Hi there

I'm BM for my bestie at the end of the year. We were thinking about the Hunter for a wine tasting weekend away and perhaps a nice dinner somewhere.

Has anyone done this and have any recommendations of places to stay/places to eat etc (I have never been to the Hunter myself so not really sure where to start). The other BMs have been, and are researching but I thought someone here might have done it before. There will probably be about 8-10 girls.

Thanks in advance.

One place you should definitely eat (especially if you are into degustation menus) is Muse - it's at the Hungerford Hill Winery. I have done a lunch time degustation with matching wines and it was absolutely sensational! It had some of the best food I have ever eaten.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza - awesome pool, nice bar area and it has a dayspa. It was a lovely place to stay.

I went there for an anti-hens weekend (long story tongue.gif) but we stayed in a place called Twin Trees which was AWESOME!! It is a bunch of self-contained cabins and we went as a group of 7 girls and we were in side-by-side cabins with a huge adjoining balcony. They have free movies to watch in the room, a BBQ on the balcony for big greasy brekky's, and they even brought us fresh eggs from the chooks that they have - and they are right in the middle of Pokolbin which is the main town where all the wineries are.

I have been to the Hunter Valley twice and we stayed there both times - the other time was just hubby and I and it was fabulous as private accommodation too. The cabins are spaced pretty far apart from each other which means you can make pleanty of noise and not have to worry about the other guests smile.gif

I've been for a hens party and it is great. Actually any excuse to go to the Hunter Valley and I'm there!

I think for the hens party we stayed at the Hunter Resort but I might be wrong (it was a few years ago) Usually if we go up with a group of friends we will look for a house or cabin to stay in. There are plenty that will take 10-12 people.

I've never been out for dinner there, usually we have a BBQ at night and drink our finds from the vineyards.

One place you should go on your winery tour is the Golden Grape. While I wouldn't recommend it if you were a serious wine drinker, but it is great on a Hen's do as they have shots for tasting and make a bit of a fuss about the hen.

I had my hens weekend at the Hunter Valley and it was amazing! Everything I could have asked for smile.gif

We stayed in the 3 bdroom villas at the Crowne Plaza. Basically everyone arrived at about 10ish I think, then we had champagne tasting at Petersens champagne house, with some yummy cheese & fruit platters while we were going. Then we all went back to the villas (I think it was about 2pm by this stage) and we had my "Kitchen Tea" in our villas, where there were lots of fun games & some very yummy homemade high tea! My kitchen tea pretty well went for a couple of hours, and then it was time for a relax & a few drinks (if it was warm, we were going to go for a swim, but it wasnt hot enough!) and then we got all dressed up for tea. Came back to the villas at about 9ish, where we had plenty more drinks & some naughty hens games. Breaky the next morning before everyone headed home smile.gif All up it was $120pp plus drinks, and everyone said that they had a fab time!

I am so glad I saw this thread. Now that I have the kitchen tea sorted I am arranging the hens day and I am thinking the Hunter Valley with a small group of girls - maybe 5 girls so we can go in one car.

Any other recommendations I would love to hear them biggrin.gif

Thanks for all the suggestions. We are still very much in the planning stages, so I will post what we end up doing :-)
