Well I have to go do the shopping today

I hate going shopping now days. The girls are good and all but I just hate going

Im going to get some spray bottles when out. We did a big course on health/safety last night in training and we learnt all about cleaning products and how most are just crap and shouldnt be used

The best cleaning product is just washing up liquid and water in a spray bottle and paper towels. Wipe down the surface first, spray with the liquid and water and wipe it over and dry it off. That has been proven to kill more germs over say pine-o-clean (which I use all the time

) And alot safer to use around the home when young children are around. Thats all we can use in our home now! Of course for cleaning the shower and stuff you need stronger things but for everyday use and change tables and stuff its the way to go. Just some random info I thought I would share

That all we use at preschool for tables, toys, change tables, surfaces etc. Mopping during the day too and toilets - in the evening children go to another room and the floors and toilets are done with bleach and disinfectant

Bee, I use Enjo and water to clean. I love my Enjo

I even use it for the bathroom and shower.
When I do buy cleaning products I buy the brand Method. Enjo sells a lot of Method and Woolies stock some now too. They have great bathroom wipes which I use for the toilet. They are flushable too and all the Method products are safe for kids, pets and the environment.
Plus their surface spray smells like lavender... not like a hospital
Oh and their toilet cleaner (Bowl Patrol) is absolutely fantastic!
Ok enough of the cleaning talk... hope everyone has a great day! We are off to do a Tupperware delivery and then heading to the park.

I use pine-o-cleen spray and liquid for the floor.
Might have to try the washing up detergent and water though, i do like the sounds of it and much cheaper, thanks Bee
Alana- Poor Ry, that rash sounds awful. Hopefully he gets better soon

Monica- Oh! Pool...nice. I'd love to take Will swimming- what kind of sunscreen do you put on her?
Nyree- thanks for the MS word tip. WooHoo to Alan on dropping the wrap- he's so adjustable

We are in a grobag now too, and nothing at all for daysleeps.
Bee- I'm there with you on cleaning products. I use vinegar & bicarb on almost everything. I've never thought of washing up liquid & water though, what a great tip, i'm going to try that

It's so simple really- if it's good enough to clean the plates we eat off, why wouldn't it be good enough to clean the benchtops?
Nep- I'm having a Baby BeeHinds demonstration this month, was going to order from the website but they were all out of stock, and you get a discount with the consultant. Let me know if you want to order anything, I might be able to get you a discount (the whole group gets $$ off depending on the total sales, not just the host

)
In our news- We've dropped the dummy! I think daycare has helped a lot with that, because i forgot to tell them he used one, and so they never gave it to him. We went back to CIO for about a week, and now he goes straight into the cot, and less than ten minutes later he's on his tummy (a solid tummy sleeper now!) and fast asleep. I'm so happy it's gone.
A question about solids- we've got dinner downpat, and i know what to cook, but when do i serve what? Are there particular lunch/dinner meals, or should i just serve whatever comes out? At the moment, he munches down on toast for breakfast & then puree for lunch and dinner. I'm just so confused...

I use the banana boat babies suncream, it's in a pink roll-on bottle and the only one suitable for under 1 I think
I have just been doing sweet for breakfast and savoury for dinner. She likes the savoury more so I will introduce savoury for lunch when she has the hang of the other two. I was also thinking of trying some yoghurt, what does everyone else use? Mum suggested a soy one given her original intolerance to the formula but I think now she is on the 6mths plus formula with no reaction we should be fine.
I just looked at the calendar this morning and realised I missed my counselling appt on Monday, opps. We have the marriage counselling today.

Not a problem Monica

I like the idea of it being much cheaper too
Amy - I agree with you. If its good enough to wash up in, it has to be good enough to use for cleaning everything else too. We dont get sick from eating off plates washed up in it!

