I have thick long hair and am thinking of buying some rollers rather than spending loads of $$$ at the haridresser everytime I got out!! I am really bad at doing my hair - are rollers easy to use? If so which ones should I buy and what are some cheapish places to get them from?

TIA

I have some. I have only used them once and it didn't go well. I am just not good with hair in general though. I am not even sure what brand they are.
I need to get a blow dry too before going out.

I have some Vidal Sassoon hot ones - they're okay, and weren't expensive, but the sad fact is I'm not much good at doing my hair either.

I've had more luck with bendy curlers - they're in packs of eight or so from the chemist and look like long blue cylinders. They're good on my hair as it doesn't hold curls very well, but might be a bit scary and Perm-for-a-day if your hair curls and holds curl easily.

I have some and find them quite easy to use. I think mine are just Remington brand. I find the best way to use them is heat them for longer than recommended, spray the strand of hair with hairspray, then roll up, and then give the whole head a coat of spray when you're done.

Leave them til they're cold, take them out and run your fingers through, and you're done. Pretty easy, and i like the result I get.

If your hair is long and thick, i'd say your curls will drop quite a bit, but that will give a glamorous look anyway with the curls all at the bottom of the hair. smile.gif

I also have long, thick hair & get the best results by curling with my GHD. There are instructional videos on the GHD website if you want to take a peek.

I have the Remington bendy sticks and a GHD.

I use all the sticks and then curl with my GHD the remainder. This gives it a more natural look as you can make the curls go in different directions and make them different sizes.

I would suggest starting with curling with a straighter it is SOOOOOO EASY! You will never look back once mastering this method of quick curls.

I did try with the straightener - but it turned into a massive failure - I can't even straighten it - there is just so much hair - even hairdressers comment on it. I ended up with burns when I tried to curl it - just too hard, hence why I thought of rollers.

Maybe I should just get it all cut off!!! sad.gif
