Hi Everyone

We recently got engaged biggrin.gif and are looking for small wedding ceremony and or reception venue in canberra. Our total guest list will probably be less than 50. Any feedback on venues would be great as well.

So far we like the old parliament house , house of reps rose gardens and the scc yacht club. We have hard thought that your ceremony isn't guaranteed at the OPH gardens as it is a public location.

Couldn't find anything in search as it wasn't working.

Any feedback and ideas would be great

We went to a wedding at the OPH gardens and I don't know about the situation with 'reserving' it but no one else was there at all! The couple also used a little kiosk in the gardens to do a cake cutting and have champagne with the guests after the ceremony. Loved that!

Also been one one at the yacht club, in a marquee with the ceremony lakeside. That was lovely too. The food was buffet and wasn't that great from memory but we had lots of canapes and drinks on the shore while the couple had photos done and that was amazing.

We've also been to a reception out at Gold Creek, can't remember the name of the venue but it was pretty awesome. The room wasn't huge and had a dance floor down the side so might be suitable for a smaller wedding?

ETA 'Functions at Federation' was the name of the venue I was thinking of.

I've been to a few weddings at OPH and they are all lovely. We got married there in one of the dinning rooms since it was winter and it was great. Our reception was a Rydges Capital Hill and the food was awesome

Poachers Pantry does good weddings if you only have a small number but I'd avoid the Abby at Gold Creek since they food was terrible.

thanks for these suggestions so far. Had a look at Gold Creek today, Gold Creek Chapel and functions at federation. Gardens at the chapel are pretty and its a nice cute little "church". Keep the suggestions and thoughts coming!

Hey,

How about the Yacht club? The lotus room is beautiful!

I was going to have mine there, but the guess list blew out too much
