Liam now has his first tooth, the bottom right. It was his 1st Birthday present!!

Angel_Elle
Yay on the first tooth.

Liam is able to walk but has decided crawling is quicker. We can get him to walk 3steps before he goes for the crawl. He is a true boy as he gets up on the lounge next to us, stands than launches at us. quite funny the way he does it.
AK2
Wow!

We were talking in April Mummies about moving our thread the other day....it's crazy to believe that we are here already.

Congratulations to all the March 09 babies on their first birthday!!
karry327
Thanks for starting this Claire smile.gif

We're having Ryan's birthday party this Sunday - a little picnic at a beach with family.

Not much to report on but he's using his walker all the time and I really think it's just a matter of days before he's walking by himself (have thought that for a while now though happy.gif)
claire_p
Thanks Amy, so hard to believe it has been a year already!!

Elle, Liam does the launch thing too. He likes to headbutt aswell unsure.gif

They are soooo fast at crawling these days hey. Liam is here one second and gone the next!! Liam walks holding our hand now but cant walk by himself yet. As soon as you let go of his hand he hits the floor and starts crawling. He did stand up by himself for about 10 seconds the other day.

Liam had his 12 month needles on Friday. He started crying before the needle even went in because he didnt like being held down. He had 2 in one leg and one in the other sad.gif He was fine after and had no reactions.

He had his 12 month checkup at the same time and he now weighs 10kg and is 77cm tall. He has had a growth spurt and I can definatley tell when I am carrying him now, he is so heavy!!

Here is a pic from Liam's party.

Karla, hope Ryan has a lovely party on Sunday and the weather is nice.
~steph~
Hey girls

Still can't believe this time last year I was dealing with a newborn!!

Lets see...
Adam now has 8 teeth and loves showing them off constantly especially when he is having a really good belly laugh with his brother.
He is a super fast crawler, however took his first independent (ie not holding anything) steps on his first birthday and is now walking like a drunken sailor across the room.
He is the ultimate climber and even managed to get on the kitchen bench the other week ohmy.gif H had pushed a few chairs together so he climbed onto the small kids chair then onto the dining chair then the bar stool and promptly onto the kitchen bench.
He had his shots the other day, enjoyed watching the first but was mighty unimpressed with the next two!!! Put him off his food for a couple of days too!
He is a great eater so far - total opposite of H that is for sure!!! However it appears that I have to keep his protein intake up at dinner time to get him through the night, and even then he seems to have gotten into the habit of waking at midnight again sad.gif Between him, his brother and getting called for work I am not getting a hell of a lot of solid sleep which is slowly doing my head in sad.gif
Anyway here are a few piccies...

We don't have any photos of him walking yet, although lots of video!!
karry327
Steph, Adam is just adorable! Love the pic of him with his walker wub.gif
Angel_Elle
wow liam and adam are getting so much bigger.

My little munchkin is a food monster he will throw a tanty if someone is eating or drinking in front of him until he gets some. He pretty much eats what i eat just cut up into tiny pieces. We only seem to get him done for a midmorning sleep now he refuses to have an afternoon kip.

Oh and the crawling fast is driving me insane if im in the kitchen i just have to open a cupboard or fridge and hes right in the pulling things out. Yesterday milly stole a piece of cake and he went for a rissole when i open the fridge to get some water out.

Steph -- eek at the climbing.

Milly is doing the same thing setting things up to encourage liam to join her. Iv rescued them both from the top of the lounge. Unfortunately yesterday she attempted to climb his chest of draws and the result was them tipping over luckily she landed on top of it all and liam was just to the side and only got a slight hit from a draw.
claire_p
Adam looks so grown up. A little boy now wub.gif Great to hear he is going well, sorry to hear he is waking through the night though.

Elle, my Liam is the same with food!! I have to eat in a different room if I want to eat in peace wink.gif Liam has weetbix for breakie and once he has had enough I make mine and then he tries to eat mine too. Its the same with everything.
princess-lissy
Yay, we have made a year.......well almost in 4 days for us!!!! biggrin.gif We are having Thomas' party this Sunday, just our family and the bubs from MG.

Thomas has 7 teeth, just got the last one yesterday, and has not been sleeping well before its arrival ohmy.gif hoping this will improve very soon as having 3 hours a night is just not cutting it!!!!

Thomas is still only comando crawling, but fast, trying to get him to go on his hands and knees which he does for a few and then he just drops back to his tummy and is off again!!! unsure.gif
He has only just in the last few weeks started sitting himself up from his tummy (has been going from sitting to tummy for ages) finally and puling himself up to standing and trying to walk blink.gif and I am of course his favorite climbing frame!!!!

Thomas is also the same with food, eats everyting he sees!!! I also have to eat in private otherwise he wants mine as well as his the little pigglet!!!

Will have to pop back in with some pics of his party, but going off to bed now so I can get a bit of shut eye, just incase it is another bad night!!!

