Just thought I'd share my story...

A few weeks ago, DH decided to have a grope, as he often does. This time, my left breast hurt. i didn't think much of it until a week or so later when it happened again.

A friend of a friend is currently in palliative care due to cancer... she's 28.

So I decided to take it seriously and I went to my GP and she felt a lump. I was referred for a mammogram and ultrasound.

The mammogram showed nothing but the ultrasound showed a cluster of cysts in each breast with the largest being 1cm in the left breast. Very common and likely to come and go forever. I am having them aspirated and pathology carried out to be sure, but it looks like I'm one of the lucky ones.

I think it's important for all of us to get to know what's normal. So I urge all of you to check your breasts regularly in the shower and go to your GP straight away if you feel anything out of the ordinary.

Thanks so much for sharing and for the reminder. I can't remember the last time I checked mine out properly.

Great reminder Shelly smile.gif

My best friend found a lump in her breast at 27 and is still fighting it 3.5 years on. She's just had part of a lung removed and is going really well all things considered smile.gif I'm very proud of her.

At the school I am doing my rounds at someone, long before I was there, lost her battle with breast cancer. Now in every single ladies cubicle they have hung these self breast check posters. Ther are the the Gu@rd!@n Pharmacy and are very good.

In fact, now is and ideal time for me to do it.

Just an update. My biopsy came back all clear.

I now check my breasts regularly in the shower. I realised I had no idea what my normal breasts felt like so had no idea what a lump felt like.

So, off you go ladies... time to get up close and personal with your boobies!!!

I have checked mine, and they are heading south, rapidly! National Geographic will be at my door any minute smile.gif

On a more serious note, boobs (or mine) area bit lumpy anyway so what is the difference between normal lumpies and odd lumpies?

My thoughts are with anyone who has ever lost or been in contact with breast cancer.

I was 27 when I had my first bout of breast cancer as well, then again at 41 or 42 can't remember, but I am also one of the lucky ones. So yes, young woman you still should check your breasts, I found both my lumps!

I do carry the breast cancer gene fault. However most breast cancers are not because of any of the known gene faults.
