone to see. I'm not sure why!

Shoes: I love them. I bought this pair off ebay and paid only a fraction of their normal retail price. They're authentic Vera Wang and I'm pretty sure you can't buy them in Australia. I've been looking for months and months on ebay just waiting for something nice in my size to come up. I too have a weakness for shoes so it is one of the more important decisions to make regarding this wedding! They fit me in length but since I have spastic wide feet, its very difficult to get them on...

The other pair are open toed and have pretty crystals on them. Really have to charge my camera to take a picture... sometime this millenium....

Michelle I'm sending all my positive good-luck energy over your way for tomorrow when you find out about the job!

Kathy - KL is great for shopping!!! Amanda should have a great time. (Paris sounds really great too!!!)

Laurette - any news yet on the job front? Sending the rest of my good-luck vibes your way smile.gif

Need to sleep. Went to dance class tonight and we all went and had coffee with the group afterwards. It was the first night at the new studio in Camberwell so we all celebrated. Realised when I got home I had heaps of work to do before tomorrow...

Nite Nite!

Chloe xoxoxo

mrs.thomas to be
Didnt take long to change our minds from a april/may wedding to a march wedding. I want it to still be hot enough to have an outdoor reception. March 4th!!! Here we come. Not long to go at all. We're putting two venues in a hat at the moment..... Se@w*rld and Av!c@

Hopefully I'll have the theme and my dress pciked by the days end.....
Dancing Girl
Hi mrs.thomas to be. Welcome to our March thread. biggrin.gif Congratulations on setting your date. Both venues sound great. Look forward to hearing more of your plans!

Chloe, I hadn't actually thought about looking on ebay for shoes. I'm only just getting introduced to the ebay world. Didn't know there were so many things on there. You have now inspired me to do some of my own searching. Did you find the shoes under Wedding Shoes or just Shoes?

Last night was very exciting for me as I GOT MY WEDDING BAND! They had finished resizing it and Jase surprised me with it last night. I sooo love it and can't wait to wear it! Here are some pics! Wedding Band and on the finger and with my e-ring and on my finger!. Very excited biggrin.gif

Starting to look at cakes now. There's so many styles, I think I have choice overload at the moment!

Hope everyone has a good day. biggrin.gif

Hi, I am getting marry in March 06 as well !!! Can't believe time went by so fast...is only 7 months away and the only thing I have booked is the Reception Venue !! I haven't even start to make up my mind about the invitation and haven't find a gown or ceremony venue.....everything is hard
Kathy W
Hi Peggy,

Welcome to the march thread. What date in march are you getting married on?

What do you find hard about wedding planning?Do you have two many choices and cant make up your mind or not enough choices?

Where abouts are you?

Maybe we can all help you make the decisions that you are having trouble with.

Kathyxxx

Dancing Girl
Congratulations Michelle! That's great news biggrin.gif Best of luck with your orientation/trial. I'm sure with your new clothes you'll be fantastic cool.gif

Welcome Peggy. Don't let the planning overwhelm you. Just make a list of things to organise and tackle things one at a time! And of course, we are all here and happy to bounce idea's around and help out!

Thanks for your comments on my ring girls. I love it! My H2B has definitely spoiled me in the bling department. biggrin.gif

I feel fed up with today. I'm ready to go home now!

im the same peggy and i am starting to get nervous!

hi all - its been ages since i have been in here - i am thinking of not going with the big wedding now just a smaller "gathering" for 2 hours and then jetting off to Europe. Does anyone have any suggestions down near the Rocks in Sydney for a 2 hour drinks function? HELP!
Saffire
CONGRATS MICHELLE!!!! Yay! Maybe the good vibrations worked! *dance with joy*

Jo - Oh my gosh your wedding band is stunning! (btw, I'm still blinded blink.gif ) Love it!

Hi Mrs Thomas to be! March is definitely a fabulous month (but then we're all biased in here I guess). So you're in the gold coast? Those reception venues sound lovely. I've heard really good things about avica.

Welcome Peggy! Don't stress smile.gif I think we're all freaking out with how fast time flies. But then again, you go through bursts of organisation. I did a whole lot of stuff at the 1-year-to-go mark, then haven't done anything since. Recently woke up and went back into a mad rush of organisation. What sort of ideas do you have so far?

Hi Luckygal - Europe sounds GREAT! Sorry, don't know much about Sydney but good luck with your planning!