Cant quite beleive how much everyones little ones have grown, look forward to seeing more pics of them!!!
Angel_Elle
Claire you are lucky you get to have brekie. I tend to have to give Liam his 2 wheetbix then attempt to have my "wake up" coffee standing the moment i enter the kitchen im under attack i just tend to find eating too hard. Though im back eating 2 meals a day - i was down to occasionaly eating here and there and somedays it was just coffee/chocolate.
Avery
Hi Ladies,

So glad that I’ve finally got the internet up and running at our place and that has coincided with this thread starting. I would have loved to join you all in the 0-12 months thread, but only having intermittent access to the net make it difficult... hope it’s not too late to join you all now smile.gif

So for our update ... My little possum is now 1 year and 2 days (still can’t believe it!) wub.gif She has 8 teeth (and is currently teething her canine teeth which is proving pretty awful) and she is taking her first steps – although once she realises what she is doing she loses concentration and falls to the ground.

Most of the time she insists on feeding herself, and the novelty of that for me has defiantly worn off. I’m so sick of finding sneaky bits of food on the floor, and trying to wrangle her to wipe her face and hands off after every meal! rolleyes.gif Still haven’t had many words from her which was really worrying me for a while, but I know it’s not because she doesn’t understand and she will start talking when she is ready.

As for me, I think the last 2 years have been the hardest of my life (with lots of issues during pregnancy and after her birth) however I wouldn’t change any of it for the world... it’s made us who we are today.

And as much as I love her, I’m still a while off agreeing to TTC our next one tongue.gif

But anyway, here are some pics:

Evie on her naming day/first birthday party (and the only photo of her that I have in this dress where she isnt crying or frowning) laugh.gif

And me and my cheeky monkey on her birthday:

Angel_Elle
Welcome back Shelley great to hear from you biggrin.gif

Have you tried giving evie a wipe to distract her whilst you then clean her face i found that trick worked a few times on the kids.

As for talking Milly said the odd word around 12months but from 18months onwards she just became more vocal. Liam is only saying the odd couple of words but i expect from 18-24months il prob hear alot more then.
karry327
Hi Girls,

Ryan isn't really saying anything either. He babbles and says mamamam, dadadadad, bububub etc but isn't specifically calling me mum IYKWIM?

I recall Lachie starting to talk a lot around 18 months (and he's never stopped since ph34r.gif).

Gees, all your bubs eat a lot. I'm lucky to get 1 weetbix into Ryan! Usually follow up with some toast but most of that is pegged rolleyes.gif
claire_p
Great to hear from you Shelly biggrin.gif Evie is gorgeous wub.gif Thats a very pretty dress smile.gif

Liam doesnt say much either. At the moment he says Dad, Mum and Bub. Like the others have said once they get to about 18 months they start talking non stop!! I think Liam tries to say cat, dog and duck too but they dont come out like that.

Liam isnt a huge eater. I make 1.5 weetbix for him in the morning sometimes he eats it all other times he doesnt.

How many bottles are the bubs on now?? Do any of you give them cows milk yet??
Liam still has 3 bottles of Formula. He has a bottle around 10am, 3pm and 8pm. He had cows milk when I ran out of formula overseas and he went okay with it. Just not sure whether to change to that or maybe go up to the Toddler formula unsure.gif

It's great to see this thread has revived us (is that the word). We got so quiet in the other thread!!
Avery
oh, im so glad that evie is going ok with her talking smile.gif I figure her dad is pretty quiet, so she might be that way as well.

Evie is on 2 bottles per day now - 8am and 6.30pm, and ive just switched her to cows milk (After a few days of 1/2 formula & 1/2 cows milk) My baby health nurse wants me to cut out her bottles all together and only give her milk from a sippy cup, but I just cant bring myself to take the bottles away from her. She loves them so much and gets so excited about her bottle after dinner.

I wasnt sure about going to toddler formula, but the nurse told me that as long as a child has a good diet cows milk is fine. Plus evie is bigger for her age and apparently toddler milk has alot more calories in it. I did buy a few of those single serve sticks of toddler forumla but she didnt like it.
claire_p
Liam is the same, loves his bottle too much. Might keep the bottles for another month or so then try the sippy cup. Maybe I should just change to cows milk, I guess it would be alot cheaper and as long as they are getting all the nutrients through their food. Cant rememeber when I did all this stuff with Keira rolleyes.gif

How many sleeps are they having now?? Liam still has 2 sleeps, one after his morning bottle from around 10am-11.30 and another after his arvo bottle from about 3pm-5pm. He knows it is sleep time after a bottle so just trying to work out if I cut down to 2 bottles and 1 sleep what the best time would be. I dont want him to go down at 11am and sleep till 2pm and miss out on lunch unsure.gif
Angel_Elle
from around 9months liam was getting the odd cows milk sippy cup - i eventualy had him so it was half/half until Milly decided to empty the full tin of formula on the ground that i moved him fully over to milk hes doing really well - i dont think hes missing out on much the way he eats but both the kids get a strawberry milk at least once a week (i use nutribooost for them).

