I have to go to Cairns very briefly at the end of March, and we thought we'd try to sneak in a family-holiday around it, given that I'm having my flights covered, and probably some accommodation costs as well.
Ultimately, we're pretty happy staying anywhere, but I was looking into hotels/resorts that have babysitting or a kids club, so that we can possibly get a day or night out together without Master E.
We've been to Palm Cove before and loved it, but I'm not having a lot of luck with the places there. Given I have an evening concert in Cairns I don't want to be too much further north than that, and I prefer the quieter beaches to Port Douglas, but would be happy to look at anything if people have had good experiences!
Eddie will be 18 months old when we are there, and we'll probably be looking at an apartment with a kitchen rather than a hotel room.
If anyone has any suggestions, I'd be very grateful!

Don't have any specific places but try and get somewhere close to the lagoon! Cait had just turned 2 when we first went and we stayed with friends in the suburbs but were there every day! It has a sand area as well so you can play at teh 'beach' without being eaten by crocodiles!
The 'Muddy's Playground' part is a bit further up but I found that too advanced for Cait at that age. There's a few water spouts to wander round in but the play equiptment was too old for her.
Enjoy it, I love the place!

We hired a private house when we stayed at Palm Cove. It was very reasonably priced and was fully equipped with kitchen etc. I can't remember the name of it though but mum will know (we went as an extended family) so will get back to you.
ETA: This is the place we stayed at here
We managed to get it on fairly short notice at the end of August/beginning of September.
