Hi all,

My sister is getting married in November and is looking for a reception venue to hold approx 200 people for a sit down meal. She is hoping for a winery in the Yarra Valley or Mornington Peninsular.

She is not from Melbourne, so is trawling the net trying to find places, but not having too much luck. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

Thanks so much

Morning Star Estate in Mount Eliza has stunning views and could accommodate a wedding that size (I've been to one there about that size).

I was not impressed with the decor or food, but that was AGES ago (6+ years?!) so perhaps seek more recent info about the place wink.gif

Found this link for you:

I've heard good things about De B0rt0li. Another great one (not winery though) off hand if you have the $ is Ch@teau Yer!ng

Oh and just looking at the 'latest links' on the side, the Embe11ish make0vers is where I got my makeup for my wedding done. Couldn't recommend them more highly. smile.gif

A couple I've visited (though I'm not sure about numbers) are Elmswood Estate, Rustic Charm at Wild Cattle Creek, Fergusson Winery, Ainsworth Estate, all in the Yarra Valley.

Thanks so much ladies. This is really helpful. Doesnt seem like many do over 150 people in this area... bugger, she is really struggling to find somewhere.

Liese, I know it's not a winery and not exactly the Yarra Valley, but my wedding was at L!nley E$tate (Kilsyth) which is just beautiful and I can't recommend it highly enough. There's also many other specialty reception places in that area too.
Could you not just have the wedding or photos at the winery and do the rest in a nearby reception place like L!nley?

Look up places like Ch@teau Wyun@, N@thaniel Spr!ngs, Br@mleigh, Lyreb!rd F@lls... all of these are relatively close - within 1/2 hour of wineries. Yes they're a little bit of a drive, but definitely 'do-able'.

Good Idea Indigo. I will ask my sister and see what she thinks. She went to the expo down there on the weekend and had a great time by the sounds of things... she has booked her photographer, cake, invites, found the dress... but the reception venue seems to be eluding her, lol. I really appreciate your help and suggestions. smile.gif