Sleeep - whats that. Lol Liam goes down for a nap at 9.30 he will either protest or crash for anywhere from 20mins to 3hours then thats it for the day til his bedtime at 6.30/7pm
karry327
Ryan still has 2 sleeps at around 9am and 1pm. He really needs his sleep and just can't last past 3 hours.

I'm slowly weaning Ryan onto cows milk. He still has 3 bottles and I've just started giving 180ml formula and 30ml cows milk in each bottle. Next week I'll give 150ml formula and 60ml milk etc. I remember with Lachie I made the transition to cows milk too fast and he got terribly constipated so trying to wean a bit more slowly this time.
Avery
Evie is still on 2 day sleep, but I have a feeling she is going to be dropping the morning one soon. She goes down around 9.15am - 10.30am, and then again at 2.00pm - 3.30pm. Mind you most of the time she is either sitting in her cot awake or crying/whinging.

We did tresillian last year and they recommend cot time of at least 1.5 hours. So whether she sleeps or not, she stays there - unless she is really distressed.

I also had a bit of a question for your girls - if you used a sound and movement monitor - are you still using it? Im at the stage where i think its a bit more of a pain, but I wouldnt want to take it away if she is still at high risk of SIDS ...
~steph~
Welcome Shelly, the more the merrier, it is so nice to see this thread up and running again, I have missed talking to someone with a baby the same age!!!

Adam isn't saying words as such at all yet, but not worried it took till 18 months for H to say anything of substance and now I just wish he would be quiet for 10 minutes ph34r.gif

He is still on 3 bottles a day, all cows milk as of 3 days ago, I am also starting to give him his milk in a straw bottle, when we remember wink.gif . We went to a dietician with H the other day and she said toddler formula is really of use if their diet is really bad/limited or there are allergies involved otherwise she recommends full cream milk.

He is still having the two sleeps, although a few times he has just had the one. It really depends on how long his first sleep is. First one is around 11.30 for anywhere from 40 minutes to 3 hours blink.gif If he has a second sleep it is around the 4pm mark usually only for an hour.

Shelly I turned the movement part of the monitor off about three months ago, but only because we only have the one sensor pad and Adam is a huge mover in bed and it was constantly going off and waking him. He sleeps ok at night but not really well and the last thing I needed was extra wake ups!!!! I found not putting it on during the day first was a good way to wean myself off it. Then a couple of weeks later I stopped turning it on at night.

Better go get H some lunch then it is swimming lessons this arvo.
♥Lynda♥
Hi girls, I know I am crap and slack and everything...

Well We have a very active baby girl she has discovered she can climb onto our couches so now I have baby safed our lounge room. I have two single bed mattresses on the floor around the single chaise lounge. That way if she falls off and I am not within two steps she won't hurt herself when she hits the tiles lol. She is walking and trying to run which is the funniest thing I have ever watched. She has some days 2 sleeps and other days 1 big sleep. It's good now that both boys attend school as she gets a big sleep after deccy has gone at 11.30am. I am enjoying it as it is so quiet and the first couple of days were a shock lol.
Aali eats like a trooper and will eat everything and anything lol. She now goes to the fridge and when you open the door she stands there pointing. Her favourite at the moment is sliced cheese. She is on normal cows milk and has a couple of sips of her bottle when she first wakes up. Apart from that she uses her sippy cup and sometimes a normal cup when the boys have left it within her reach. I have put a couple of videos on FB of her walking and a little bit of her dancing. Will have to get one of her really dancing as its cute and put it up. She has just gone to sleep now so hoping its a good nap and not a cat nap. She is into everything and likes to help. When I change her out of her pj's of a morning and put her day clothes on she takes her pj's to the laundry. At the moment she throws them on the floor next to the basket but we are getting there. When I sweep she uses the little broom (banister brush) to help sweep. She now hates baths but loves the shower and likes to stand under the water by herself. She has a temper when she doesn't get her own way too.. I just can't believe how quickly she has grown and how fast this past year has gone. I am so in love with my baby girl and she now thinks she is the comedienne of the house and loses it laughing over the silliest things and its so cute. She is so loving and loves to gives kisses and cuddles. I had missed that so much with the boys having special needs and not doing it. wub.gif
Ok I have rambled on heaps. I am glad that you started this thread Claire and so happy to see all the comments and how everyone is doing. Will try and get back later to do personals. Sorry it has been all about Aali this post.
Raelene
Hi all
Long time no speak. Sorry I disappeared. just too much going on and things really haven't changed all that much! Can't even remember when I last posted but probably in the very early months with Stephi. Claire, thanks for the PM wink.gif

Her first 12 months was interesting with a big curve ball thrown our way when she started having trembling episodes. I only noticed them while she was feeding but couldn't guarantee they weren't happening at other times. We ended up seeing a paed and she had a cranial ultrasound which was a rather traumatic experience for her sad.gif The results came back all clear from that but we have review in late April to follow up on other issues he picked up - some sensitivity issues in her legs and some concern over her showing hand dominance at an early age

Other than that her development has been normal. Between the first visit to the paed and her review for test results she started crawling so he was happy with that. Within days she was pulling to a stand and cruising furniture. That was around 7.5 months and she is STILL just cruising furniture although has taken to using me as a walker lately and is rather pushy, very determined about which way she wants to go. Her latest trick is to walk backwards and she thinks she's SOOO clever.

