It's very exciting... now instead of talking about being pregnant, we'll be talking about feeding, pooing & sleeping... (all of which Annabelle is doing quite well at, at the moment, but I remember the 6 week mark where it all changes from Noah!).
By the way, I have added my birth story to The Birthing Thread.

Hi Neph
Is anyone interested in giving a run down on their less then a week old bub
So far so good for us

Alan is feeding really well and I'm suprised it wasn't as hard as last time. I had prepared myself to be sore for weeks but one of the midwives that took care of me gave me a miracle cream for my ()()'s. Lansinoh 100% pure lanolin!
Alan is also sleeping really well and I'm getting him used to self settling from the beginning!
I must admit that I am loving second time around because I sort of have a headstart and don't have to figure things out all over again.

Hi girls

Still cant beleive I have two beautiful little girls now

Not long now and we will all be talking about our new little babies
Nyree good to hear that things are going well for you all.
We are going great. I am surprised with how well I am going this time around. I know its only early days but with Breanna I was really really tired and restless for the first few weeks. I feel like this time I am far more relaxed. Chelsea is a little doll. She sleeps so much at the moment and feeds well too. I have had cracked nipples again this time but like Nyree I was given some lanolin cream which has been excellent

I must say though that I am almost twice the size of what I was with Breanna

. I think we are off to a much better start this time around with Breastfeeding which is good. Chelsea seems to be up from 12 - 2 or so at night which is a little hard but I love it. She just lays there looking at me and we have some lovely cuddles. She feeds every 4 hours for about 20mins sometimes 40mins. I am just loving every bit of it at the moment.
O one thing that has shocked me is just how much they poo!! I forgot just how much
Well off to get some rest

I have to agree with you Nyree & YO, it is easier the second time around. Annabelle is feeding really well, and sleeps well. I noticed that she has her unsettled period from about 12pm to 5pm daily, which is better than in the middle of the night but hard when you are also trying to entertain a toddler! Especially a toddler who is finding it hard to adjust! Noah is doing well on the most part but he is a little bit more of a sook at the moment - I have to remember that there has been a lot going on in his little life lately, and he doesn't yet have the maturity to understand it all. What with, Steve's cancer and then surgery (not being home for a week) and then my having Annabelle and not being home for a week, then we bring home this new little person who needs so much attention. Plus we have started trying to get him to stop sucking his thumb which has always been a major comfort to him... He has turned into a real daddy's boy since I had Annabelle, which has been hard for me too.
My nipples are holding up well - I never had any cracks or pains with Noah, so I'm hoping it'll be the same this time. Annabelle breastfeeds roughly every 3 hours, which is great compared to Noah who fed every 2.5 hours - that extra half an hour really does make a difference!
YO - I know about the poo! Every nappy change there is a poo - it wasn't that bad with Noah. My little girl farts like a man too!
I'm looking forward to having the rest of the girls over on this side!

He has been through alot hasnt he. Breanna is close to Damo at the moment too.

Apr 12 2009, 11:41 AM
Dani, Madison has sooky moments too... mainly when we have visitors. Noah has had a bit on lately but I'm sure he'll come around for you

YG, yes I forgot about the poo too
Alan's feeds vary... he can go 2hrs through to 5hrs and when he's not feeding he's sleeping. We don't have any unsettled periods yet which is great.
I don't have cracked nipples this time (I did with Madison), they have just been tender but are getting better every day.
On Wednesday night my ()()'s were so sore and full that I just had to pump... 100mls in 10mins! I didn't think I'd get that much... at least now I have a bottle for his Baptism on the 3rd May.
Summa
Apr 13 2009, 11:49 AM
Nyree, Lil is the same, her feeds can vary anywhere between the 2 hour mark and five hour mark. The closer her feeds are together the less she drinks. I don't wake her at night for feeds, I just let her sleep until she gets hungry. General routine is 9:30pm feed, 12:00am feed, 3:30am feed and awake for an hour wanting to chat and then a 8:00am feed.
This bub being my first I expected it to be a lot harder than it is. I guess I can attribute that to her being on the bottle. We have even been out and about visiting people and been to the shops!
We have our first GP appointment tomorrow, for both me and her.
Nyree, how are you coping after the C section? I seem to be getting around a bit easier now. Had my staples out last week which hurt like hell!! It is going to kill me not to drive for six whole weeks!!!!
PS - my ticker is playing up, it won't update!!
I better go write my birth story!
**Bee**
Apr 13 2009, 01:44 PM
Sounds like our little babies are all going well which is great
Chelsea has been great. We had the MW around for a home visit yesterday and Chelsea is already 200g above her birthweight

