Thought I'd start this so we can continue talking about our precious bubs. Hope to see all the July mummies in here!

Thanks Janine! smile.gif I cant believe we're in this section already!!!!! Well, technically, Annabelle has another month before she turns one, but still! Looking forward to sharing the next 12 months with you all.

osmund
eeep! I too can't believe that our little ones are turning one and becoming toddlers! It is only a week until K's first birthday. blink.gif

I was just saying to a friend that this first year has gone really painfully slowly at times and other times flown by in a blur of fun. I am enjoying hanging out with K more and more...

Here is to the next 12 months of fun and challenges! biggrin.gif
osmund
I have decided to update here since it is actually July now so I guess theoretically we should be over in the 'grown up' section.

Firstly, I just can't believe that our babies are turning one - where has the year gone? I just read through my online journal entries for my pregnancy and birth and those early months. It was really cool reliving those monents. Some things I totally forgotten about, but other things I totally exaggerate in my mind! haha

Monday, I had K's 12 month check up with the MCHN and it was good and bad. He is really develop in his language skills, lots and lots of chatting and a good number of words already. She was quite impressed with his communication. However, we have a referral to a physio as he is not pulling himself up to stand. So hopefully when we get to see a physio, he/she can show us some exercises to strengthen his legs and encourage him to pull up.

Also, he is still not growing enough! He has now dropped below the 3rd percentile. He is only 8.2kg (gained 140g in two months) and 74cm long. I actually think he is like his dad who is lean and not very tall (65kg and 175cm). Anyway, we are seeing the doctor tomorrow about something else so I will mention K's weight again.

My good news is that I finally weigh less than DH again - what a lovely feeling! I am also trying to get serious about the gym so got a weights program written up to compliment my cardio (spinning classes and mountain bike riding). So now my body aches from sore muscles!! ouch.

Ok enough on me! Hayli - I think it is a great idea to do your Xmas shopping now. There are so many bargains atm. Smart thinking since you will have a little baby and a toddler around Xmas time and you don't want to be trooping around the shops with them both.
And I agree about Annabelle's overnight feeding, I think you might just have go the hard path. I found that now I have stopped K's overnight feeds, he eats so much more during the day and has good day breastfeeds too.

Janine - good news that the physio exercises have helped Nathan. How often do you take Nathan to see the physio?
And I am sorry to hear that Nathan's sleeping is bad atm. I would have thought 2 months of NCSS would have helped somewhat. sad.gif

How are you feeling, Kirstin? Good, I hope! smile.gif How is Alyssa's sleeping going?

And, Caren, how are you going? Has the sleep chaos got better? Or are you just surviving? Did you get into Tressilian (sp?) earlier?

I have question for those who breastfed: are you still breastfeeding?
I am still. K has 3 feeds a day (morning, arvo and evening) and I don't see him dropping any of them anytime soon. And I am quite happy to keep going for the moment. I am enjoying the bonding/quiet time we have together. However, now that K is turning one I am getting a lot of people asking me if I have weaned yet as I am strange to keep feeding past 12 months.
MrsJanine
I'm glad we can now use this thread!

Nathan is sick today sad.gif We were up 4 times with him vomiting from 2am. I rang Health Direct this morning to see if I should see a Dr, he said if he is still vomiting from 12 hours after he started, then make an appointment. And to not give him much solids, just more (smaller) breastfeeds. Poor little monkey, he looks miserable. He is not used to spewing.

He also said it could be to do with teething, and yes Nathan's 4th tooth is very close.

Helen - I'm sure the physio will be able to help with Kai. Nathan still isn't pulling himself up, something we will have to work on. We were going every 2 weeks, but now its every 3 weeks. And welll done on your weight loss!

I'm still breastfeeding 3 times a day, although we have started weaning. I've replaced his mid-morning feed with cows milk. I will replace his after lunch BF with cows milk soon. I feel its time for us to stop, especially now that there will be abother baby here in 6 months! But if you feel comfortable and are happy to continue, then don't let anyone stop you. Its your choice, not anyone elses!
MrsJanine
Nathan is all better now, although still not eating as much as he was before. Not sure what casued his vomiting as he had no diarrhea and Mat and I didn't get sick. Actaully he didn't have a dirty nappy for 3 days ohmy.gif , he is usaully a 3/4 a day kid!

Anyhoo, Nathan fell off his little push along bike today and has a graze on his face. I feel like such a bad mum, I only took my eyes off him for a second and then it was too late to catch him and he face-planted the driveway.

Nathan's sleep is still terrible, although he is now having 3-6 hours when I first put him in bed and then wakes every hour or 2. I should really go to bed myself when he does, just to get a few extra hours! I believe he is waking due to habit, so I'm going to have to come up with a way of breaking his habit.
hanes
Happy 1st Birthday Kai!!!!!! Helen, I hope you, hubby and Kai had a lovely day. wub.gif

Janine, Im glad Nathan is feeling better. Annabelle doesnt "create" many dirty nappies when she's sick either. I find she doesn't eat, but I just increase the amount of formula, so at least I know she's getting something.

Poor Nathan! sad.gif Now that our little ones are toddling there are so many more accidents, arent there? Annabelle has that many bruises on her head Im sure people think we are abusive parents! But seriously, she just falls so much more often. I suppose its part of the whole learning to walk thing.