She has never been a good sleeper (one of the reasons I hadn't been around much) and is still waking at least once every night, more often twice. She varies between one and two sleeps a day and they can be anything from 20 mins up to a couple of hours. I never know what I'm going to get

She eats really well! Gives everything a go. We went baby lead weaning with her just as we did with G and they are TOTALLY different in their eating habits. Love having tiled floors wink.gif

We also have a climber. She will push the kids chairs up to things and then climb up. I'm sure its just a matter of time before I find her on the dining table. Someone else mentioned a launch at mum and dad - she does that too. No respect for her body! I'm not sure which of our children will have the first broken bone! THey're all adrenaline junkies!

She loves to make noise and does have a few definite words. Mum, dad, bub, bye, hi and bbbboob laugh.gif This one comes complete with raspberries. Oh she also says nigh nigh and waves. She actually starting saying bye and waving at the start of this week. We were leaving school and she did it to A as we got up to go

She has 6 teeth. Four on top and 2 bottom. 3 of the top ones were a real drama cutting - high temps and discomfort and pain. Made me so sad seeing her going through it

I'm loving seeing all these grown up little people. So different from the last time I saw photos of them all (apart from those I see on FB)

I make no promises about being a regular poster - am now working from home at least every second evening plus other commitments with kids but I will try wink.gif
Avery
Morning Ladies,

Thought I would pop in here while Miss Evie is in bed (and while I’m trying to avoid the washing up), had a rough night again – she is coming down with the flu I think – bad runny nose and those really sad, sick, glassy eyes sad.gif so I’ve had to cancel her 12 month vaccinations until she is feeling better.

~Steph~ - thanks for the monitor tip, I’ve decided to stop using is during the day (when hubby isn’t home, otherwise he insist it be turned on) and I’ll work my way yup to leaving it off during the night.

Smurfy – I’m glad to see that Evie isn’t alone in her tantrums. I feel like I’m constantly trying to get things done in double-time, because if something isn’t done on her time, it’s on! And done even get my started on her little frustration tantrums, although it’s all a part of growing up I guess.

Raelene – Sorry to hear the first 12 months haven’t been so great, but good to hear that your little one is going good now after that early scare.

Well, I don’t think I have too much more to report, other than I went to see a naturopath yesterday for a condition I’ve had for years and she pretty much told me not to start TTC again for a while, which I’m not unhappy about, just scared me because my body still hasn’t come back from my last pregnancy. Not a huge surprise tho – I still feel like I’m not ‘right” in my body yet , but am wondering how long it’s going to take?
~steph~
Hi Smufy!!! Glad to hear things are going well in your household. I am not surprised you found it a bit of a shock when both boys started going to school!! You must be loving your time out though.

Raelene so great to hear from you again biggrin.gif Really sad to hear things aren't so good though, however I guess it is a huge relief to at least see her reaching her milestones at a pretty early age. Hope the follow up appointment goes well in April.
Tell me about the night wakings. Last night was my first night off call for work in a fortnight (were I got called just about every night and have worked a total of 2 extra days over that time, all at night!!!) so what does Adam do?? Wake at midnight and scream till 1 sad.gif ended up lying in the spare bed with him till 2 before transferring him, then Hayden wakes 1/2 hour later for water... so in fact I got no more sleep than in the last fortnight!!!!! Hoping tonight is a better night!!
Something we did find that improved his sleep was loading him up on Protein at dinner time. Makes him feel fuller for longer so he isn't always wanting milk in the middle of the night.

Shelly Sorry to hear Evie isn't well, definitely better to put the needles off then, hope she gets better soon, although probably best not to tell her that when she gets better she gets her needles, or you might be waiting till she is 20 tongue.gif laugh.gif Let us know how you go with the monitor. I am using the same approach with the screen door we have on his door to keep the cat out. Although he isn't a lap cat so shouldn't really have any issues.

Our big news is that Adam did his first solo swim on Thursday!!!! Ok so it was with a back bubble and arm floaties and only for a short time but he was actually able to keep his head up and move himself!!

Right better go, Adam is in bed, Hayden is helping his daddy in the garage and I have photos to put in the album from October last year!

Hope you all have a good weekend.
claire_p
Lynda- Great to hear from you. Sounds like things are going well and must be so quiet with both boys in school. I love my Wednesdays when Keira is at pre-school so I can have some time playing with Liam, just the 2 of us wub.gif

Raelene - Great to hear from you too biggrin.gif Sorry to hear things havent been all good sad.gif Hope Stephi's follow up appointment goes well in April.

Shelly - Hope little Evie feels better soon. Liam has been sick for a month now, but it wasnt enough to get him out of his needles. He didnt have a temp so she gave him the all clear. If he still has his cough and runny nose at Easter I might have to take him back to the Dr again. He has already had anti-biotics for a bacterial infection and there isnt alot you can give them for a cough.