Yay for the dummy going too! I wish Chelsea would drop it but I dont think she will. She only has it to go to sleep so its not to bad. Breanna only got rid of hers about 6 months ago

With meals for bubs. We have banana porridge (raffertys garden) and add either pear or apple to it, lunch is yoghurt (at the moment until we start bread) and dinner is a mixture of vegies (will start meat and chicken next week). Im going to try some watermelon with Chels thisarvo. Its so hot here today so Im going to put the girls in out the back (in swimmers/nappy) under the shade with the sprinkler on and they can eat a watermelon

I might even join them
O not sure if any of you have seen this page yet but I thought I would post the link anyways. I found some great ideas for Breanna when she was younger on here

Amy, I normally stick with fruit & farex for breaky, yoghurt for lunch and vegies for dinner. That’s great news about the dummy!
Monica, hope the counselling goes well today.
Bee, Madison only got rid of her dummy 6 months ago too. We tried and tried and tried to get her to ditch it once she it 1 but it never happened.

Bee the sprinkler sounds like a great idea! Wish I could joint you. This pregnancy is going great, I feel so good apart from being tired. And I have felt the baby move already! I have a check up tomorrow at the Hospital.
Amy, that is great about dropping the dummy. Lily relies on hers so much it is kinda annoying sometimes.
Well I better get going, have to finish the housework, going to the hairdresser tonight, they are holding a GHD night showing all different ways to use them. There is another new one out for Xmas (black and silver) so I mite even get that one to add to my collection!

So counselling was good. It case out that I am still really angry about what happened to me and that I still feel resentful to DH for not being as supportive at the time as he could have been.
Our consellor thinks that the psychologist have been seeing is of no benefit. He thinks that I need someone with a strong medical background to explain what happened to me and try and help me move forward. I am going to see him separately for this (it's bulked billed so I know he isn't trying to push his service on me, he is actually our family GP that also has some sort of degree.certificate in counselling).
He also has us doing a Myers Briggs personality profile which I have done before in a professional situation. It's pretty fascinating stuff and hopefully it will give us the knowledge of each others personalities more and how to better approach situations
Sorry, was that too much info?

Hi Girls, i am just so exhausted at the moment and won;t be doing personals, this doesnt mean i dont care about you all...
So, we went up and seen her and spoke to the doctors tonight, and things have just gone so wrong today. She was going for an operation this morning to remove fluid on her knee (she had a re-construction and it has never been quite right, had 4 ops in the last 8 years on it) and as they were putting her out, she had a cardiac arrest and another during the operation. So they will be leaving her in the induced coma until atleast tomorrow night, and then will hopefully be able to bring her out slowly. They have figured out the infection she has, it is apparently a really aggressive skin infection and they dont know how it go into her blood as it isnt common.
Scott, his dad and brother are all total wrecks (as imagined) and im just trying to remember as much as the docotrs tell us so i am able to talk to MIL about it later on. I have started a little diary, and am writing most things down. FIL still has alot of appointments for his cancer and back, so trying to organize him aswell.
Thanks for thinking of us...

Mon- counselling sounds good, never too much information here. I tried the Jalna yoghurt with Mitch but was too rich for his tummy and had big vomits afterwards but the vaalia baby yoghurt is ok so just using that every 2nd or 3rd day.
Off to gymbaroo today, Mitch loves it, therefore I love it too!
BTW - I am also addicted to vinegar for cleaning. Hubby thinks our house is starting to smell like a fishnchip shop

Morning ladies,
well i survived my first day in the office.....but getting out the door was a debarcle in itself. (I'll post about the saga in my blog sometime today) but once i got there it was fine, & DS was very easy for his nana yesterday. I will admit to being absolutely shattered by the time i got home.
I've tried the sleeping bag with DS & not much luck. After half an hour of him not settling i gave up. I've been putting him in with his arms inside but he gets them through the arm holes within minutes.
Seems the prune & apricot puree mixed in with his farex each morning has fixed his constipation. He had to have it 4 mornings straight but it definately got him moving. I might give it to him twice a week from now on just to keep him regular. Still not having much luck with the water, i have to really fight him to get him to take 20mls. I'll keep persisting.
Alana, happy 6 mths for Ry yesterday & happy 7mths to Alan for yesterday Nyree

Happy 7 mths to Chels & Lily for today!