I couldnt beleive it. I was getting worried as she is a little yellow and I have had to wake her up for some feeds. The MW said that the reason I had to wake her up for feeds was because she was so full after the last one. She only takes about 20mins a feed and settles pretty quickly. I said to Damo last night I forgot how much they sleep. All Chels does is eat, poo and sleep. We dont have very much awake time at all. I am just so inlove with her and cant seem to stop looking at her

Breanna is a great big sister and I cant beleive how good she is being.
Damo is back to work tomorrow

Will be abit hard at first because he has just been so good helping out. Breanna is in daycare tomorrow so it will just be me and Chels. Might go get some photos printed I think
I must write my birth story still

have been pretty slack. Might try and do it tomorrow too.

Summa, I'm recovering great after the c-sec. I'm getting around really well and actually feel like a normal person. I really have to watch myself though because I easily over do things so I am being really consious of that. I'm probably being a little over the top but I want a really fast and uneventful recovery. I've only been out once since we got home on Wednesday afternoon and that was to the GP to have vaccinations for me, Nathan and Madison.
My doctor gave me some great rules to follow for the next 6 weeks... the first 2 weeks I need to pretend I'm in hospital and sit around and do nothing, the first 4 weeks I can't drive and for the full 6 weeks I can't do anything that would put pressure on my belly, like push a shopping trolly, vaccum the house, hang clothes on the line etc. Oh and for the full 6 weeks I can't lift anything heavier then Alan.
I had stitches too... no staples for me and it just tickled when they pulled them out.
YG, Nathan is back to work next Monday and I'm dreading it because he has been such a great help! We don't have very much awake time either. I'm really suprised with Madison too at how good she is being
We are off to the Baby Clinic on Wednesday afternoon to check up on Alan. It's at the same hospital and is offered to patients who have given birth at the hospital.
Summa
Apr 14 2009, 07:48 AM
Nyree I am glad you are recovering well. I think I am overdoing it to be honest. It is just so hard, I am such a clean freak everything has to be perfect and I hate having to hassle hubby to get it done. I haven't vacummed or anything like that but I do bend over to pick things up and squat which is a little painful. I looked at my cut last night and it is half open, pretty gross, doesn't look infected or anything but just open. We are off for our one week check up at the GP this morning so hopefully he might butterfly clip it or something.
I like your Dr's rules, makes it a bit easier to follow.
Hubby is back at work today but I think me and Lil will be fine. He worked all last week while we were in Hospital and only had Thursday off (besides Easter break). I will miss him though.
We are also off to the shops this morning. My poor mum, has to be our taxi for the next six weeks!
Youngone, glad Chels is putting on weight. I am anxious to see what Lil weighs this morning. She is such a guts with her bottles I am scared I am overfeeding her, although mum assures me I am not.
Horrible day here today, lots of rain and a bit dark.
**Bee**
Apr 14 2009, 12:01 PM
Summa Im sure your not over feeding her. I sometimes think that too. I also sometimes think Im not feeding her enough

just one of the things us mothers worry about I guess. You will always worry about something now

You make sure you take it easy missy. You dont want to go hurting yourself. Im like you though, I hate a messy house and I find myself running around doing things I should either. I didnt have a c-sec but I was told to take it easy too. I have pretty bad separation of the abdominal muscles down the middle of my tummy. You can almost fit 3 fingers in the middle of the two muscles. It is normal to have some separation during pregnancy but not to much. I have to do some excerices and go back to the physio in a month to see how things are going. Anyway goodluck at the shops today and the GP let us know how you go
Well this is Damos first day back at work today and Im finding it pretty good so far. Mind you Breanna is in care today. Poor little girl didnt want to go

Broke my heart saying goodbye but I know she will have fun. Chelsea has been asleep most the day but we did get a little play thismorning before her sleep which was nice. Well better go clean some toys I think and get ready for the next feed.

