Ok, so DS's fussy eating is now in it's second week.

I've been reading some of the posts here and I'm going to persist, but I tell you what, it's bloody hard going from having a great eater to a fussy one who picks and flings food everywhere. I usually give him finger foods for lunch, and spoon feed him at dinner time, just to be sure he eats everything. But now, that's gone out the window, so I just tip it all onto his tray and let him pick and fling.

Sigh.

Anyway, like I said, I'm going to persist, but I am seriously running out of ideas on what to offer him. The stuff I've been giving is mega bland. It's the same stuff he was eating when he was 12 months (which is probably why he flings it everwhere rolleyes.gif ).

So I'm trawling through the net trying to find some new recipes and ideas. I'm thinking finger food might be the way to go now, he doesn't seem to like us feeding him anymore unsure.gif

Oops..this post has turned into a bit of a vent tongue.gif Just wanted to know if there is such a thing as toddler ravioli? I saw a toddler eat some ages ago, they're smaller than regular ravioli, and I'm hoping a little healthier? Just had a look at homeshop.com.au and no luck.

Does anyone know if they exist and where I can get some as backup?

Oh and any food recs/recipes/backup meal ideas you have would be great too.

Thanks ladies.

Cartainly have seen them, most larger supermarkets have them (you could be really adventurous and try making some yourself, but I wouldn't LOL)

Latina fresh pasta's, with products just for kids

http://www.latinafresh.com.au/products.aspx?our=kids

Good luck, my kid doesn't eat either dry.gif

There definitely is... I just can't remember the brand or anything unsure.gif

It was in the same section of Coles as the other types of fresh ravioli/pasta, etc.

ETA ^^^ that's them! tongue.gif

Yep, as above.

Ashton LOVES it. I make it with a variety of sauces on it for him, but his favourite is mashed up avocado with a little bit of sour cream smile.gif

Ah yes, that's it!

I wouldn't be game enough to try to make them myself! I tried the zucchini slice recipe posted here a few days ago and he just picked off the bits of zucchini and then smeared the egg/bread mixture all over his high chair tray wacko.gif

Thanks for the link, might get some next week to keep as backup.

J loves the Latina kids pasta ^^. You can freeze it in small portions in snaplock bags so you don't waste too much in a flinging contest! We also find the 2 minute noodles with some grated cheese goes down well and is good for finger food.

Audrey loved the 2 minute noddles with a bit of cheese and some tuna stirred through.

No I make her maccaroni cheese with maccaroni (obviously) or the big spiral pasta is good for eating with fingers, I stir through some cheese spread or cream chees, grated cheddar and a little bit of parmesan and stir it all up, she absolutely loves it! And lately I ahve been adding some pureed carrot or zuch in there and she hasnt noticed wink.gif

I used to make raviloli for Makaela - I made as Makaela was a fussy fussy fussy eater and I wanted to make sure that I knew that she was getting all the right stuff.. When I could get her to eat it had to be finger food smile.gif

I would get Latina lasanga sheets - puree the veggies and meat as I would when makng her baby food - it was really easy.. smile.gif I tried with wonton wrappers aswell and she loved them aswell.

I have gotten the Latina kiddies range aswell and she loved them too.

2 minute noodles with grated veggies, chicken and cheese was a hit.

Small meatball with grated veggies were a hit aswell.. smile.gif

Good luck hun having a child refusing to eat is hard...

AAaarrrghhh!!

We tried the beef ravioli tonight. He wanted none of it and decided all he wanted to eat was the grated cheese wacko.gif

I guess that's a slight improvement since he didn't like eating cheese at all up until, well, tonight.

I want to cry! huh.gif

Crisis - hang in there. I tried the beef ravioli on Nina for a good couple of weeks and she just kept flinging it. All of a sudden this week, she loves it and cannot get enough. She is having at least 8 pieces for dinner with no sauce, yep, dry but she loves it.

Also, I just buy the regular Lattina or whatever is on special. Are there extras goodies added to the kids range? Never knew there was a kids range tbh?
crisis
Monica - I tried one and I think they're the same, but the kids version is smaller pieces.

I even tried cutting them into strips towards the end and mixed it with the grated cheese, but he caught on pretty quickly. Bah!!

Hmm...maybe I should try it dry next time. He doesn't like tomatoes so maybe the taste of the sauce I had put him off.
Monica
Nina doesn't like tomato either.
I gather the kids ones are more expensive, I will stick to what I have.
I bought spinach and ricotta to try - the meat one is quite strong so it might take your DS just a little longer to get used to it. She will eat them whole but the other day DH cut them in half and she ate more in total rolleyes.gif

Dry worked really well for us (plus it is less messy if it gets flung around). I just added a bit of grated cheese. I think the smaller size makes it more appetising for little mouths.

I'm not sure if he would be into this but I make "pizza toast" for J and he loves it. You could add all sorts of healthy things into the sauce if that helps. I just use the Leggos pizza sauce sachets and smear it on a piece of toast. I add grated pizza cheese and chuck it under the griller to melt. You can then cut it into fingers or triangles or even cookie cutter shapes.

My 2 year old LOVES the Latina kids cheese & vegetables ravioli with some grated cheese. She wolfs down her whole bowl full and she is a fuss pot!
~Emma~
hmm.. think its time to try this!!! That is if DH will leave some for her wink.gif
Monica
Nina loves the cheese and spinach one, she is having about 12 pieces for dinner!
They are on special this week at Coles - $4 save $1.25. I bought the chicken and mushroom ravioli today.

Do you guy cook the lot and freeze in batches? I used to freeze uncooked but decided to cook and just zap once thawed, so much easier.

Do it Em, Soph will love them

My daughter (massive fussy pants) loves the veggie and cheese kids ravioli but she will also eat adult versions (veggie and cheese) if I chop them in half. Initially she didn't like them either (she doesn't like anything first go rolleyes.gif ) but I just persisted and put a few down on her high chair tray each night. I also found that I have eat a few myself in front of her to get her going (she's a bit suspicious of all food). She doesn't like sauce on them at all so just has them dry (prefering her cheese on the side).