Happy 6 months Ry and Happy 7 months to all the other babies.
I am still wrapping Paige..will try a sleeping bag when it gets a bit warmer.
I can just see her first tooth this morning, makes sense as she has been a little whingey lately and that is not like her.
I give Paige the Vallia yougurt that Alana was talking about, she loves it and eats the whole tub.

Toffee, it took Nina 50 mins the first time we used the grobag, had to let her try a little, but if you're not comfortable with that it can be tough. Glad your first day back wasn't too bad.
Well, after a bad start to the day (not much sleeping done between 3.30 and 8.20), she went down in under 2 mins at did just under 2 hours, record!
Has anyone started to get cuddles? If Nina is on my lap, she will nestle under my chin, really close, it's beautiful. She held her arms out for Pa once but hasn't done it again.
Constantly saying Mum now more than anything, I love it

Yes we get cuddles here, & he leans over towards me if someone else is holding him & he decides he wants his mummy - i love that. It's like he's saying "i pick you"
On the upside i got massive hugs & smiles when i picked him up from Nana's last night. It's lovely seeing them so excited & happy to have you back.
Go Paige!! which tooth is it rikki? DS loves that yoghurt too.
Emma, sorry to hear your MIL isn't doing so well, i hope she pulls through, sounds like she's a fighter. I'm probably too far away to be of any help to you, but i'm here if you need to chat.
for those of you using bicard & vinegar for cleaning. What ratio are you using? I want to use it but i'm not sure if you do it half, half or 3 parts vinegar 1 part bicarb or some other ratio?
I took the fridge bag yesterday, i packed DS food into it, when i got to MIL, i took his food out & put it in her fridge, then took the bag to work with me. I had to express some milk during the day, so i put that in the freezer at work....and bought it home on the train in the cooler bag, so far i'm happy with the purchase.

Yes Ry has been giving out cuddles for a little while now. He always reaches out for his Daddy sometimes i dont see OH walk past and Ry almost jumps out of my arms ! When OH goes to work for about 30mins after Ry will call out dad dad and be really whingy.
Ry graps your neck with little bits of skin in his hands and pulls ( very painful ) put smashes his mouth on your face, open mouth and sucks - We call them his Kisses.
Ry's new thing at the moment is he'll find you in the house, crawl up to you and pull at your legs to get up - always when im on the phone he will scream if you dont pick him up.
Happy seven month Bubba's
Hi Kristalee - thinking of you. x
Im about to get some house work done before mum comes over - she is taking Ry and i to the shops for coffee <3.
Toffee - i have just starting reading you blog , love it , your writing is very thoughtful.
I have been cracking down on the wedding / baptism details today. Booked the ceremony spot. The Pastor and i are writting a letter to the elders council of the church to get the approval of having the baptism outside of the church - hopefully that all goes through well : )
OH and I are in disagreement about the food after now. I want canapes at the ceremony location fully done by the tea house there. He want the complete wog BBQ lunch back at our house. I see his point the canapes are $40 a head where as we can do a full relaxing long BBQ lunch, drinks and Alcohol for less than that at home. I would be fine with it except a month later its Ry's first BDay and we were going to have a BBQ for that - Is it ok to have 2 ??? So confusing