I went in for 5 hours yesterday. Its a pretty busy clinic. Somedays I wil be there by myself which worries me but Im sure I can put up with it for 4 months. They are meant to be calling me today with a roster ect. Its old fashioned and has yucky paper files which means filing *yuck* my last clinic was beautiful it was entirely paperless which meant minimal getting up off bum wink.gif but oh well. Only 4 months!

Thanks for your help sending me good luck vibes gals smile.gif

MARCH 25TH GIRLS ONLY 7 MONTHS TO GO!!!!!
Kathy W
Hi girls,

Put your thinking caps on everyone Amanda and I are in the stages of picking music to dance to it's not the bridal dance music we are after it's just general dance music for everyone to dance to at reception.

Has to be a good mix of old and new songs

Kathyxxx
fiona28
Thats hard. I just had a look through some lists and there is too much too choose from and by the time my date comes along there is going to be a heap of new music out then too.. Good luck
Saffire
'Crazy little thing called love'
'My Girl'
'Sway'
'Get the Party Started'
'Oh What a Night!'

I'm sure I'll think of others.....

PS: Have a great weekend everyone.
---
Well I had a pretty good day I found the place ok. Parking is a nightmare in Melbourne, and of course I only had like $3 in my wallet for parking so I had to move the car 3 times throughout the day GRR

I was flat out my brain feels like its ready to explode from learning new things, but luckily they use the same software as my previous clinics so its been fairly easy to pick up

Laurete we've been waiting for an update for a few days now hehe

Bye!
ebbi
Hello all!!!!

Kathy - we were picking out songs the other night its actually pretty easy once you get into the swing of it!!! We just went through our cds and mp3s and picked out our faves etc

Chloe - ohh tough choice with the shoes i love a bit of sparkle so id have to say the open toed shoes!!!

No wedding news really, just tring to orgainse accommodation for out of towners - wat a nightmare!!!

Have a great weekend all!!!!
Laurette
Hi everyone

Well, havent we all been busy. I am writing this in between hanging out loads of washing... how fun.

Kathy - You are going to have so much fun looking through that song list. I had a bit of a look, and it boggled my mind. I just had all these lyrics running through my head and I was confused straight away! Thanks for posting the link Michelle! Kathy, when are we going to start seeing some ideas for MOB outfits? the time will sneak up on you!

Michelle - Excellent news about the job, that's great! I hope that daylight savings gets here REAL soon for you to minimise the time that you are leaving work in the dark. Do you have to work Saturdays at all? how many hours a week are you getting? Are the other ladies nice?

Chloe - I can see why you would be having a hard time deciding between the two pairs of shoes - I cant decide really and they're not even mine.... I love the Vera Wang ones, although from the tye of dress that you described, I am thinking that the open ones will suit that sort of dress more, IYKWIM? Only thing is, the detail on them wont clash with the brooch on your dress will it?

Fiona - Where have you been! We need an update from you!

Welcome to the new girls in the thread - sorry I have been slack! Cant wait to hear all about your plans!

Well, there has been a bit happening in my world!

I have been applying for a few new jobs, and the one that I REALLY want, I applied for yesterday, and I am dealing with the GM (the GM!!!) directly, and they are not going to advertise if I am what they want, so that's a good thing. I spoke to him on the phone on Thursday night and then emailed all my stuff through yesterday. I got an email straight back, and he said that he will look over everything on the weekend and get back to me early in the week!

The other interview that I had, the 8 minute one, I have to apply for it directly also, and the ad should be in today's paper, I just havent managed to get to the newsagent yet.

Glenn is also looking for another job - there is nowhere locally that he can transfer to, so after 13 years with Woolworths he's looking to leave. Which is sad though. His boss is the main problem, he has two weeks with her, and then she goes on two weeks leave, then another week with her and then he goes on a month's long service leave, so hopefully he will be able to get through that easily, and then we will decide what we are going to do from there. I can just imagine what it will be like if we are both changing jobs at the same time... OMG - I am scared just thinking about it! then by the time he goes back to work it will almost be Christmas, so he will probably stay through that (cant afford to not be working) and then it will be the wedding... ah, who knows, he might be there another 12 months yet and by that time the boss might be retired or something. But if somethiig comes up, I think that he will take it.

Well, I also ordered another dress. Have been blueing with Glenn over it for long enough, I am over it. I ordered a 'replica' of a Maggie Sottero dress from an Ebay store, who also have a proper website.... They have excellent feedback, so that's good.

I also won an auction for a hoop, so that is good too. Now I just gotta get a veil and some shoes, and I'll be set right? (oh, and underwear, jewellery etc...) the shoes that I want from www.bridalshoes.com.au I can order online. It will be great if I can organise this whole wedding from my desk... he he he. I am so excited - the dress and the hoop together? $2000? No... $1000? No... $500? No... $400! Yes!