Steph - Yay, for Adam solo swimming. I think if I let Liam go he would swallow a heap of water laugh.gif He isnt that great at holding his chin up yet, but we will get there. Meanwhile, Keira is going really well now and only has the backfloat these days.

Well, Liam has his 2nd tooth biggrin.gif So now he has the bottom 2.

I am going to start him on some cows milk on Monday. He is currently on 3 formula bottles and I am going to change the arvo bottle to an afternoon tea with cows milk from a sippy cup and a yoghurt. Then after a week or so do the same with his morning bottle. I think I will keep the bedtime bottle for a while yet though. To afraid he wont last the night otherwise!!

So great to see a few posts in here when I login now. Hope to hear from you all even if it is only everynow and then.
Avery
Hi Ladies,

Just popping in again while I have some time this morning. Evie is happily having her morning bottle (which I’m still unsure about getting her to give up ... I’m not ready for that just yet! Lol)
She is feeling much better - actually we both are because my lovely daughter decided to share her sickness around with me, and honestly, if she felt ½ as bad as I did, I’m surprised she wasn’t more irritable.

~Steph~ Go Adam with his solo swim! Are you taking him to lessons or teaching him yourself?

Claire – How is Liam going on Cow’s milk? Has it been an easy transition?

I don’t really have all that much else to add, although just a bit of fluff – I brought Evie a wondersuit the other day for her to use as Pajamas and while she hates it, I so so love her in it. I’ve been feeling quite nostalgic since she has turned one, and she lived in wondersuits for the first few months of her life, and when I found one in a bigger size, I had to have it.

This was her this morning:

How has everyones easter been?

Well Liam is finaly walking more. Damn slacker he has been - he could at 10months but found crawling quicker (and probably safer when milly was around as she used to push him over when he was standing). He is walking around til he falls over then its back to crawling so wont be long til he gets the hang of it
Nathalie
Sorry I've been MIA... So lets see...

Shelly - Great idea of 'cot time', I think I'll use this idea... can you tell me more? We have a visual monitor, and still check on him that way... Its cute to see him smiling at no one and nothing in the dark... What do u mean not 'right' in your body? Periods/weight? IMO it takes until the baby is walking to feel 'right'

Steph - I'm with you - "Maddy, pls dont speak, my ears hurt"

Lynda - OMG walking and climbing and dancing - cute

Raelene - Cute, a moonwalker. Tiled floors - LOVE THAT!

As for Coby...
Eats - Fine, ceral/toast, lumpy mush, and crackers and our dinner but smaller. Has regular milk 2-3 per day and some diluted juice - in soft spout sippy's
Does - NOTHING! Cant bum shuffle, crawl, cruise, NOTHING! Back to development clinic we go... They are not to worried as his range of sounds is good, he is socially active - a flirt like his mummy, and altough no words he does respond to 'commands' clap hands, kiss, cuddle etc
Sleep - Never up in the night. Down at 7 pm up at 8 am, nap at 11 am for 1.5 hrs and that it... he needs another arvo sleep but cause he doesnt move his body at all he isnt tired.

Eventhough he is still just sitting up, I do enjoy just leaving him on the floor and knowing he cant get anywhere or do any damage!

He has just cut a molar... and there is another on the way... so thats 9 teeth!

Me - Looking for a new job... I dont want my old one, but its hard to find part time... But need to go back to work, as we cant all fit in a a 2.5 brm apt for too much longer... and once working and have a house we'll ttc #3! I'd like to start in ttc in 1 yr, after Coby is 2-2.5... But who knows...
I'd post some pics, but it takes ages... Is there another way to post pics here rather than go from laptop>photobucket>i-do

How cute is my bunny!

Oh yes.... Behold my cake creation!

Evening ladies biggrin.gif

Angel_Elle – how exciting that your little one is walking. My DD is the same, iIlove to watch her tottering around – she wanders with her belly poking out – so cute!

Nathalie – Yup, you sure do have a cutie! biggrin.gif

About your “cot time” question. At Tresillian they told us that babies from 10 months – 14 months need about 1.5-2 hours sleep both morning and afternoon, and they suggest leaving your child in their cot for at least 1.5 hours.

When we first started this it was just horrific. Evie would scream for 30 minutes, sleep (from exhaustion) for about 15 minutes, then scream and whinge for the rest of the time, but the nurses advised that if we started getting her up before the 1.5 hours was up, she would know she was able to get her own way.

Even tho she took alot longer to get used to the day sleeps (nights were better after just 3 nights at Tresillian) we kept at it, and didn’t deviate from their rules. And now 4 months on, she still has hit and miss day sleeps, but all in all she sleeps at least 45minutes to an hour and usually just starts crying towards the end of the 1.5hours. i’m positive she knows that she is expected to stay in her cot for that long, so she may as well sleep.

I know controlled comforting isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but its certainly worked for us.