Its hard going to bed at the same time they do though, isnt it? What time does Nathan go down at night? I find I cant get to bed any earlier than 9.30pm. You also need some couple quality time too.

Im still giving Annabelle a bottle or two at night ph34r.gif I figure, while Im working full-time I need the sleep. And she goes pretty much, straight back to sleep after a bottle. So, I'll deal with that issue when Im back to two days a week and can function on less sleep. I think its become a habit for Annabelle too rolleyes.gif. But she's become quite a fussy eater lately as well, and so Im reluctant to drop the formula when she's barely eating and definately not eating what she should be. I think she could live on yoghurt, bananas and cheese if I let her. Otherwise she throws it off her highchair dry.gif ! Im not getting many veggies into her. Im hoping its a phase.

We went to Mum's tonight and my lovely mum ordered a whole heap of polka-dot stuff for Annabelle's party. It's coming from America, so I hope it makes it in time! Im getting so excited! 5 weeks to go! And since her party will be a week after her birthday, we're thinking of taking her somewhere for her actual birthday, since its on the Sunday. Maybe the zoo or something like that.

Kirstin - How are you feeling??? Has MS hit you yet?

Janine - How are you feeling? Are you going to find out this time? Or will it be another surprise?

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend! smile.gif
osmund
Well, we are all feeling a little tired today - damn Monday mornings. We had a busy weekend; going away for a mountain bike race (I didn't race this time tho).

Thanks for the lovely wishes Hayli, K's birthday is actually tomorrow. Nothing special planned as yet, just presents in the morning while snuggling in bed and then dinner with grandparents (as they always come for Tuesday dinner). blush.gif

Hayli, Annabelle's birthday planning sounds great! We are so disorganised. K's party is this Sunday and I haven't got anything planned. I guess we will have to buy a few things from the supermarket. I am making most of the stuff - we tested out some sausage roll recipes last week and they were a big hit. smile.gif

I hope everything is going well - Kirstin did worming work??

Hi Everyone!

Sorry I have been so slack. I'm still feeling tired and fragile from lack of sleep. Lucy is just getting worse and worse. I've pretty much given up now and spend the whole night on the lounge with her. We're finally getting into see Tresillian this week (just a day stay) so hopefully things will start to improve.

Besides not sleeping Lucy is really growing up, she took 2 steps the other day but nothing since. She can point to her nose, wave, clap, shake her hands on command now. She's also climbing on absolutely everything! I have to really watch her.

Despite her sleep, she's a delighful little girl during the day. Happy, inquisitive and loves getting out in the world.

Helen, I hope Kai had a lovely birthday and his party is just as fun.

I can't believe how fast this year has gone! It's amazing!

Hope everyone is well.

MrsJanine
Helen, sorry I missed wishing Kai a happy birthday earlier this week. I hope he (and you!) had a nice day!

Janine - How are you feeling? Are you going to find out this time? Or will it be another surprise?

I am feeling OK, still a bit of all day nausea happening, but not as bad as I remember it with Nathan. We will probably not find out what we are having again this time, but I am still a little undecided! I still have heaps of time to think about it! How are you doing? Getting so close now!

QUOTE(MrsD @ Jul 8 2009, 05:46 AM) *

We're finally getting into see Tresillian this week (just a day stay) so hopefully things will start to improve.

I really hope you have luck changing her sleep. You need the break, let us know how it went.

So, I've had an eventful week. Firstly, I was in the beginning stages of weaning Nathan - we had cut out 1 BF. I thought all was going OK, but from Monday night he has been refusing the breast. He has gone cold turkey on me, absolutly screaming if I even come near him with uncovered boobies!

I thought I'd get about another 4-6 weeks, but he has decided he dosn't want it anymore. Physically I'm Ok, I have been expressing for comfort, but I still have so much milk that I leaked in bed last night! I haven't done that since Nathan was a newborn! But emotionally I'm a bit of a mess. The hormones are crazy! I'm struggling with the night time routine also becasue we don't get our cuddles, he wont sit still to drink his sippy cup. I'm going to have to change things around to get a better routine happening.

I spoke to a nice lady from the Aust Breastfeeding Association on Tuesday, she sid it is most likely to do with being pregnant, but could also be teething, or a bunch of other things. But she said to keep offering it before the sippy cup, never know he may want it?

Anyhoo, I had falmost forgotten I'd booked myself into a 'Sleepworks' workshop today run by the Community Helath Nurse. I was totally amazed at how many other families are going thru the same sleep issues we have. While they didn't tell me anything I hadn't already read or tried, it was really nice talking to other families with the same problems. We are going to try letting him cry a bit more in his cot. Now that he is older maybe it might work? Anyway, we have to do something, I can't keep going on little sleep. So it was a positive day, and I feel I may be able to cope a little better with the crying now.

I hope everyone is well!

Oh wow, that must be terribly emotional for you. I think that I would be really upset too if K just stopped breastfeeding. I am enjoying it so much now and I don't even want to think about weaning just yet.

Not much news from K and me, he had his vaccinations on Wednesday and they all went well. I didn't need to give him any pain relief as he was just a little tired after them, not sick or in pain. I was a bit worried about the MMR as it is a live one, but so far so good.