Apr 14 2009, 02:17 PM
So much for our big day out!! Got to the GP and the first thing he looked at was my tummy. Well it was gaping open and was 1cm deep. I knew they took the staples out too early. So I had to be completely restitched and am now back at square one. He is going to call the Hospital and let them know what happened. He wasn't impressed.
Lil was healthy, she now weighs 7 pound 13 so is putting on weight nicely!
So we came straight home after my appointment so I could rest. Mum did all my washing and ironing and cleaned my house, wouldn't know what to do without her!!!
Youngone you take it easy too. It must be hard though with a toddler running around!!
Nyree hows things with you?
**Bee**
Apr 14 2009, 02:34 PM

Summa! I cant beleive they took them out when it wasnt ready. You poor thing having to get restitched

I hope your ok. Try and take it easy now! You will need lots of rest. Its great that your Mum has been helping you out. The housework can wait. Its not important. Its hard to get your head around it at first I know. Great news about Summa putting weight on too!
Nyree
Apr 14 2009, 08:13 PM
Summa, oh no about your cut! I bet the GP wasn't impressed. Make sure you take it easy ok... let your Mum and hubby do the jobs. That's what I've been doing

Lap it up while you can... it's only 6 weeks and there has to be some positives from a c-sec! Great news about Lil putting on weight.
YG, hope the rest of your afternoon went well

Madison went to day care today too so it was just Nathan, Alan and me for the day.
Well we are off to the Baby Clinic tomorrow for a check up. I'm looking forward to finding out how much weight Alan has put on. He's been feeding really well.

Nyree goodluck with the checkup today. Let us know how it all goes. We have another one on Monday.

Im abit tired today but feeling good otherwise.

YO, Lil grunts a lot too, but in her sleep so I get up thinking she is awake but she is dead to the world!! She was wide awake at 3am for an hour so I kinda just sat with her until she fell asleep.
My stitches are really hurting today, and it's not like I can sit and do nothing with bubby wanting to be fed and changed etc.

Appointment is at 240pm so I'll be back later to let you know how it went

Hi guys,
Just introducing myself and hope to be a part of the April yummy mummy's! I followed the pregnancy thread but didn't post too much, as was busy finishing work and moving house. Think it will be great to be able to support each other in becoming new mums, or in welcoming the new addition to your family.
My beautiful boy Mitchell James came into the world on 6th April, 5 days past his due date. Thankfully, it was a natural labour and natural birth with no complications, other than quite a large tear and stitches, given his size of 8lb 5oz, but everything is going well and settling into home life.
We are still trying to get into a sort of routine, but find we are all over the place at the moment. He is feeding well, although my nipples are sore and have blistered in some areas (am now trying the lasinoh and hope that works to help them heal), and he is sleeping well. Has an unsettled time in the evening but he is mostly a good little man who we are totally in love with!
Will be following the tips of everybody and look forward to sharing the sleepless nights with u,
Tanya

Nyree Im naughty too with the day sleeps. Ive been bad and havent had one since the day after she got home

I think I might go lay down now while both the girls are in bed. Better start somewhere I guess. Cant wait to hear how your little man is going.
Tanya congrats on the birth of your little boy

Sounds like you are going great so far. I have had the blisters on the nipples too and they arent fun

Hope they get better for you soon.
Summa
Apr 15 2009, 05:21 PM
Welcome Tanya, congrats on Mitchell! Lanisoh is meant to be brilliant on nipples. I am bottle feeding so can't offer much advice.
YO, I had a nap today while Lil was asleep. Unfortunately I missed both Dr Phil and Oprah though! Might have another nap now while we wait for hubby to get home from work.
Took Lil outside today in her bouncer for some fresh air. She loved it (I think!!).
Nyree how'd your appointment go?
Nyree
Apr 15 2009, 05:32 PM
Welcome Tanya.
Appointment went well