Nov 5 2009, 02:09 PM
Kristalee, thanks for popping in.
Happy 7 months bubba's!
Hugs: yes we are getting them. No mum or dad sounds yet though.
Vaalia Yoghurt: we used it a few times and Alan liked it. We had to switch though because Vaalia tubs are only 60g and Alan was eating two of them. Now he has a Yoplait 100g tub and occasionally has a second.
Toffee, great to hear the purchase was worth it!
I've also decided not to wean yet. I tried giving Alan a bottle on Monday and he just stuffs around with it so much it's ridiculous. 30mins to drink one bottle. A BF takes 10mins max because he is such a pro.
I'm in unfamiliar territory now because I stopped feeding Madison when she was 6 1/2 months...
Monica
Nov 5 2009, 02:55 PM
Thanks for saying hi Kristalee, hoe you and your family are doing ok, I often think about you and Lola, xo
Alana - I'm all for the canapes. Your wedding is special and whilst I also love a BBQ, do something a bit more upmarket to make your special day. We did finger food for $32 per head and there was at least 15 -20 pieces per person and it was so gourmet (salmon skewers, dumplings, rice paper rolls etc etc). Everyone still comments on how nice it was not to be laden with a plate and have to sit down.
Nyree - Alan will wean when he is ready. We have the opposite problem, Nina is at times so difficult to breastfeed am ready to give up. It's going from being 10 mins to half an hour of latching on and pulling off, so frustrating!
Happy 6 months Ry (was it yesterday, I forgot to look at your ticker)
Bee - Chels is saying hello??????
Rikki - hope the teething isn't too painful for you both!
Our avo sleep is becoming a bit of a joke. She is in there now talking bad has been since 4pm. I thought she needed one as we've been ut all day and she only cat naps in the pram

Thanks for popping in Kristalee, I too, am another that thinks of Lola often!
We have dropped yoghurt for a little while, as everytime she was having it, she was spewing it back, so its been a few weeks, i might try her on some in the coming weeks again.
She is saying mum only at the moment!! usually when she is upset, cause she knows mummy helps her then! the other morning it was at 3am when she rolled over in the cot and couldn't get back (she is only rolling tummy to back one way and she was against the side of the cot so couldn;t get back)
For breakfast we have the rafferty's bananna porridge, lunch is vegies (2 cubes) and fruit (1-2 cubes depending on how grumpy she is) and dinner is vegies (3 cubes) and custard (usually the entire can) The cubes i've got are bigger then avg, i did a little test with 'normal' cubes Vs the ones i ahve and there is 1.5 normal cubes in my one, so she is eating plenty i think. She is alaso having a little bit of our plates, she is loving cheese at the moment, i'm thinking about making a cheese sause to mix in with the vegies.
As for MIL, i am heading up now to see her, but when i spoke to Scott at lunch time, she was improving, but they are expecting her to be in coma until Sunday, which will be 5 days. Better as she can't feel pain, but not better caus ei want her to wake up so i kno she is ok

Your wedding/baptism sounds great. I like the idea of the canapes for this celebration and the big bbq for Ry's 1st birthday. I think celebrating the 2 occassions differently like that would help differentiate the memories in your own head when you look back on those occasions in 20 years from now. JMO.
I'm using the sleeping bag on DS & wrapping his arms loosely, and loosening the wrap even more each time to try & wean him off. He can't seem to get to sleep with his arms unwrapped unless i cuddle him to sleep.

Nov 6 2009, 07:44 AM
The night waking is doing my head in. For the second night in a row she woke at 11.30 and of course because I fed her the first time, I'm sure that's why she woke last night. I tried patting for 45 mins but gave up and fed, she wouldn't settle straight away that took another half an hour. She then woke at 4and again at 6, I fed both times as I was too tired to do anything else. She is now in her cot and has been for the last 40 mins, crying and banging the side of the cot.
I sent DH a stern text msg on his way home telling him he has to do some of the night shift on the nights he isn't working, it's not fair that I am constantly doing it, he agreed(mind you, he said you make the bottle and I will give it to her to which I replied,no, you can make the bottle and you can't give it to her in front of the TV or computer, it has to be in the room, dark, he seemed annoyed, men!)
I don't know what more I can do. Do I get tough and just keep patting and not feeding? I am thinking about getting a single mattress for the lounge room floor, I can use that and DH can use the lounge and we can let her CIO a few nights in a row, any advice?
toffee
Nov 6 2009, 12:02 PM
Mon maybe she's teething? In which case, you just have to put up with it or put some teething cream on her gums?
I still get up twice a night to DS. 95% of the time its for feeds & if that's what she's waking up for, no amount of CIO will work.
I have a spare single mattress here you can have. Its not very thick, but i haven't used in years. It'd do for a couple of nights if you want to try that option.
I took DS to clinic this morning to have him weighed, the last time he was weighed was 16/10 - so 3ish weeks ago? He's only put on 100grms in 3 weeks & the ECHN was a bit concerned. So back to fortnightly weighing for us. She relaxed a bit when i said we had an apptmt with the paed early Dec. He's dropped from the 25th percentile to the 10th percentile, so i think that's the bit the nurse was concerned about.
He weighs 7.25kgs today
Sarah Kate
Nov 6 2009, 12:58 PM
Toffee, I think that is a great weight for his age. He is only 600gms lighter than Nathan. They are starting to move around more now and it burns more energy. I hate it when health nurses put fear into us because if he was staving you would know about it. Having said that if he was overweight you would hear all about that too!!
Emma, so glad to hear your MIL has gotten better. That is awesome news!!

