Laurette
Yeah - we're up to three pages! Wahoo!

Kate, I still really want to have Black White and Silver with a bit of pink thrown in in the flowers, so that is what I will be working on making work.

That's the plan anyway...
Kate S
Im BORED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Laurette
Sorry to hear that Kate.

Hey, what do you do for a day job?

I read in the house forum about how you live near the beach - near which one?
Kate S
Im temping at the moment - and do next to nothing all day - VERY boring. Nice enough people tho, and the money is good, so no complaints.

We're about 200m to East Corrimal Beach, and about 50m to the Lagoon that runs into it.

What do you do?

Leesha,
Reception Venue looks great the big screen is a great idea.
Kathyxxxx

Thanks, it's very old pictures though, you should see it now, it's absolutely stunning!!! Yeah the big screen is a good idea, they've really done a great job of that reception centre.

We've got a really great deal with our food too, plenty of it smile.gif Which was important I didn't want people to go home hungry!

so, where is your daughter??? You haven't gotten her hooked onto this site yet?
Kathy W
Hi Leesha,
No still havent been able to get my daughter on here yet but I have told her about it.She is very busy with work and PHD(its due 2 weeks before wedding)so she is on computer all day and says at the moment the last thing she could do is be on it after work.I have told her all about you girls and the ideas that you have and she will be on here after her engagement/Bali trip and a trip to New zealand Bali is pleasure N/Z is to represent the university as a lecturer.

Hi Laurette,
How you going with your color and theme decisions?

Hi Kate,
The colors you have picked are great.

What kind of cars is everyone having???????

And how many??????

Kathy W

OMG!!!!!! Just realized we're up to three pages how many is it going to be come Febuary 06.......
Kathyxxxx
Kate S
Hi Cathy.

Matt (H2B) is having a friends Lexus and Im arriving in a Limo.

I wanted a horse and carriage, but they wanted $850!!!! and I only needed them for 1/2 hour...

I am actually thinking of surprising H2B and organising some old Fords (GT's). He'd LOVE that, but I cant find any. Next stop is seeing if they have an owners club anywhere near us.
Laurette
Hi Kate

I am a HR Manager/Office Manager, although not too much managing going on at the moment - I seem to be here all the time.

Kathy, I think that I will jsut be going with Black and White and Silver - it really is what I want, so I'm going to make it work!

For our cars, we are going to be using 1 black and 3 grey XR8 falcons - current shape that they are now, the BA model. Hopefully noone will upgrade before then (we are borrowing from friends).
Kate S
I just emailed the National GT Owners Club (or somthing like that) and asked if they offer there services (for a fee of course!)

Now I suppose I have to wait for a response... I HATE waiting!!!!!!

Hey Laurette, have you emailed Lisa about the quick reply button??? It sure would come in handy!!!
Kate S
Laurette the cars sound unreal! And our photographer said to try and get cars that arent white cos otherwise my dress will blend in and you lose the effect.

The lexus is a stunning pearly, dark greeny-grey, absolutely gorgeous colour, and I reckon photos next to that would look awesome. (although Im sure theyll look good next to a GT if we can get one!!!)
Kathy W

I think your colors are going to look gorgeous Laurette as I said in a previous post I seen these colors and they really do work great with each other expecially with a pink dark or light flowers. What about your theme?

My daughter (her name is amanda by the way) is having pink B/m dresses and silver jewellery the men will be in black suits with white shirts and pink vests(which they're not that happy about)but she stomped her feet and hed her breath till she got her way.So your colors and hers are very simillar.

Her cars are Bently's about $950 for two cars and two/three hours.

Kate,
Alot of car clubs like to show there cars off so if you can to keep costs down find out if they will accept a bribe instead of $$$$.ie:bottle of rum or wild turkey or a mention on a web site in your wedding photos where the cars come from.It might work you never whats the worst they can say "no you have to pay us"its worth a try.

Kathyxxxxxx

Kate S
Kathy, not wedding related, but my H2b has gorgeous skin (really dark) and pink would look so good on him, but he flat out refuses... maybe stomping my feet and holding my breath will work!!!

Yeah how can you compare 2 bentleys to a horse and cart for much the same price. Its daylight robbery I reckon.
Laurette
Hey Kate and Kathy

I have emailed (well, PMd) Lisa about that fast reply button.