As for my “not right in my body” comment, I’m not really sure how to explain it...I had HG for almost all my pregnancy (plus a bit of a health scare with bubs, so that added stress), and I feel like I haven’t fully recovered from that IYKWIM? I feel I have alot of work to do before my body is prepared to conceive (if we are lucky enough to be blessed again) but I’m seeing a fantastic naturopath who says she will fix me up biggrin.gif

Did the development clinic give you any info on when they are meant to start using words? Evie sounds alot like Coby. She is vocal (screaming, raspberries etc) will respond to commands, knows family members, will point for anything she wants, but all we have so far is “mum mum” and “bur” for bird. I know everyone says “once they start talking you will just want them to shut up” but i so want to her what her little voice sounds like properly wub.gif

And ... we might be in the same TTC cafe ... I’m hoping to start January 2010 (hubby hoping to try a lot sooner tho) ph34r.gif

... So is cot time 1.5-2 hrs morning and again in the arvo? Or just x1 per day. Coby gets the reccomended 13-14 hrs sleep out of 24 hrs - so he is well rested.

Talking/words is very broad milestone... But they should have 1 'word' at around give or take 6-8 wks... Mum mum and bur are words! so thats good!

Maddy had 10 words at least by 1! Her 1st word at 10 mnths 'baby' it actually sounded more like buby... was amazing, but then she only bum shuffled at 1, and walked at 21 mnths!

They are all different... I'm worried about Coby, but my intuition tells me its his personality and his genes... he 'understands' and 'explores' and 'engages'. Which are the big things.

sorry, its 1.5 hours min cot time per sleep, so 1 in the morning and 1 at night.
She is also in bed at 7pm, and usually up around 6/7am.

Whats your partner like? I know my hubby is very quiet and not a big talker, so perhaps my daughter is just a bit like that. But your right, he sounds like he is doing everything right, just making you wait for some words tongue.gif

Hi girls biggrin.gif

I've been another one whose been missing from here for a while ph34r.gif .

Having started full time teaching again at the start of the year has really taken it out of me and I am so exhauseted most of the time!!!! I have been reading your posts most of the time, but just have not been able to post!

I'm on holidays this week and am loving not being in such a mad rush in the mornings. Ben is actually sleeping in this morning. He usually wakes at 6:00am and it is almost 8 and he is still out.

I am still part time bf, basically just in the morning and in the evening. He is still waking at night though and I really need to work on a technique to get him sleeping through. He goes to sleep really well now after I read him a story, but still wakes for a feed anywhere from 2 - 4 times a night. wacko.gif

Ben is almost walking independently now. He walks about 6 steps by himself before he tips over. He usually just holds onto my hands & races around the room. His problem is that he wants to run instead of walk!!!

No real words yet, just mummummumm, daddaddad, but not really with any meaning.

He eats / likes most things which is great. Still doesn't like bananas for some reason!

He goes to sleep at 7:00pm and still has 2x day sleeps of about 1 hour each.

The little man is now stirring so I'll BBL for some personals & hopefully put up some pics as well (if I remember how!!)

Aries - Great to hear from you glad things are going well. Would love to see some pics of Benjamin wub.gif

Nathalie - Coby is such a cutie and what a great cake!! I wouldnt be too worried that he isnt on the move yet. You said Maddy was only doing a bum shuffle at 1 and didnt walk till late so it must just be in his genes. I would love it if Liam just sat there. He gets into everything these days!!

Liam isnt walking yet but I dont think it will be long.

We took the kids to the Easter Show on Sunday. Liam just loved the animals. It was funny when we walked in to see the cows he started screaming out Baaaa, Baaaa, so I said no Liam they say Moooo laugh.gif I got Liam, Thomas and Sesame Street showbags and Keira got Dora, The Fairies and Lazy Town. They were spoilt!!

Shelly, I didnt end up giving him cows milk in a sippy cup but I did give him some in a bottle and he didnt mind it. Sometime this week I might change it to the sippy cup. He loves his bottles so much that I dont really want to make the change.

Hi Girls,

Another one here who was incrediably slack last year and again cant make any promises to post regularly but would like to try.

I'm loving this age! So much fun!

Brielle is crawling and mostly crab crawling with legs up straight and trying to run doing it! But so far no walking attempts. She's just started this weekend standing on her own and thinks she pretty clever doing it too coz she's claps herself and grins really proudly!

She's never been a big eater or drinker so we're down to 2 bottles. One 120ml one in the morning and a 260ml one before bed.
MNH told me at 12 -15 months to try to ditch the bottles completely but I think I'll keep the night one at least for a while yet.
The recommendation is switch to cows milk at 12 months and for them to have no more than 3 glasses (child glass is 120ml so no more than 360ml) a day of milk. Each to their own though I think and its just a guideline.

She refuses to be spoon fed unless she's eating weetbix or pasta so its finger food for us for each meal. Breakfast she has 1 weetbix and a slice of toast, lunch is usually a sandwich and dinner is whatever we eat. She has yoghurt and rice crackers for morning tea and fruit and yoghurt in the afternoon. Not a lot though.

