Daybreak
So after 11 years, Andrew and I have finally initiated regular dates. We're up to three now, and I can tell we're going to run out of ideas pretty soon. I'm sure there's other people who are stuck in a rut too, so thought maybe we could share ideas and help each other out.
So far we have:
* Been for a nice dinner, walked through the city to the Eureka tower and went up that (admittedly we had a voucher for that one) then bought gelati for dessert on the way back.
* Ten pin bowling
* Went to a movie (Brave - very good, if you're interested)

We were actually going to play mini-golf for date #3 but the weather was dodgy so a movie seemed safer.

What do you do for dates?

Katie we do all sorts of things:
*try new restaurants (which I will review),
*go out for breakfast/brunch
*cook a big breakfast at home and eat out in the sun (if we can't go out)
*take a drive to the beach and go for walk
*drive somewhere local that we've never been to (generally near water) and eat fish and chips
*Have a weekend away every few months;
*take our dog to a dog park or dog beach and run around with her
*go somewhere to take photos with our cameras

My sister and her (now) hubby have being doing 'Date Night' once a month for three years. I am jealous, it's a fabulous idea and it was very clever of them to get on to it before having kids!!

They have:

*Done many dinners out to many different restaurants, trying lots of different types of cusine (they use deals.com and scoupon etc to get bargains from time to time).
* Been to see local music gigs.
* Been to see many musicals and concerts (in May they went to Prince and I have even crashed a date night or two when we have seen things like West Side Story and Billy Elliot etc).
* Had nights at home with yummy take away and a movie and they'll give each other a foot rub or back rub too wink.gif
* Done some really special things like ballooning, visiting hot springs, scuba diving, etc. They usually get vouchers for these things as gifts and incorporate them into a date night or they do something quite special and spectacular when they are on holidays together and call it date night.
* Been for couples massages.

She has a whole album on facebook documenting 'date night', I shall have to go and check it out for more ideas!!

How lovely! DH and I are going on our first date in years, next week..

Things I'd consider doing -
* Art gallery/museum
* A show
* A movie
* Dinners/Lunches/Brunches
* Drive up a mountain, stop for some local shopping/coffee etc
* Bush walking
* Heading to a beach for a long walk
* Pamper - massage/spa
* Day trip somewhere (anywhere - just to explore an area we don't know)

We found outdoor cinema (at a park, not drive in, although that's be good if you can find one) and concerts/plays in the park to be lovely!
In summer tho!!!

Last night, we ordered pizza, and then played Uno and Scrabble. I had bought some snacks (sour cola bottles, chips and pods) but after dinner we didn't really need them.

It sounds fun Daybreak! I love playing board games but DH isn't so keen. sad.gif

We don't do dates really, but we like climbing into bed really early once a week or fortnight and eating dinner in bed and watching TV. That's about as date-y as we get, unless you count BJ night. ph34r.gif

We like to go out for dinner but I never considered that a date, although I suppose it is. We don't get out as much now that we are parents.

We don't do dates. Both been there and it's waaayyy too stressful!

But we always have spent a lot of time doing things together. Since having the kids we're a bit tight on the babysitting but we still try hard not to spend every evening in front of the TV.

We're thinking of starting regular "dates" as well... but we're not good at thinking about what to do so I've been searching the internet for ideas and here are some links that I've found:

- 77 fun date ideas
- Date night in a jar
- 200 date night ideas
- 50 fun and cheap date ideas

I must admit that I have bookmarked these with the intention to look at them later - so I'm not sre how useful they will be I'm sorry.

We tend to do the same things:
- movie night (at home or cinemas)
- zoo
- aquarium
- power house museum (esp if they have a dislay we like such as Lord of the Rings etc)
- Botanical Gardens (sydney, or Mt Tomah)
- Go on a picnic

Enjoy your date nights smile.gif

We are only just in the process of setting up regular date nights..

So far we have (after the kids are in bed) - watch a movie with a nice antipasto (sp?) plate and snuggle on the couch..

- game of chess or battleship (even connect 4 or snakes and ladders sometime tongue.gif )

we dont really get a chance for date nights