My new fave song is on the radio. I dont know what it's called, but it goes... dare you to run... and that's about all I know. I think that it's on the OC ad.

I think that our cars will look good too - then the white ribbon on them will really stand out, though I might use pink yet....

I think that Glenn will be in a white tie and the other boys in silver ones or pink maybe. We'll see what happens.

Kathy, I am not too sure about a theme as such - I wont be having 'stars' or 'hearts' etc. Not me. We'll just go with it as it comes I guess!

I am off to find some chocolate (coz I need it like a hole in the head).
Kate S
Laurette Ive noticed today that nearly every thread Ive posted in, youve been the one before... now Ive got a complex that you'll be thinking im trailing every post you make!!!

Im not stalking you... promise... ph34r.gif
Kathy W

Kate,
The secret to every bride getting her way is to hold her breath and stomp her feet.It also works right through the marriage once you hold your breath they know not to argue as my hubby found out 27 years ago and my FSIL is quickly learning hehehehe
Kathyxxxxxx

The pink would look lovely on his dark skin.

Laurette,
Love the silver tie idea......
Laurette
Kate, it's OK - I know that you are not stalking me - I also in fact noticed that we have been posting a fair bit close to each other. It's down to 4 degrees of separation...

Do you think, Kathy, that if I stomp my feet and hold me breath and put my hands on my hips that Glenn will take me out for tea and to the movies? Do you think? I cant see it happening, but I have BEEN TRYING ALL DAY TO GET HIM TO TAKE ME ON A DATE. And he cant see why I dont wanna just 'stay at home' (oh, I get it - so that all your mates cant come round and annoy me in my PJs and I can have some quiet time with you while your phone isnt ringing and beeping from messages and all the rest of it. No I dont know why I wanna going out either... Sheesh)
Kathy W

Laurette,
Kick him in the butt and tell him just because we're engaged does'nt mean we stay at home like two old people. There is plenty of time for that when your married. And in your 60's.Then if that does'nt work then hold your breath and stomp your feet.

Kathyxxxxxx

Here are some photos

Hi girls

I thought that I would come in here today and have pages of posts to get through, as I dont get on here over the weekends much - but there wasnt!

Kathy - well done on getting all your stuff set up - looks great. I love your daugher's wedding dress - she is going to look like a true princess for sure!

I have had both acrylic and gel nails and I much prefer acrylic. I wish that I could afford to have them on all the time, but with trying to save for the wedding and a house, I really cant afford them. They will definetly be going back on before the wedding though - that's a given!

Cheers
Laurette
Kate S
Hi Laurette!

Hope you all had a great weekend.

Here goes the first March 2006 Bridezilla rant!

Bit of background - Matt had told literally EVERYONE we know that he was going to propose... and I mean EVERYONE, apart from my mum and one of my friends. Its cute that he was excited, but when it happened, everyone knew and it sort of took some of the 'fun' side of it away cos I didnt get to break the news to anyone. ( I know that sounds terrible... I was over the moon that he asked, but it would have been fun to go up to someone and say "guess what... " without them going... 'ive known for 3 months...")

Anyway, skip to saturday arvo, we decided a few weeks ago that we wanted his 2 Aunties to do a reading/ sing at the ceremony. Theyre both late 20s, and I get on with them really really well. I didnt want some big formal invitation for them to do the readings or anything, but I wanted to do it 'when the time was right' and Matt knew that, and knew I wanted to ask them personally.

So here we all are, at his cousins 1st birthday, but it was later in the night so kids had gone home/ to sleep and the parents were having a few drinks. Someone brought up the wedding and Matt elbows me and goes 'now would be a good time to ask T & C" so of course T & C (aunties) wanted to know what he was on about, so i just sort of blurted it out, and they got teary and said yes they were touched, then a baby started crying, and someone wanted a drink and the party sort of went on as if nothing had happened.

I know that sounds really bad, as if I expected the world to stop spinning cos I asked them, and I wanted the fireworks to go off etc, I didnt, I just wanted it to be 'nice'. Or nicer than that at least. It felt like it was a sort of on the spot decision to ask and an on the spot reply from them (although I know thats not the case)

As soon as he said it, he looked at me and whispered "sorry" so I know he knew that he'd crossed the line, and he honestly didnt mean it. He just doesnt think and gets so caught up in the wedding he just wants to tell people EVERYTHING about it. And then that puts me in a spot, cos I cant get cranky about that, but it still upsets me that I can never seem to be the one that breaks the news. And I couldnt have a go at him about it cos I could see that he felt really bad about it, and I think hes a bit upset at how blase it all was. I know thats so selfish and irrelevant... I just needed to get it off my chest...