Today I am starting to bake for K's party on Sunday. I am going to bake the cookies today that will last until Sunday so there isn't so much to do tomorrow and Sunday morning.

Is anyone else's mother's group starting to disintegrate? It seems harder and harder to meet up with peeps as work, illness and every day life seems to interfere....it is sad, I really enjoy mother's group.

Is anyone else's mother's group starting to disintegrate?

My mothers group is still meeting weekly. There are only 5 of us and we are all pretty close! Only 1 mummy dosn't come to many anymore, she has started working and her son dosn't sleep well so we don't see her as often. I really look forward to our weekly get-togethers.

I hope Kai's birthday party go's well on Sunday. Are you haveing a big party, or just a small gathering?

I let Nathan cry last night in his cot, and found him standing up at one stage!!!! Thats the first time he has done that! Usually he just lies and cry's, sometimes he rolls over but not often! So finally he is working out how to pull himself up to sitting, and then to standing - I was so proud at 1am! wub.gif

Hi girls,

Ive been hit pretty hard with the flu these last few days, so Ive been spending lots of time in bed sad.gif I really hope Annabelle doesnt get it. Thank goodness this is hubby's weekend off! He's been able to look after her so I can sleep.

Helen, Im glad Kai's shots went well and he had no nasty side effects. How did his party go?

My mothers groups is still going really strong! This might be because we all met later at a 0-4 months clinic and established our own group from there. And we have babies born from June this year through to November, so a big age gap. And most of the mummies are still at home, except for the three of us teacher-mummies, we're all back at work part-time.

Caren - How did the visit to Tresillian go?

Kirstin - How are you feeling? How is Alyssa going?

Well, I think Im going to head back to bed. The house looks like a bombs hit it and I just dont have the energy to clean so Im not going to look at it wink.gif .
osmund
Hayli - how are you feeling? Better? I hope so. Having the flu is terrible. sad.gif Did Annabelle manage to miss it?

Janine - how is Nathan's sleep going? Any solutions yet?

K's party was lots of fun. I did a lot of baking for it (as I wanted it to be healthy as possible) and all the guests loved it. I made mini quiches, sandwiches, (healthy) sausage rolls, scones, a slice and the birthday cake (of course). D and I were in the kitchen all Saturday afternoon and all Sunday morning, but it was worth seeing everyone enjoying themselves (and the food).

I ended up making a cat cake for K. I don't have any photos online yet, but will post one here when I do. I think it worked out well in the end and it was yummy which is more to the point. biggrin.gif

Today we went to the phsyio for K and it was really positive so I am happy. She thinks that K will eventually crawl and pull himself up to stand. I just need to get him used to bearing weight on his knees so I have a few exercises to do with him. We did them in the session and by the end I could see an improvement already. Go K. tongue.gif

Helen, I'm so glad Kai's party was a hit! The food sounds delicious! Can't wait to see some pix.
And it sounds like it went well with the physio too.

Hayli - I hope you're feeling better soon. Definitely leave the house work, it won't be going anywhere.

Janine - Goodness, you don't want little milestones to happen at 1am! When will these bubs of ours learn to sleep???

Tresillian was OK. No miracle cures. I really wanted them just to admit me to residential, but they think I didn't need it. wacko.gif
So, I'm going to have to tackle it myself. The plan is to for the girls to swap rooms, then a bit of tough love. I'm going to wait until the last week in July, when my DH is away. So at the moment I'm spending most nights cuddled on the lounge with Lucy.

No other news for me. Except Lucy took a couple of steps the other day. She didn't realise that she wasn't holding on to something!

Hope everyone is well smile.gif

dry.gif What do you actually have to do to get into this residential stay????

Hope the room swapping goes well. Does Lucy sleep better with you? Could this be an occasional option for you when you really just need those few extra hours sleep? I have a friend with a three-year-old who still doesnt sleep through (but he is prone to a lot of ear infections and is hospitalised frequently not helping the sleep settling issue) and she also has a four-year-old and a six-year-old and she copes on certain nights by having the three-year-old sleep with her, just to get a few extra hours shut-eye.

Congratulations on Lucy walking. That is exciting!

Helen - Im glad Kai's party went well. Cant wait to see some pics!

Janine - Yay for Nathan standing in his cot! And congratulaitons on reaching your 12-week-mark! Will you be finding out the sex of this little one? (Have I already asked you this? If so, please ignore me... as you can tell pregnancy brain has come and decided to move in biggrin.gif )

Im still feeling quite unwell. I thought I was feeling better yesterday and attempted a trip to the local shops with hubby. But, after an hour-and-a-half I came home feeling dreadful and was back in bed with a fever.

It's my mum's birthday today and we were having a dinner for her tomorrow, but it looks like I'll have to give it a miss sad.gif as she lives almost an hour away and hubby's on night shift from tomorrow. I just dont think I could manage the drive on my own, not to mention handling Annabelle in their not-so-child-friendly home full of tiled stairs.

Annabelle is breaking in four teeth at the moment! I thought there might be another on the way, but not four! No wonder she's been fussing at her food poor thing, her mouth must be so sore! There's two more coming at the top and two more on the bottom. I suppose it'll be nice to get most of her teething done all at once wacko.gif .

