oooo interesting topic! Fiance & I are having a high tea luncheon theme for our wedding... we are having dips in cob loaves and antipasto for the first half our of drinks and then for the sit-down part (this is per person):
COLDS
a mini baguette, a petite wrap and the equivalent of a round of ribbon sandwiches
HOTS
6 pieces of hot food - sausage rolls with "bush relish", prawn & chicken kebabs & thai meatballs with chilli sauce
DESSERT BUFFET
1 piece of cafe size lemon meringue pie / tim tam cake
1 mini eclair or piece of slice or small custard tart
1 piece of wedding cake
fruit platters
coffee/tea

oh and at each place setting guests get a cupcake. smile.gif

I hope it's enough food... I fully trust our caterer and she is adamant it will be fine.

I'd love to hear more about your wedding. It sounds fabulous! smile.gif

thanks for replying smile.gif

our reception is only going to be held for around 2 hours from 2pm-4pm 9neither of us really like the spotlight, and being a sunday afternoon people will have work/travel so this suits us well)

we're looking at a menu of

SAVOURIES:
pumpkin scones
cheese&chive scones
sandwiches
sushi

SWEETS:
mini pavlovas with berries/kiwi
violet macaroons (a la masterchef)
scones with jam/cream
fairy cakes
small wedding cake for cutting purposes

DRINKS:
non-alcoholic sparkling wine for toasts
punch (for kids)
small amount of wine/beer (if we can get a permit - public place)
there's no power at our site, so tea/coffee isn't an option

I think 12-14 pieces per person is a good guide to go from, including sweets.

8-12 for savouries alone, and it's always better to have a bit more left over than not enough. For our engagement party I think we had 10 savouries per person and they all went wacko.gif so I'd err on the side of too much!

^^agree. This is pretty much what we were told by our reception venue as well when we considered a cocktail reception.