ANyway... sorry, vent over.

Did anyone make any decisions/ do anything interesting on the w/e?
Laurette
Oh Kate, I see why you are upset.

I really dont have any advice, and I agree that not much can be said to him about it as he really is upset about the outburst. I think that the best thing to do would be just leave it go, and then next time you are alone with the aunties, bring it up again and talk to them privately with only your H2B, with not heaps of others there too. If you can, go and visit them in a month or so and re-discuss it.

Did you have a good weekend otherwise? I played a bit of golf with Glenn on the weekend, and did alright. Good enough to get me back there anyway!

Other than that I just had a quiet weekend - did nothing yesterday and it was excellent!
Kate S
Yeah on the way home I just said 'Asking T & C didnt really turn out how I expected' and he was very apologetic, which made me feel bad for being upset.

Im not going to make him feel bad for the sake of it... but it still doesnt stop me wanting to grab his shoulders and shake him with all Ive got for a good 10mins.

We see them every other weekend, so we'll just go from there. I dont want to make a big fuss over it, they have been asked, albeit not as planned, and theyve said theyd do it, so at the end of the day we got the result we were after.

Yeah I did have a good w/e. We spent most of yesterday at mums with my older sister, who is a classic. We got into a giggling fit that lasted about 2 hours on and off.... I love stupid moments like that. Ive got a big grin on my face remembering it!

Ohhhh Id love to play golf... except I dont think Id be very good at hitting the ball... I just want to drive the buggy!!!
Kate S
Laurette, do you veiw all the active topics???

I just went to post in a thread, and you we're the last poster in there, so Im not posting in there til someone else does!!!!!!!!

Surely other people will notice and start talking!!!!! ohmy.gif

Kate,
Laurette's advice is what I would go with I was trying to come up with something else but she has said it all>that is how I would aproach it.Unfortunatly MEN sometimes put their mouths into gear before their brains and us women seem to be the ones who get hurt by what they say.As you said he did apologize for what he said. But sometimes they do need a good shake every now and then.

Hope your feeling better about it all now.

QUOTE (Laurette @ Mar 31 2005, 11:19 AM)
Hi Lucky

I am from Temora, NSW - although originally from Wollongong (wish I was there so I could have the reception at the Novotel and have pics on the beach - sigh).

I havent picked a dress or anything really! We are having our reception at the local golf club (h2b is very involved out there) and it's just a plain room painted pink with windows over the golf course and the bar at one end. Not real thrilling!

I was also thinking about putting the girls in silver, or more likelyl gun metal grey (metallic). We will just have to try them all and see what works best on them. I think that a light silver would wash them out (some of them).

I really want to get going on these invites and making things!

The Riverina Bridal fair is on in June - so I will go to that and hopefully get some ideas and that will be crunch time - it's all on from there.

Kate, your colour choice sounds DIVINE. Absoloutely beautiful.

I cant wait to enjoy the planning with your and see it all come together, and then after that see the photos from the big day!

Laurette

Laurette,

Since we are both trying to organise our weddings in the riverina i'm sure we can help each other out. I actually live down in Oaklands but my wedding will be in griffith. There's this great bridal shop in wagga Nouveau Riche turn right at Remanos. They have some gorgeous bridesmaids dresses and wedding gowns.

I've just booked our band. It's fusion from Griffith they are really good listened to them at Westend estate over easter. I'm going see the exies in griffith all set up for another wedding on the 16th of this month so i can final get a feel on how to do mine.

Anyway hope we can help each other

Tamara
Laurette
Hey there Tamara! Thanks for the reply!

I am sure that we will be able to help each other. I am planning on having a couple of hours with my BM's at Noveau Riche in a couple of weeks - I will have to organise that - better make an appointment!

I saw our reception place (the local golf club - wahoo) set up for a wedding on Saturday - it looked fantastic. They had everything white and clean, crisp looking with just glasses of orchids as the centrepieces - simple yet really effective. For place cards there were noodle boxes set up with the names of the person and organza ribbon around the box! I love it... ideas are forming in my little brain...

