I had a call a few minutes ago. My personal mentor. Professor in Art and Design and just about the best lecturer I have ever known...

He is heading overseas for a month to London to chair a conference, and he is hunting for someone to replace his lectures while he's away.

He's a very highly regarded lecturer in his field (in QLD). AND HE'S ASKED ME TO APPROACH MY FACULTY to see if they will release me for a month to attend his classes while he is away!!!!! As in a cross-institutional transfer!

I would be paid handsomely. And have inner city accommodation, such as it is, provided (suitable for Tockie, too). It would only be undergrad teaching - so nice and easy. And it would only be for a month....

Whether I go or not, I am THRILLED that the lecturer I think of as 'GOD' would even consider me as a replacement for a few weeks.... I still think of this guy as the *ants pants* in terms of design AND lecturing!

I SO want to do it!!!! Wondering the best angle to present it to my faculty????

SO - that's me. What about your exciting and happy news???????

sarasmum

My exciting news (exciting only to me tongue.gif) is that I FINALLY submitted my first assessment for my doula course - a draft actually - and my assessor loved it.

Well my exciting news is that we are now HOME OWNERS!!!!! We had settlement on Wednesday and immediately went around to the house to trip the locks biggrin.gif Well, all but one because there are/were still a few issues to be fixed, some of which were done today smile.gif I can't wait to see the house with carpet, tiles and a driveway within the next two weeks!

Good on you for making this decision! I've done a degree of love and despite the years of hard work and the fact I have no idea what to do with it (maybe teaching?), I'm so glad I did it. you won't regret doing something like this. And if you move overseas, make sure you don't become a stranger please!

How fantastic, all this passion about birth work! I'm actually doing the postnatal doula stuff at the moment as a bit of a 'taste' - I think I'm more interested in childbirth education than birth work per se but we shall see. Who are you studying with?