I'm thinking probably no, but I keep changing my mind! And I too have prenancy brain, and along with the sleep deprivation, things aren't looking so good!

Wow 4! Hope they break thru quickly!

Nathan's sleep has been the same, no change even with the 'controlled comforting'. It just stresses us both out with his crying. I bought some homeopathic stuff called 'Calm' today. It is supposed to promote a calm state, and help with sleeping and insomnia for bubs. Gave Nathan some tonight before bed, took him nearly an hour to fall asleep. I really wanted to avoid having to rely on medicine for him to sleep, but I need sleep! Will let you all know tomorrow how tonight go's.

Hey everyone, Sorry I have been MIA.

Alot of things have been happening lately fot us as a family.

As I was saying ages ago DH and I are starting a business. Well Its official!!! We signed a lease and have started fitout. We open 25th!!!! SO very busy with that.

Also Riley got really sick, Followed by me. I spent one night up hospital to have Him monitored (they couldn't get a drip in, they tried twice) because he had refused to eat and drink all day ( he had a sore throat) well when I got it I completely understand why he didn't. I was in agony and still getting upto him all through the night. I was taking panadol and neurofen but it was only taking a slight tip off the pain that i got some codine too.

FOllowed on from RIley been sick. He started waking all through the night again. And screaming for hours in a row during the night each night. (2hrs at 4am every night) plus all the other wakes. SO after having him off his meds (reflux) for 3 weeks we have put him back on them....oh when will it end??? Caren??

Hes only having 1 day sleep now (with a huge fight) and refuses to go down for the night untill 10-11pm then back up at 7 sometimes if I'm lucky he will "sleep" till 8.

He is also cutting his 4 molars at the moment.

I really need some time out from him!!!! Hes always so needy and whingy, its driving me mental. He rarely entertains himself. Which I really need him to start to do when we open this business.

to top it all off his party is meant to be this weekend but I have organised nothing. I didn't even send half the invites out.

Hi girls,
I have been reading but nothing to report or time to.

I see most of us still having sleep issues. Although Ryder does sleep about 12hrs, he does wake a few times. If its after 4am, i give him a 100ml bottle which puts him straight back to sleep. But some nights he doesnt and ends up in our bed cos its too cold to stand up rubbing his back, but he is wide awake!! Talking and crawling away. Hes also down to one sleep in day too. How many mls of milk does ur bubs have during 24hrs? Ryder only has 400-500ml. Hope thats enough, but he does have a yoghurt and milk in breaky everyday. He is still has a few spews most days, which is getting annoying because everything just stinks of it. Cooper grew out of it when he went on solids so hope it doesnt go for too much longer.
Notice that kirstin is due on my birthday. Lucky girl hahaha. I was due with Cooper on 5th march. What a big difference it was having a baby in the hotter months. But working in a bakery in one of hottest summers we have had here didnt help.
We have Ryders baptisim and birthday party on sunday. Hope weather is nice because i dont have anything warm to wear thats nice and having the party at a park. Lucky we arnt there for too long cos hubby has footy in the afternoon.
What did everyone buy for their kiddies for their birthday? Oh didnt anyone manage to fight through the crowds at the toy sales? I did, but couldnt find anything suitable for Ryder for xmas except a play bbq. But did get a swing set for both of the boys.
Sorry about the long post and no personals. I will try more to get on here and reply

Argh!!! I can't believe that you still don't qualify the residential program. I know people down here in Melbourne with less sleep issues than you have and they did a 5 night residential stay. Hmmm. It just seems a little odd. Hopefully, the end of July doesn't seem to far off for you (and Lucy on the couch).

It doesn't sound like Riley is getting much sleep which is really hard on you. sad.gif Is it reflux related as to why he is sleeping so little? Maybe part of his whingy-ness/inability to entertain himself is because he is tired during the day? I know K is much better at playing by himself if he has enough sleep otherwise I have to carry him around with me! Also, Is it possible just to get some time out with your DH looking after him? Good to see you back in here Zoe!

No we didn't go to the sales, but I will go to the T@rget sale that starts this week. We didn't get Nathan anything terribly exciting for his birthday - some shoes, a jacket, a bag (to use instead of a nappy bag), we were supposed to buy something as a keepsake but couldn't find anything, we are still looking!

The first 2 nights it made no difference, but last night he slept 4 and then 3.5 hours and then stirred on and off for an hour (between 3.30 and 4.30am) and ended up in my bed where he slept until 7am. Yay! Gotta keep working on it, but I think the 'Calm' is working.

Not much else happening here this weekend.

Hi girls,

Jazy - congratulations on your new business! How very exciting! What will you do with Riley while you're working with the business?

Is Riley feeling better now? Hope his sleep is getting a little better. Is he still on his meds? How are you finding the reflux now he's more upright more often? Hope its settling.

Janine - Glad to hear that 'calm' is working for you. Let's hope there's plenty of full-nights sleep for you and Nathan to come, especially once the new bub comes along!

Helen - Im feeling much better, thanks smile.gif . And fortunately, Annabelle doesnt seem to have picked it up. Im hoping it stays that way.

Annabelle has almost 8 teeth, including the four that are breaking in at the moment. She looks all teeth too! It's quite funny.