Alan has put on weight and is nice and healthy. He has also grown 2cm which puts him at 56cm now!
A couple of things though... he is a little tongue tied but is feeding fine so it's nothing for us to worry about, he should grow out of it. His right foot also needs encouragement to sit properly. His left foot is fine though. Nothing to worry about... just things to help him along with.
On the way home we bought a double pram. We weren't going to because our SIL gave us her old one but it is a monster and totally not practicle for our little Kia Rio. We were going to go without but then Dad offered to buy us something big (because he bought the cot when we were expecting Madison).
Sorry if I sound a bit all over the shop... am a bit tired and have had a rough afternoon with Madison.
**Bee**
Apr 15 2009, 05:52 PM
Great to hear that Alan is doing well. Nice of your dad to get you a double pram too. What kind did you get? Hope Madison is better for you tomorrow or is she in care?
Summa Breanna loved being outside in her bouncer too. Have yet to take Chels out. She is always asleep
Chels seemed alot more alert today. She had a couple of awake periods today which was lovely. I didnt get that sleep I wanted either as Chelsea decided she wanted food. Im feeling abit tired too. Fingers crossed we get a good nights sleep

Good morning mummies,
A sleepless night for me, little one just did not settle. Does anyone have any settling tips if bubs is well fed, clean and warm. Tried rocking, patting, cuddling, usual things but he just wouldn't settle at all. i know its probably just a baby being a baby but any suggestions would be great!
Otherwise the maternal nurse came around yesterday for a visit and weighed our little man who has already put on 600g since leaving the hospital!! What a little porker! He is definitely a good feeder.
Have a good day

Nyree glad to hear Alan is nice and healthy!
Tanya Lil kept me awake from 12am until 3:30am, she wasn't unsettled just wide awake. I tried everything, she was fed, had a clean bottom, burped etc. I ended up pacing the house with her in my arms and just kept patting her. I also put the dummy in. After 3 hours it seemed to work!! So today I am exhausted...
And my belly hurts... sorry for the whinge!
YO, did you get your good nights sleep?
**Bee**
Apr 16 2009, 12:35 PM
Yep we got a great nights sleep

I am one very happy Mummy today! We got a good 3 hours sleep before her first night feed and she was back inbed asleep within an hour and slept for another 4 hours after that. I got about 7 hours so very happy with that.
Tanya Im not sure what else you can do. You sound like your doing everything you can really. Sometimes they just have times where they are upset. In hospital when Chelsea was upset I tried putting some music on next to us while I was holding her all wrapped up and she calmed right down. Another thing you can try is a nice warm bath. Other than that, no idea. Sounds like he is feeding great though

Gotta be happy with that.
Summa sorry to hear your tummy is sore

Are you taking it easy? Hope Summa sleeps better today.
How is everyone else going?
Chelsea seems to be feeding alot quicker now. My boobies must be working her out

How long does everyone else bub take to feed? We are taking about 20mins. Sometimes less
Nyree
Apr 16 2009, 03:05 PM
YG, Alan feeds for about 10 - 20mins too. I do get a little worried sometimes that he hasn't had enough but he doesn't seem to be a starving baby so I guess he is ok. Madison is at day care on Friday so she is home today

The pram we got is a BabyLove Tandem Lite. It's nice and light and folds up to nothing!
Tanya, sounds like your doing everything right... and YG's suggestions are good too.
Summa, hope you are resting today. We had a night similar to that two days ago after I ate chilli for dinner accidentally (without even thinking). It really upset Alan's belly and after he did a spew he was fine. 6pm to 1am it was
Not much happening around here today... Madison is at home with us today but is off to day care tomorrow. We are going to go shopping for her 2nd birthday present tomorrow morning after we drop her off.

Hi girls
Stealing a few mins to do my first post in here - on the other side! Yay
Welcome Tanya, sounds like things are going great for you. Look forward to getting to know you and sharing the journey. As for settling, I have found singing lullabies to be good, I sing all the time - even through breast feeds when I am feeling her latch on! It helps to make us both feel better I think! Also a bath might be soothing.
I second the Lansinoh! Also a bit of milk smeared on to air dry is apparently good too. But most of all I swear by Mothers Mates (gel pads you put in the fridge then on you nipples after a feed to soothe!!) It was heaven the first time I put them on - my milk came in w a vengeance and I had blocked ducts - a very tricky day but we got through it!!
Eliza sleeps well during the day, feeding around 3 to 4 hourly, with some cluster feeds in the late evening. the duration of her feeds vary but average around 20 min and at times just from one side only. always more unsettled at night! loves a bath!!
had the midwife from hosp do the 1st home visit - she was most pleased with her progress, putting on lots of weight!
Must go now and have a nap before she wakes for the next feed.
Have a good night everyone!