He he he

Make sure you drop in here more often Tamara!
Kate S
Got nothing new to add, just couldnt let one of your posts go by without me being the one to reply directly after laugh.gif tongue.gif wink.gif

Seriously tho, your reception place sounds gorgeous!!! I like simple. Tizzy just doesnt do it for me.

I wish you'd start pumping some of these ideas out. Im sick of talking about my wedding and need something else to get excited about. You're being a bit selfish wouldnt you agree tongue.gif

(personal joke which I use a lot with my bestie (and vice versa) - when we're talking excitedly about something, we tell the other that she's being selfish. Other phrases are "Its not all about you, you know" and "so where do I fit into this") Just in case I start using them in this context, you'll know Im being a smart a$$ and wont take it literally!!! )
Dancing Girl
Hi girls, just catching up with everyone's plans. I haven't had much chance recently to check in!

Kathy & Amanda, I love your reception place. It looks gorgeous!

Kate, I feel for you about the "slip" of mouth by H2B. My H2B keeps on blabbing to everyone the colour of BM's dresses - and that's really something I wanted to keep a surprise. It is frustrating, but I think Men sometimes just don't....think!!!

I had to laugh about Amanda (welcome to I-do Amanda) getting her own way with the GM's wearing pink by holding her breath and stomping her feet! Maybe I should try this!!! H2B finally agreed to the BM's wearing pink (kind of a tea rose/lilac pink) - a believe me, this was a story in itself!!! - when I raised the issue of GM's wearing pink, it was an unwavering no way! Anyway, our colour scheme is wine/burgundy, silver and a small amount of pink, so we are probably going to go with him wearing silver and the GM's in charcoal grey. It will offset the girl's beautifully and the boys will still be happy!!!

Laurette, I think your colour scheme of black, silver and a bit of pink will look gorgeous. Very elegant.

Nik - I can't believe how much you have organised already. I'm feeling very slack!!!

I'm off to check out some cars tonight. Should be fun. I'll let you know how we went!!

Jo.

Kate S
Hi Jo

what cars are you looking at? I really dont want a boring limo, but the GT club hasnt written back... and Im getting impatient!

What else have you planned?

(ps sorry to anyone having limos - theyre just not my first choice)
Laurette
It's OK Kate - I dont want limos either.

First of all, you cant get them in Temora, and even if you could, I think that they're a bit OTT. I like new, modern, hot cars... just my preference.

Hey Nik, make sure you keep us updated about your car issues - I saw that locked thread in the general wedding discussion.

ebbi
hey are we all getting organised...
Dont feel as silly now the weddings under a year away ha ha
has anyone booked their celebrant yet?
my dress should be here soon but i didnt think how am i going to store it for 12mths and not have it go funny?
unsure.gif
Kate S
Eb just buy a white sheet and cover it, and keep it in a cool, dark place. It should be fine.

Anyone who has read the 'second thoughts' thread will see that Im starting to doubt my dress.

I brought it off the rack, but got it really cheap cos its 2-3 sizes too big, and was the last they had.

Im scared that I just brought it cos its a bargain. Dont get me wrong, its a beautiful dress, but maybe not exactly what I wanted... And because its too big, I cant see EXACTLY what the finished product will be. I want to get my alterations done NOW so I can get a real feel for the dress, but who knows what will happen weight wise in the next 11 months. (Ive got plenty to lose, just dont know if it'll happen - Im not expecting a miracle)

sad.gif sad.gif sad.gif

Kate S
Also, anyone whose feeling creative, we need help with bonboniere.

We've brought shot glasses ($4 for 12 - BARGAIN!!!) and planned to put liquer filled chocs in them. We brought a few of the chocs to test out our theory and I reckon it looks a bit crappy. The chocs are too big, and they just look crammed in.

Anyone have any other ideas what we can put in them? Im even thinking about canning the whole shotglass idea and finding something else to put the chocs in, and considering we spent all of $30 on the shotglasses, its no major loss. (and the chocs are to die for, Id rather them than the glasses)
Laurette
I think that they look great with m'n'm's in them. There was a post somewhere about houw you can order them just in the colours that you want, ie you could order pink and green.

I will see if I can find it.
Laurette
I found it here although they dont ship to Aus, I just realised - so that's a pain...