Zoe - Hope you had a lovely day for Ryder's baptism/ birthday. Was it lovely weather?

We are still buying Annabelle a kitchen for her birthday, but we havent bought it yet. We have so many bills at the moment, and no where to store it. We've found the one we want at Big W - perfect size for her, but it wasnt on special during the toy sales so we can grab it anytime really.

Hubby and I had big plans to attend all the toy sales, but we're lazy too and just didnt get around to them all. The only thing we did buy were the two-pack of little people transports - a yellow bus and plane. One will be for Annabelle for Xmas and the other for the new baby. But we didnt just want to grab stuff off the shelves for the sake of it. I may have a look at Target.

Annabelle's decided that she needs to learn how to use a spoon rolleyes.gif . So feeding has become a very messy process! Especially when she's eating yoghurt or weetbix. If I try to take the spoon off her (usually to clean up the big glob of yogurt hanging precariously on her chin) she grabs it back with such force that she flings the food around the kitchen (and on her and myself in the process!) It's amazing at where she manages to get the food. Yesterday I found bits of yoghurt in the cutlery draw huh.gif.

Dont feel bad about your invites Helen and Zoe. Annabelle's party is in three weeks and I'm still sending last minute emails to my sister about the invites rolleyes.gif (she-s making them - but Im the one that's been slack) I'm leaving off an RSVP date, since most people are family or close friends and it's too soon for one.

My MIL isnt coming to the party, she says she has a work dinner on mad.gif (although the party was scheduled for one so she would have time to come) and she's taking my SIL, who's coming down from NT, to the function with her so she cant come either! Hubby's pretty annoyed. I am too. Surely she can do her hair herself that day and come and spend it with her only grandchild? dry.gif

Hope you've all had a lovely weekend! smile.gif

Nathan likes to try and feed himself with the spoon too! I give him a spoon and I use one and as soon as he opens his mouth I shove a spoonful in! Usually tho, he just likes to have the spoon in the bowl and mix it around. But it gets every where!

And Grrrrrr about your MIL. Is she still having her own party for Annabelle?

Hi Girls,

Just a quick one from me as Lucy is colouring in with Lily (she has to do EVERYTHING Lily does these days!)
Sleep is still terrible! The lady at Tresillian reckoned that as Lucy has a 'perfect' routine and I know how to settle her that they couldn't really teach me anything else. I'm going back next week and I'm going to demand that we get in, as things are going from bad to worse. I had three hours in my own bed last night, the rest was on the couch.

It's Lucy's birthday tomorrow and I can't believe she's one. This year has flown by. Lily's first year seemed to take forever, but with Lucy it was super fast.
We haven't bought her much. Just a baby doll as she loves Lily's so much. She saw one in the shop the other day and latched on to it and then screamed blue murder when I had to take it away. So I know she'll love it!
We're having a small family celebration on Sat and I'm making a fairy castle cake.
Lucy started walking all by herself and then stopped! On Friday she was walking everywhere and now she's gone back to crawling - very strange!

I better go. I hope everyone is well.

Hi,
Well we had perfect weather on sunday! So hot that everyone was looking for the shade. He didnt get too spoilt which was good. We just bought him a little bike, silver frame, and a toy lawn mower. Oh and we got a new puppy so we can breed it with our other dog, so since Ryder loves animals we are saying she is his. Its so cute watching him chase her around everywhere, he even snuggles up in her bed with her.
I went to toy sales, but couldnt find anything that i could get Ryder except a bbq and dvd.
Well hubby had this wk off so i made sure i booked ryder for his needles. He never took Cooper to any of his so thought he could see how sad it all was. Well how wrong i was. 3 needles- only whinged once. Not even a tear. Looks like daddy can take them to all their needles now.

Caren - hope to see some pics of the cake ur making. Sounds wonderful! Its so cute isnt it that they look up to their sibling.Ryder has learnt now to tackle so if Cooper has his back turned, he is on the mission to get him. Hehe

No, we finally decided no. Hubby told her, so I think she still may be a bit cranky about that.

Hi girls,

Its very quiet in here! Im assuming we're all very busy with active toddlers now or catching up on some much needed sleep! smile.gif

We've finally sent all the invites for Annabelle's party and most people are coming. We've invited about 30-ish people to our house. Hopefully its a nice day and we can go to the park for a bit. Annabelle just loves the swing and has now gotten over her slide-phobia and happily slides down. We've got a park right across the road from our house and I've been trying to take her most afternoons for a while, just to get out of the house and have an outing. It'll be much better when we get the smart trike and she can peddle around the park too! My parents are getting her that for her birthday.

Has anyone else's baby developed a dislike for socks??? Annabelle is constantly pulling hers off rolleyes.gif ! We have timber floorboards and her poor little feet are like ice cubes. I try and put stockings on her but we only have so many pairs! She is also beginning to dislike spending time in the pram. After about half-an-hour she starts whinging to get out. It makes shopping trips a bit hard. I'm actually looking forward to her beginning to walk.

Hope all the babies and Mummies are well! smile.gif

Jazy84
just quickly....
Ri often pulls his socks off when he wants my attention ......
when he was littlier he use to do it all the time, so I started putting shoes on him.

