Full Version: Time to ask the Moderators to unlock the Sauna?

I've finally got some time on my computer to come on i-do, and it seems like I'm the only person in here sad.gif

This place has been such a big part of my life over the years, and I'm going to cling to it until it is prised from my fingers biggrin.gif

I was wondering if it is time to ask the moderators to unlock the Sauna at least? This was a place people posted short things, and got a lot of threads happening, as well as most of the really dramatic stuff this place ever saw biggrin.gif I hardly think, given the traffic at the moment, that there is any risk of the dramas of yesteryear re-emerging...

What do you all think?

Edited, because apparently I cannot spell on my phone.
Puggie
I doubt 'unlocking' those sections will will make a shred of difference to livening the place up.

Unless some drama does eventuate, that is. In which case you'll be bound to see some action!
SmittenKitten
I just got into the Sauna with the password, read some old stuff from 2009.

Interesting Topics! ohmy.gif

Puggie: I don't own imitation Target shoes anymore. I have upgraded to the good stuff tongue.gif Bought me some GORGEOUS boots last week! It amazing how 3 years can improve on your wardrobe.

We never did get to find out who Spiffy was did we?!? ph34r.gif

I know you can still get in there.

It's just I know a lot of people just hit the 'view new posts' button, and when they locked those sections they stopped appearing on the new posts.

I only just remembered that it was there recently and went back in and plenty of stuff happened in the last year that I never saw.

Good idea, I use the view new posts, maybe I was missing where all the action was!

It is soooo dead in here, I'll keep popping in - but what other forums do people suggest?? Was there a Vox Popoli or something??? Any other suggestions???

I just think we've all gotten boring and busy, and too nice on the whole wink.gif It's a vicious circle though, and one I don't know how to break.

All the mummies groups going off to Facebook isnt helping, and I find it very sad because I used to love seeing how friends were going and now they've all gone sad.gif

I'll keep posting in here until I'm the only one - I'll try to do some more interesting topics to spice things up!

I totally agree squeaza, it is sad to think what it was like here just a few years ago now and i do agree that everyone moving off to facebook hasnt helped, i love to read the mums to be threads especially those coming up to their due dates to see who has popped etc and its so hard now cause most of them have moved to fb sad.gif
anica789
I'm still here- although stalking mostly. I'm still hoping to get to do an anon preg thread one day laugh.gif

Yes Im another one who only hits "view new posts". Its a shame those sections don't show up there.
Good idea Squeaza.

Sauna does show up if you keep signed in smile.gif

Hmmmm, it doesn't for me unsure.gif I'm signed in to both the sauna and into i-do pretty permanently... and the posts never come up sad.gif

I too am pretty much always signed in and Sauna posts don't show in my 'view new posts' feed.

I'm like you Louisa, I'll always pop in here for a look-see. Miss lots of characters though...I think lots moved to the other VPL forum (which I tried, but I never got it to 'work' for me and I found the 'you HAVE to post thing a bit off-putting) and, of course, lots to facebook.

I miss the mummy-to-be groups and new mummy groups too but I must admit, it's lovely to have them on fb as it's a quicker and easier way to keep to keep in touch. Means I can't 'stalk' other groups though...and I used to learn so much from doing that, when I was pregnant with my first (due Oct 2008) I followed the May 2008 mummies and they told me pretty much everything I needed to know and I was so excited to meet my bub after watching them become mums.

Off to check into the sauna for a read!!
Sakorsha
Totally agree. I don't have those threads pop up in the 'View New Posts' either and I tend to forget about them sad.gif.

I'll always pop in here to check and/or post. I'm on a few other forums but they don't feel as comfy as I-Do does for me.
Monica
I posted in there recently ph34r.gif

Unfortunately I think I-do has become a victim of a couple of things...

Spammers, when they infest, are a PITA. Don't know the answer to this one, as they all seem to be real people, however poor their english skills are!

There was that blowup of nastiness about, oh 18 months or so ago now? I think a lot of people disappeared then, particularly with the emergence of the VPL forum sad.gif I've tried to get involved there, but I tend to go a few weeks at a time without posting anything (here too ph34r.gif ) and getting locked out continually is a bit off-putting.

I-Do's relevance as a wedding forum seems to have lessened pretty dramatically - there have been very few new members signing up for weddings specifically in the last couple of years, which means the place is less busy, therefore less googleable - vicious circle. I so miss looking at all the beautiful weddings that would happen every weekend!

FB has certainly had a big impact, my 2009 wedding group has gone over, and although we have tried to keep it here, my mums-to-be group is reasonably active there as well.

I am so grateful for the massive archive of collective knowledge here, especially regarding all things baby! I've learnt SO MUCH from this place over the years!

I wonder if the site owners care about the dwindling activity? Surely it can't be very good for their advertising revenue dry.gif

QUOTE(Vaalentine @ Jun 25 2012, 07:38 PM) *

The sauna & sealed sections have been showing up in my "view new posts" list.

Just now, or forever?

They're showing up for me now, but haven't for years before this!
crisis
I don't think they've ever showed up for me either.

Just had a squizz...needs a bit of livening up too I reckon!
Mellybel
For me it was the 'nastiness' - tried not to be involved but it got so I didn't like to post on anything :-(