Brielle was talking a lot but thats eased off a bit now. She says Mum, Dad, Nana, Cat, Duck, Bubble, and tries to say bottle and quack. When she points to things she babbles a blurred sound that sounds very much like "What's that" which we say to her a lot so maybe it is that.

Sleep wise she sleeps 7.30pm till about 6am and has decided she only wants one day sleep which is usually a big one of about 3 hours, 10am - 1pm. I'm about to start moving it back to 10.30 and eventually hopefully we'll get to lunchtime before she goes down. So at the moment lunch is normally a late one so I try to give her a big morning tea if she'll take it.

She has 8 teeth (all incisors) and is currently teething with her bottom 2 first molars which are giving her grief.

Its great to read how everyone else is going and seems most of the bubs are all at the same stage with many things, not that it matters as they all get there in their own time.

Hope to keep up in here more. x

Gone a bit quiet in here again.

Liam still isnt walking but he has started climbing and now knows to go backwards to get down off the lounge, down stairs etc.

I had him weighed at 13 months and he is now 10.8kg and 78cm tall, he was only 10kg at 12 months, so he has put on heaps. He eats so much these days so I wasnt surprised. He is getting so heavy to carry around all the time now so I hope he starts walking soon!!

Still only the 2 teeth, but I think to top ones will appear very soon.

Hope you are all well smile.gif

I was thinking the same thing sad.gif

We are going ok here ... although in the space of 3 days 5 ohmy.gif yep, 5 new teeth have appeared. 4 molars and 1 eye tooth andit just breaks my heart to I see her so uncomfortable and in pain. So we are in panadol and puree mode laugh.gif
princess-lissy
HELLLOOOOO!!!

Yes I am still around smile.gif just dont get too much time to write on here!!!

Claire- Wow Liam has put on quite a bit of weight since last month!! I am hoping Thomas will start walking soon as I thought he was getting heavy to carry around but he only weighed 8.8kg last month, but I amsure he is heavier than that now.....or I am getting weak laugh.gif

Shelly- Your poor little one with her teeth, we are going through the same thing ATM, Thomas has just had two molars and his last bottom front tooth come through and I am sure the top molars are on there way too!!! Feels like I have been gving him panadol and that natural teething relief for ever now and was getting quite worried he would get addicted as opens his mouth for it once I go near the box ohmy.gif The GP though said it was all ok though laugh.gif

Well not much happening our end, though Tom is now cruising easily around the funiture and wanting to walk with the help of mummy holding his hands!! He has now also mastered stacking rings in orderback onto the stand and is very proud of himself clapping once it is done and checking that we are all watching and clapping him also once he has completed it!!!

Well hope everyone else is going well biggrin.gif

Ryan's exactly the same!! Will walk holding 1 of my hands now and almost takes off in a run on his walker but just hasn't taken those first few steps yet. He has started standing up from a sitting down position lately though without holding onto anything so we may be getting close...

Still 6 teeth this end. Ryan's favourite word is gog (dog) and we get lots of mumumum, dadadadad, bububub etc. Oh and I swear he tries to say curtain (sounds like ger-tin) as he points to his curtain all the time and makes a similar sound when I say it's a curtain.

He's pointing at everything, which is so cute. Eating wise, he's being a bit painful. Won't accept any food off the spoon if it has even the slightest lump in it rolleyes.gif but quite likes to feed himself finger food. Half the time though he eats the tiniest bit and then the rest gets thrown off the high chair dry.gif wub.gif I don't quite know how he gets by on the little he eats sometimes.
claire_p
Glad to hear Liam isnt the only one not walking yet Karla. He can stand without holding onto anything and balance himself so I think he is just being lazy. Has soon as you let go of his hand he drops to his knees rolleyes.gif

Well I think Liam is going to be a bit of a handful. Boys are so different to girls!!! Liam gets into everything and he is a climber. He loves to headbut things and gave Keira a blood nose yesterday ohmy.gif He doesnt like sitting in the pram much anymore which makes it hard if I want to go to the shops. Gets all whingy and if he isnt strapped in will stand up. So I try and time is so he falls asleep in the car and I transfer him to the pram while he is asleep. He just loves hair, he plays with his all the time and whenever someone pics him up and grabs a big bit at the back of your head. Am guessing this is a comfort thing maybe unsure.gif He is very vocal, not many words yet but I he loves the sound of his voice thats for sure!! He is a really good sleeper though and has 2 hours in the morning and 1-2 hours in the arvo and sleep through from 8pm-7am so I cant complain there. Still only the 2 teeth but I reckon the top ones are on the way.

Hope everyone else is going well.
karry327
You know it's interesting you say that Claire about boys being different cause of course I've only got the 2 boys to compare and in quite a few ways they're different.