As for the pram....well...what can I say. Riley has hated that for quite awile. I know just carry him everywhere. He sometimes walks. but when I want him to walk one way and he doesnt want to he'll just sit down..... Trolleys are very handy. means hes really close to me with out being carried. I also put him into the big part of the trolley to stand up. Otherwise friends and family are great to take shopping, spreads the load of carrying him.

MrsD - I hope you can get some answer/help soon. best wishes.

Janine - We are opening a Video Game Rental Store. Quite exciting. Ri has his own play room in the store we got. So hes happy. Birthday came at the right time too because now he has enough toys to share over home and work.
MrsJanine
Sorry I've missed some birthdays in here! Happy Birthday to Lucy, Ryder, Annabelle and Riley!

Nathan is OK with socks. He pulls them off sometimes, but usually he just leaves them alone. He still dosn't like shoes tho. Nathan's not too bad in the pram. If we are walking/moving he sits happily, but if we are in line at the checkouts or if I stop to look at something he whinges a little bit. If Matt is with me he gets him out and holds onto him, but I usually give him his dummy! I know, bad habit.

Oh, cool!

Nathan has yet another cold. Poor little monkey. We had a rewally bad night on Sunday night, I enend up sleeping on the couch with him for a couple of hours. Today he seems a little better and is not being quite so whingy and needy. He still has quite a bad cough which I will keep an eye on.

On his sleeping in general, not much has improved. I really don't know what else I should try now. I am so tired but each night I get my sleep interrupted 5 or 6 or 7 times.

Hey all - I can't believe that I haven't been in here for so long! Sorry. I actually thought that I had written a reply a few days ago, but obviously not. I think that I might be going mad.

Life is going ok, K and I just seem to be really busy doing stuff which is great for him and me. We are still working on pulling up to a stand by himself (which he sometimes managing now (progress!) and trying to get him crawl. He has crawled while in bed together (because it is impossible to bum shuffle over doonas), but he won't do it on the floor!

As I mentioned after K's 12 months check up, he is still not gaining enough weight and dropping precentiles. So we went back to the peadiatrician and had some blood tests to rule out anything really obvious. Hopefully I will get those test results in the next few days. I really just think that he is a small boy, but their argument is that he should be on a curve by now (rather than slipping).

As for socks, K doesn't seem to take them off too much. He likes to try to put them back on too - very cute. Yesterday he tried to put his foot in my shoe so I got out a pair of soft-soled shoes (that his granny got him) for him. He was quite pleased to be wearing shoes too!

And K is fine in the pram too although I don't go to shopping centres so maybe that would be different. Sometimes he doesn't want to get in and complains, but once we are walking outside, he enjoys looking at everything.

Janine - I hope Nathan is feeling better now and the sleeping isn't so bad. 5-7 wake ups a night is impossible. sad.gif

And Caren how is Lucy's sleeping going? Any help yet?

Zoe, Ryder with a puppy sounds so cute! A better situation than us with a 13yo dog who gets a bit fed up with K.

And, Hayli how is the party preparation going? I think we had 30-ish people plus kids at the party and it was a good amount. I wouldn't want anymore really. Although I found that I didn't have much time to chat as I was cooking the sausage rolls and re-heating the other food I had made.

Also, how are those ones pregnant coping with the pregnancy and a 1yo? Are they keeping you on your toes? Getting naps in during the day? smile.gif
osmund
So how did everyone's weekend go?

We had a good weekend with lots of riding about with K in the sunshine, hanging with friends and family and generally just taking it easy. It was lovely. And today is a glorious day, I feel like I need to get outside. So just waiting for K to wake up from his morning nap. smile.gif

Hayli - was Annabelle's party this weekend? If so, how did it go?

Kirstin - are you out there still??

Hello ladies..

*BIG GRIN*

It has almost been 12mths since I was last on here.. It said Sept 08 when I signed in today. Either way that's HORRIBLE of me to neglect my favourite July mommies like this.

Matilda is now a bouncing rampaging toddler.. She was walking at about 10-11mths.. Currently trying to push thru her ninth tooth.. Which is apparently much more painful then the others. I suspect it is because the molars are larger.. a lil more surface area..

Anywho, I have thought about you guys often over the last few months and wondered how everyone is going with their lil people..

I recently found out that I am expecting another bubba.. Still processing things at the moment. Trying to be positive about having a 2yr old and a newborn..

hopefully i am back here for a while.. so cant wait to catch up with everyone..

Hi girls,

Helen - Im glad you, hubby and Kai had a lovely weekend enjoying the sunshine. It was lovely weather in Sydney too. Almost spring!

Hi Jane!!! Its lovely to hear from you smile.gif . Poor Matilda, it's tough breaking through new teeth. And Congratulations on expecting number two!

Yesterday was Annabelle's birthday. Her party is next Saturday, but yesterday we took her to a local City Farm with lots of animals and attractions for little people. Annabelle had a pony ride, a tractor ride and even fed the lambs wub.gif . So cute! We took the pram with us, but she wanted to walk most of the day (holding on to someone's hand) and she's actually worn a hole through her new pair of shoes with all the walking she did ohmy.gif wub.gif (pre-walkers). Afterward, my parents and PIL came over for dinner. She had a lovely day. Very spoilt too, she LOVES the kitchen we bought for her and the Smart trike that my parents bought. Cant wait to use that! We may head to Centennial park next weekend after the party (if I still have any energy left tongue.gif ) and take her for a ride.

