Hi guys

we are due to go up to QLD next Friday and after working out costs of going to dreamworld and Australia zoo for 2 adults and a child, we may have to drop one, its plainly ridiculous

Does anyone have any discount codes or vouchers to either one of these places that may bring the cost down a bit. I really want to take the kids to both but its not looking like an option at the moment

TIA
Woodland
Hi there,
Sorry I can't help with the vouchers but I have just been to both Australia zoo and dreamworld with my 2 & a half year old son and personally I felt that Australia zoo wasn't worth the huge money. I would instead go to lone pine koala sanctuary as its much cheaper and my son enjoyed it more. They have crocs, kangaroos, koalas and many other animals there.
My son and I actually enjoyed seaworld more than dreamworld. The shows at seaworld are better and there seemed more rides for younger kids. Dreamworld was more for adults or older kids. The wiggles ride was ok but not really worth the big money to get in.
Hope that helps. Feel free to ask me any more questions as I live in Brissie so we go to these places a fair bit.

oh thanks heaps woodland. Have you been to the currumbin wildlife sanctuary and is that better than the koala factory, i think we may go to seaworld smile.gif

I haven't been to Currumbin in years but I remember it being great when I was a kid! Im sure its probably better than Lone Pine as its bigger. Enjoy your trip!

Currumbin is great and so is Lone Pine... bonus is that you have no chance of running into the Irwin family!!!
We went to Lone pine a few weeks ago and they are still recovering from the floods, were lovely and quiet and the staff were great. It is small but I liked the interactions you got, as in I was licked on the face by a dingo and was able to have a photo and cuddle with all the dingos which was a dream of mine since I love them.

We just took a trip up to QLD the other week & went to Australia Zoo, but only because it was closer to where we were staying (Noosa) than the theme parks. I would definitely choose Sea World & Currumbin over Australia Zoo if you have the choice.

I booked our tickets through our NRMA membership & saved 10% (given we spent over $100 in tix I guess it was worth it!).

Enjoy your trip biggrin.gif

Another thing to keep in mind is the currumbin sanctuary do free bird feeding every morning, you can't access the rest of the park, but the birds come down and sit on people etc to feed.

Friends of ours live near there and when we go up and stay with them the boys take the kids in the mornings at least once, they love it.

I was meant to come back earlier and say try googling for specials. In particular clever coupons and shopper dockets. Also if you or your partner are in your work union its worth looking at what coupons/discounts the unioon has. They often have good ones.

ETA -- If you decide that you are going up the coast a bit further I have a Adults at kids prices for under water world. But thats on the sunshine coast. I'm very north Brisbane for pick up planning. But I think if your going to seaworld, underwater wouldn't be worth it.

Discount coupons for the zoo are a popular need and people come from all over the countries to see this terrific animal attraction in world famous zoo. You can get discount coupons from the web by searching with zoo discount coupon. There is no specific place to find it because thousand of websites providing coupons.

That's really interesting about Australia Zoo! We're off to Noosa in October and were considering going to Australia Zoo. But might rethink it now after this thread.

Victoria - I've also heard good things about currumbin. We love the little Bee factory across the road. Everytime we're up there (We have family at Banora so we go up every year) we stock up on honey! The bee show was also good value and only takes up about 20 min of your day!

Have a great trip!! smile.gif

The small ones and I all have annual passes- it is SO worth it.

A typical day for us at the zoo is:

*Pat/have photos with some of the "roving" animals- baby aligators, birds, lizards, etc
*Play in the sand/fossils
*Check out the lizards, turtles, and otters
*Feed kangaroos
*Quick visit to the tigers or a spin on the teacup ride
*Feed the elephants
*Pat the koalas in the koala walk
*A stop for the bouncy castle and the "kids zoo" (goats and piglets they can feed)
*Over to "Africa" to see the giraffes, zebras, cheetas, etc
*Lunch while watching the show (birds, crocodile feeding etc- Bindi dancing and singing during school holidays)
*A visit to "the cave" where the Tasmanian Devils are
*Play on the playground
*Another stop to see the tigers- Levi's favourite.
*Check out the crocodiles as I drag them out.

I <3 the zoo, there is really more there than we can do in a day. (But be warned, the pony rides are only on on weekends).