Ryan too can get quite impatient in the pram - has to be moving fast all the time rolleyes.gif, where as Lachie was quite cruisy about it. Lachie used to pull my hair a lot when he was young and when past that stage, used to play with my hair absentmindedly which was so cute. Ryan doesn't do either. Ryan's a bit of a climber, Lachie wasn't. So I think it just comes down to the kid themselves happy.gif
claire_p
Thats interesting Karla. So it isnt just boys then!! I think living with the in-laws hasnt helped as they are always roughing him up dry.gif

Forgot to say yesterday that Liam is the same with his food. If there are any lumps he just spits it out. I still make him a batch of pureed vegies because he wont eat them mashed, which he eats around 5pm/5.30pm then when we sit down to dinner about 6.30pm he eats finger food of what we are eating. Most of it ends up on the floor but at least I know he is getting something from the vegies he gets earlier. This seems to be working for us.

I came home from work yesterday to find his nose running like a tap. So put the vapouriser on last night. I have now woken up with a bit of a runny nose and sore throat. Keira seems fine so far.

My In-laws have left today to go overseas for 3 weeks, they are going to London and spending some time in Ireland too. So looks like I will have to cook while they are gone. My BIL's can cook for themselves though!! My Mum is coming down next week from Tues-Fri to help look after the kids while I go to work.

Hi everyone

We are still here, just busy not surprisingly!!!

Claire I am with Karla, my two boys are soooo different. Adam is a climber and is only happy if he is playing with something he shouldn't be rolleyes.gif Whilst Hayden was a bit like that he was never a climber. Have a feeling we are going to have our hands full with Adam as he is already very cheeky!!!

As for food Adam now pretty much refuses any baby/pureed/mashed food totally. He has even been known to pick a whole apple up and wander around taking chunks out of it. G0d help you if you try to take it off him, even after it had been dropped numerous times and has allsorts of things attached to it!!

We also have a great 'talker' we only really have 2 proper words but he was having a great chat with himself this morning when he woke up.

Hope you all have a great Mothers day on Sunday. We are doing the Mothers Day classic walk which should be fun.

I can't tell you how happy I am that it's not only us doing this!! I feel kind of strange still giving a 13 month old puree but goddamit that's the only way he'll take it off a spoon rolleyes.gif

Sorry MIA... lots going on, and lots to report... Just not enough time damn it! Will post properly when things calm down... I had a wonderful mothers day, and I hope u all got spoilt to bits!
Avery
Hi ladies, sounds like all your little munchkins are going well – that’s great to hear.
How are the little ones going with the puree? I find E will only eat puree when she is teething – same for your little one?

We have just got back from a week away at Port Macquarie – which to be honest was total hell on earth. E was teething extremely badly, and a nightmare for the whole week – which is understandable. My poor girl now only has 1 space that I can see in her whole mouth. The rest is filled with teeth, or the little while points of teeth coming through.

I’ve also got myself into a bit of a state over the past few weeks about E not talking, and stupidly I went and goggled it and most everything points to autism, and if I dwelt on it long enough I could make anything she did into a symptom. I ended up talking to my mum (who has worked with autistic children) and while she is worried about the lack of talking she managed to calm me down about the autistic thing. I’ve defiantly realised that I was expecting way too much of my 14 month old. Like I read about lack of eye contact – freaked out to my mum saying “but if I ask her to bring me something she won’t look at me when she is walking over to hand it to me”. My mum just laughed and said “hunny, that is because she is concentrating on walking and holding the object!”. Funny how it just takes one other persons perspective to make you feel so much better! smile.gif

So I have calmed down over it. I did however get her booked into a speech therapist (appointment on the 20th) so we can get started on the delay. We saw a speechie in our town 2 weeks ago but was totally hopeless – didn’t try to interact with E, and just told me that because she was so sleep deprived during the first 9 months she would have missed all that early stuff as she was just concentrating so hard on functioning on so little sleep. Which I get, but she didn’t give us any exercises to do, just told me to treat her like a 4 month old (cooing and gaahing over her) and eventually the words will come. Also apparently because my pregnancy was rough, and her SUA diagnosis, she probably was listening to alot of negative emotions and words which would have made her scared. Umm, thanks for making me feel like even more of a failure sad.gif

I’ve also booked her in for a hearing test with Australian Hearing next month just to double check that there is no problems there.

Guess that’s about it. Guess I better get onto cleaning the house! Does it ever end?

Did you all have a wonderful mother’s day? biggrin.gif
claire_p
Great to hear from you Shelly. Sorry to hear you had a bad trip. Hope the speechie appointment goes well. Is she babbling at all?? Liam cant say many words yet apart from Dad & Mum. We get alot of Baaaaaaaaaaaaaa's from Liam.

We finally have another tooth. The top two are coming through at the moment and one of them has just broke through. The other one wont be too far behind, so by tomorrow he will probably have 4 teeth!!

Not walking yet, but he did take 4 steps yesterday biggrin.gif So it wont be long.

Funny after talking about puree food the other day, Liam has now gone off it. He kept pushing it away and making a fuss, he was due for another batch yesterday but I ended up not making any and just gave him what we were eating. If I just leave it with him it ends up on the floor so I still have to feed it to him to make sure he is actually getting some. It was just vegies and meat cut into small pieces.