How is everyone else? How are these cheeky toddlers going?
Jazy84
Hi,

We had a good weekend also. We opened our store for the first time over the weekend. Very exciting.

Hayli I'm glad Annabelle had a good birthday. Hopefully her party is great and the weather nice so you can take her for that ride.

Jane, Ri is cutting tooth 10 now and I have to agree 9/10 have been terrible. Hes so whingy/sooky. I can't wait for the little bugger to cut.

Helen, Did you get outside to enjoy the day? what did you do?

We have already organised a bunch of us to go out to dinner so I'm really looking forward to having a night off as my mum and dad will babysit Nathan.

2kgs, nice loss. Although maybe not since it is probably due to nausea. sad.gif Good to hear that you are travelling well. I often wonder if 2nd pregnancies are generally easier because one knows what to expect and also one doesn't have as much time to focus on oneself. The first child still demanding all that attention. smile.gif What do the pregnant girls think of my little theory??

Oh no about getting sick. sad.gif I hope that it doesn't progress any further. And also enjoy your night out with your friends and meeting the new baby. smile.gif

So are any other babies/kids starting to hit and pinch?? Or am I the only one with a violent child? This morning in bed, K descended from a great height (him kneeling and me lying down) to kiss or bite (not sure which) my nose. Anyway, it hurt heaps and my nose was swollen this morning! But I don't think that was deliberate, I think it was just an accident. Then to top it off he got my nose in a pincer grip and twisted, now that was deliberate and it hurt. sad.gif He also has started slapping when frustrated, I just ignore it and turn away, but not sure if I should be doing anything else. Anyone else having this experience??
Jazy84
So are any other babies/kids starting to hit and pinch??
I have noticed Riley is lashing out alot now days. Hes getting quite frustrated with everything. If you are holding him and dont understand what he wants or not doing what he wants he just starts swinging at your head. Or alternatively he head butts things. he'll head butt you if your holding him or if hes down anything and everything. But if its soft (like fold out couch) he will move to where its hard. so frustrating and I'm sure it hurts him alot and I try to ignore it but its hard to all the time.

Oh yeah, K does this too! I had forgotten about it. He does it when he is having a mini temper tantrum. Often he will be frustrated and upset so will bum shuffle over to a chair or cupboard and gently bump his head into the object then start howling more. We are trying to ignore this behaviour too.

I didn't realise K would start doing this sort of thing already. So I have decided to buy Robin Barker's toddler book. I really liked Baby Love so I am hoping this one will be insightful too. Any other book recommendations??

I think you are on to something there! I have hardly any time to think about this new baby and they way I am feeling.

Not hitting and punching, but Nathan will poke me in the face - I think this might be because we look at his teddy and I say 'where's teddy's eyes/nose/ears' etc and he points to them, so I think he's just pointing at mine. He sometimes pushes my hand away if I'm offering him something he dosn't want (like his water cup). Also, he digs his nails in to my hand when we hold hands sometimes. He has hit me nwhen waving his arms around, but I don't think its on purpose.
I think Nathan is a gentle little boy, I hope it dosn't change any time soon!!!!!

I'm reading 'Dream baby Guide' by Sheyne Rowley (the Australian Baby Whisperer). I'll tell you if I recommend it it about a month after I've read it all - its like 700 pages wacko.gif

I think she liked feeding the lambs. I kind-of just put the food in her hand and the lamb grabbed it just as quickly. At first she was a little unsure but quickly began smiling. As for the kitchen, a friend of ours has a similar one and Annabelle just loves opening all the doors and shoving things inside, so I knew she'd enjoy a kitchen.

So are any other babies/kids starting to hit and pinch?? Yes, Ive noticed she's started hitting. Not too often, although Im sure that will increase as her frustration levels increase too. She does occasionally bite too. On the face. I dont think she means too. But she starts by giving you a kiss, that quickly becomes a little painful when her teeth come into contact with skin. About a month ago, after she bit me, I bit her back ph34r.gif ! Not hard, it didnt leave a mark or anything but it was hard enough to make her stop and look at me with surprise then sit down and cry. Now, she doesnt do it as often - but we dont get any more kisses either rolleyes.gif .

Santa is bringing me a baby for CHRISTMAS this year.. OMG!!

Wow!!! What a surprise! I bet you weren't expecting that kinda news. blink.gif Anyway, congratulations on your Christmas baby. Did you have your 20 week scan? Or will you get another one?

I have often heard of a friend of a friend who was further along (insert 5,6,7 months) and didn't realise it. I just didn't expect it to be one of us. blink.gif You must be feeling quite shocked right now, Jane. Well, I would anyway.

K does love playing in the park, Hayli. We have so many around us so I often pop into them when we are out and about. Although since he isn't walking (nor crawling, being a bum shuffler), he doesn't get the whole experience of playing on the play equipment yet, but I am sure it will come in time! biggrin.gif And yep, he has tried grass, fresh and dried leaves, and bird poo (!!! ph34r.gif ) so far while in the park. The bird poo was quite gross and I got it out as soon as I realised, but he was already spitting it out in disgust!! laugh.gif

It will be good to hear what you think about that book, Janine. I hope it doesn't take too long to read!! Actually, I am right back into reading now and loving it. I think that I am getting through 3-ish books a week. My brain feels like it might be slowly cranking into gear again... blush.gif

ohmy.gif wub.gif OMG, Wow! What a surprise for you! But what a lovely Christmas present wub.gif ! And is that ticker suggesting you're having a little boy? And I thought my pregnancy was going fast.... yours is going to feel like its just flying by biggrin.gif.