Sounds like Eliza is going well. She is such a cutie! Love her hair
Nyree good to hear that Alan is going well.
Hows everyone else??
I just found a toddler seat for my pram on ebay for only $30 brand new

Thats compared with the $99 the baby shop here wanted for the same one

Im super happy with that. I was going to look at getting a smaller pram as ours is massive but either way I will have to undo the clips for the babyseats in my car to get it out anyways. WE have a hatchback so its a bit of a pain.
Anyways I better run we are going to my Mums for dinner so I need to start getting ready.

Hi
Great to see you here on the other side Liq! Eliza has lots of hair just like Annabelle!
Annabelle has been really windy too, just like Alan & Chelsea. Last night she cried for the first time! It broke my heart. I think it's because I have been eating a lot of onions, on my lunch and in my dinner, so I am going to cut them out and see if there is an improvement. Other than that, things are going well. Annabelle's unsettled period is now at her 4am feed, luckily for me my beautiful hubby, gets up with Noah and lets me sleep in until Annabelle wakes for her 7.30am feed. We can roughly pick out a pattern with her feeds, she feeds pretty much 3 hourly with one 5 hour patch between 7.30pm till 12.30am then 4am and 7.30am... can't complain at all!
As for me healing after my c-section, I have to say I feel great. I am back to normal completely, although I won't start my exercise routine again until I have my 6 week check, just to be sure. My scar looks like a big smile... DH teases me when we compare our recent scars...
Summa, how is your tummy going? I hope it's healing okay! And how is Lily?
Young One, YAY on the buy! Have fun tonight.
Welcome Tanya too!

good work on the toddler seat yg! love a bargain!
well after describing eliza's feeds, today they have been completely different!

She fed for longer periods (eg 30 -35) mins closer together in the morning, then had a really long sleep over lunchtime.
I had some luck with positioning with the cradle hold - wasn't so awkward today! So very happy about that. Am starting to relax more about everything which I think is definitely helping.

Dani you are so lucky so be feeling great. I am still in a fair bit of pain. Have to go back to GP tomorrow for him to look at my stitches and see whether they can be taken out yet. The wound looks really good, nice and clean and looks to be healing. Do you or Nyree have any pulling sensations though? When I move in certain ways I feel it pulling but I think it is the internal stitches that are pulling. It is really uncomfortable. And I can't lay on my side anymore cause it hurts too much.
Liq, sounds like you are doing great!
Lil was such a good girl last night, had a midnight feed, 4am feed and then a 7:30am feed and went straight back to sleep after both night feeds. Admittedly I did put her in bed with me after the 4am feed cause hubby went to work and it was cold and I wanted her to be close to me.

Summa, I don't have any pulling feeling but I've only just been able to lie on my side since Saturday night... before then it was uncomfortable and didn't feel right.
Liq, great news about the cradle hold working out. And good to hear you are feeling a bit more relaxed.
Dani, great to hear you are feeling good!
YG, good news on the toddler seat.
Well I am feeling great (like Dani), I feel totally normal but I am still behaving myself and sticking to my docs rules. I don't want to do too much just because I feel ok. I am allowed to start exercise walking at 4 weeks but still have to take it easy and can't do hills strait away.
My in-laws arrived yesterday afternoon and Nathan went back to work today... from next Monday we'll be on our lonesome. So far my MIL has cooked (and cleaned) bacon and eggs breaky for us, has a casserole in the slow cooker for dinner and has carried my washing from the laundry to the bedroom for me to sort and fold.
At the moment I am waiting to make sure Madison is asleep and then I might head off for one of my own if Alan stays asleep too... here's hoping! (It worked out yesterday, lucky me).

YO, we didn't have a great night either. I knew Lil slept too long yesterday. She was up from 2am onwards - just wide awake and doing her usual grunting. I tried everything, made sure she wasn't hungry, burped her, checked her nappy, sang songs, cuddled her but she wasn't going to sleep. So eventually 5am rolled around and she decided to have a nap until 7am. I fed her and now she is fast asleep!! I can't sleep now though as I have my Dr appt shortly and have to get ready.
How often are you girls getting your bubs weighed? Lil got weighed last week at the Dr and I was going to take her to the midwife at the chemist to get weighed from now on but do I do it weekly, monthly etc??
Have a good day out with your mum YO.
I hope I get my stitches out today!!