Anyway, I know that you all love pictures, so here they are;

Bodice Detail

Side of dress - split detail

Back of dress - train detail

Whole back of dress

Lacing detail

Oh, and I also have a picture of the bridesmaid dresses that we are getting - although ours will be in black...

BM dress - although ours will be black

At the supermarket the other night, I had the first comment that I have lost weight! I was so excited, and it's given me a little boost and some more confidence, and motivation to keep going. I was getting a bit upset that I didnt seem to be getting anywhere, but it seems I am!

Oh, also - how's this for clumsy. Last night when I left work, it was almost dark, and I was walking across the gravel carpark (I work for a transport and grain storage company, our whole site is a huge gravel pit basically - although flat) and I tripped over on one ankle, and that nkle is so so so sore, and then landed on the other knee... it was all skinned and bloody and I ripped my work pants (another $100 that I dont have!)

Argh, the phone just rang and now I am doing a survey that is going to go for 15 minutes... they're asking me about cold remedies...

Well, that's my story.... Thanks!
Laurette
Hey, can I ask that someone send me an email at some stage? I need to test something, I have finally set up Outlook to work with my email... it's laurettechapman@optusnet.com.au

Thanks dudes!
Kathy W
Hi Girls,

Laurette,

Love the dress you will look stunning in it.Glad to see you have finally made a decision and picked one.

I hope all the searching for jobs pays off for you and Glenn.

You are right about MOB outfits better get my ass into gear and start looking as soon as i find something will let you know.

Hope your ankle and knee arent to bad a good thing to do for a twisted ankle is to put ice on it and elevate to help reduce the swelling.

Have a good weekend

kathyxxx
Kathy W
Hi Girls,

Have just added photos of MOB dresses to photos.

Theses are the sort of style Im looking at number 10 is winning out so far.

Dont take any notice of colours as i havent decided on that yet.Maybe I will do a road trip to brisbane with hubbys credit card and amanda and have a girls weekend retail therapy. biggrin.gif

Kathyxxx
Laurette
ooh, I love number 10!
Saffire
Hi Everyone!

Laurette - your dress looks stunning! Extremely flattering too - especially with the crystal detailing at the back creating a v-shape before flaring out to the train. And your bridesmaid dresses also look stunning. Can't believe your budget is working out so well! Good luck with your job applications - the latest opportunity sounds very promising!

Thanks everyone for the shoe help. Kathy I like your advice - you're probably right that the vera wang ones look bridal and the midas ones look more bridesmaid-y. I'm going to sleep on it for a bit and also wait for my mum to get back from Malaysia and let me know what she thinks. She's over there visiting my grandma who is very ill.

We went stationery shopping today to try to get colour inspiration - we're still not sure what colours to have! I'm going to try to make my own invitations - off now to shop the internet for some nice fonts.

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend : rolleyes.gif

Chloe xoxo
Saffire
Kathy - Number 10! Number 10!

What colour would it be?
---
Laurette your dress is beautiful. And well done on another bargain!

Mum and my BM's went dress shopping in QLD on the weekend and they found my little sis doesnt fit into anything off the rack because of her large boobs so they are off to the dress maker.

Saffire
Progress!!!!

I have a colour theme - sage green BM dresses and deep red flowers/centrepieces everything else. Finally. I couldn't think of anything I liked and went to stationery shops etc for inspiration. Finally went yesterday to Alannah Hill factory outlet where the leftover material is sold upstairs. Found some gorgeous stunning material (sage green silk, lace and pearl & diamond trimming). Will use this for the BM's dresses. So relieved!!!

user posted image

Have also chosen paper for stationery too (now that I've decided on the green). It is a gorgeous japanese paper that is so pretty it doesn't need much else so I'll literally print on to it, stick it to some card, and voila! Should work out to be pretty cheap too!

Ok, back to being slightly more excited and positive about the wedding planning instead of frustrated and unmotivated rolleyes.gif
Laurette
Chloe - I love it!

I so wish that I lived in the city sometimes! 'Oh, I just popped down to the Allanah Hill outlet...' I wish!

Godo news is that mum and I picked the invitations on the weekend, so now I just need to get a final guest list #'s so that I know how much to order, and then we can start making things! I am looking forward to getting all creative!

Also, I have found by accident that you can buy those balinese flags that I wanted on Ebay for heaps cheap - although I probably could still make them cheaper, but I dont have time.

Kathy, what colour are you looking for in that dress! I love number 10 - I really do!