Helen, Annabelle eats everything in the park too! laugh.gif And Ive been thinking about buying the next Robin Barker book, I also loved Baby Love. Ive been scouring ebay waiting for a cheapy to pop up. I'd be interested though, in any other books that might be just as useful.

Jazy, cute sig. of Riley. wub.gif Isnt he growing. How is the shop going?

So are any other babies/kids starting to hit and pinch??
Not hitting and punching

Ummmmm... I take that back. The little monkey has started scratching me, especially when he is tired or grumpy. He scratched me on my face on Friday night and it really hurt.

Wow, you read alot! I'm a pretty slow reader, its going to take ages for me to read this book. At the moment I quite like it, although as with most parenting books there is quite a lot of waffle ohmy.gif Also, I am finding it hard to find time to sit and read large portions, so I end up re-reading parts of it to remember what I was up to!

We have had 2 late nights this weekend, Nathan has coped really well. His sleeping I think is slowly getting better with longer stretchs of sleep. He will now sleep 3-4 hours, have a short wake (couple of minutes) then do another 3-4 hours etc. Much better! Now all I need to learn to sleep again!

Oh and he has decided he only wants 1 sleep during the day. So instead of having 2 x 1 hour sleeps, he is having 1 x 2 hour (approx) sleep. So same amount, but I think its contributing to the better night sleeping. I think this is beter for me too as I can have a nice long nap during the day if I need it!

I saw Anita (Miss Polly) had posted in our old thread, hope she pops in here too!

Hope everyone is well.

Good to hear Nathan's sleep is improving Janine. 1 2x hour sleep in the day is great - definately long enough for a nap! And his night sleeps sound much better. It must be nice for you, being able to get some good blocks of sleep. smile.gif

Annabelle had her party yesterday and it was lovely! The weather was great! - the cold snap that was predicted didnt show until today so it was nice and warm. Ive discovered that 30 people is the perfect number for a party. I had the chance to chat with everyone while still running after Annabelle and organising the food. Hubby and I made the cake the night before, a number one with Vienna Cream Icing and chocolate freckles. It turned out much better than I thought, since Im usually shocking with cakes, I was very impressed with our efforts. Then we made these cute teddy bear biscuits on a stick. Annabelle just loved them! She managed to stay clean for most of the day and was such a good girl wub.gif.

Has everyone noticed lots more cognitive development in their little ones? Annabelle now finds so many things fascinating and has to stop to see how they work. She loves that when she lifts the face washer out of the bath the water drips down and she tries to catch it. She loves the clip that holds her in the high chair and is forever trying to work out how it works. Its so cute!

What are your little ones discovering at the moment?

OMG JANE!! 20WKS thats fantasitc what a shock!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!
here i was excited my scan showed up 1 wk ahead!! ha ha

its good to read about all the july babies progress.. although they arnt babies anymore.. its all going way to quick and because i started back at work at 6mths i feel like its flown all too quick. I think im def. going to take some time off with the next baby (fingers crossed)

Jamie has been sick on/off since may.. one thing after the other.... ive taken endless days off work with him because i cant take him to day care and it just keeps getting worse and worse. this winter he has had 3 courses of antibiotics, conjunctivitis and a constant running nose and now the worst cough in history.. he is up all night chocking on his own phlem.. we've tried everything but nothing seems to work. Our new home smells of eucalyptus due to the vapouriser being on 24/7!

What are your little ones discovering at the moment?
The volume control on the amplifier.. jamie loves wheels/nobs at first he was just interested in turning it and all the other knobs but now he is starting to realise sound goes up/down etc..
also now that he is running around and bending down/up without leaning on anything he is learning to pick the ball up and throw it he thinks its facinating (to throw it) because untill now the ball was only used for "kicking".. bouncing balls get alot of laughs now
osmund
Janine - only one sleep a day for Nathan! I would die if K decided to do this. I really like the down time I get from the two naps. Do you think the less day sleeping has helped with his night sleeping?

Anita, sorry to hear that Jamie has been so sick recently. sad.gif It must be hard for all of you with the lack of sleep. How much maternity leave are you hoping for this time?

And Hayli, Janine, Kirstin and Jane - how much maternity leave are you guys planning on taking this time? More or less than last time? Well, I don't think Janine is working atm so maybe a silly question for her!

I am not back working since I resigned from my job back in Copenhagen so I have to find another one here. Generally I don't feel any rush to get back into work since I don't want to put K into childcare yet. But some days (like Monday) I wish that I did have some more mental stimulation than a small child! blink.gif

What are your little ones discovering at the moment?
It is so cute watching them figuring out how the world works. Like putting blocks on top each other or into to each other. K face is always so full of concentration, it is like you can hear the cogs ticking over!! Anyway, today I showed him how to bounce the ball (deliberately), he thought it was hilarious.