I could understand waking once through the night and being hungry but I really think she is just waking out of habit
SK - happy birthday for Sunday, hope you have an awesome cake (not convinved making your own cake is part of the deal though!)

Emma, that’s great that your MIL is improving.
Monica, great pic!
Toffee, great news about the rolling.
SK, sounds like you have a nice weekend planned. Happy Birthday for Sunday.
Not much happening here. The gro bag is going well and yesterday he even had a few days sleeps without it because it was just too hot.
We are going to a Learning Ladder party tomorrow morning. Sunday morning swimming and then Sunday arvo I have a Tupperware party.

Go Paige!! which tooth is it rikki? DS loves that yoghurt too.
I can just see the tops of the two bottom ones! She is not to unsettled so they must not be giving her to much grief. I have been reading your blog and I really like it

Ry graps your neck with little bits of skin in his hands and pulls ( very painful ) put smashes his mouth on your face, open mouth and sucks - We call them his Kisses.
Paige does that too..it really hurts doesn't it!! I agree with Toffee and the canapes for the wedding would be really nice and the BBQ for Rys bday would be good, just to celebrate them differently.

I had Paige weighed last week and she weighs 6.82kg, the nurse was a little concerned as she was really long, so I have to go back next month..I agree what Sk said about the nurses sometimes!

Hope you have a great birthday SK

I'm not too worried about his weight, he is still quite chucky but he still had wet/dirty nappies, still alert etc. but i'll keep an eye on it anyway. Last night he ate double what he usually eats for dinner so maybe he understood what the nurse said ? haha
On the upside, he only woke up once last night.
Mon how's nina going with her solids now? has it gotten any better? Blake wasn't eating a lot to begin with but is finally getting the hang of it. I was thinking of you this morning when i realised i had only gotten up once overnight & thought maybe Nina really is waking because she's hungry if she's still getting the hang of solids?
I've gone cold turkey on the wrap this morning, when i picked him up at 6.30am he had wriggled so much with it, it was up around his neck & it was too tight for my comfort, i don't want him accidently strangling himself so the wrap is gone!

Toffee - we are going cold turkey this morning too. Ill see how he goes for his morning sleep as to whether i do it again at his afternoon one. Ry keeps getting out of it and going onto his belly but he is sooooooooo depends so much on it - im not looking forward to it

Just re: the wrap.. Soph had one really bad night where she kept getting arms out and rolling over, she is yet to have another. She sleeps so well wrapped, and well, im depending on that sleep at the moment with everything going on, so i am back on the wrapping badwagin! plus, she is spending the days with ppl who she has never stayed with before due to everything happening, so i want to make it as easier as possible for them and her!

Em - you do whatever you need to do to get through this difficult time, so glad your MIL is improving, fingers crossed she keeps going that way!
Toffee - she still deosn't have the hang of solids though in saying that, last night for dinner I mixed yoghurt/pear and added a little prune juice so it was super runny and she couldn't get it in to her mouth quick enough. She was licking her lips and just lapping it up. At one point I held the container (it was a little round one) up to her mouth like a cup and she drank it so yeah, I think at times she is hungry.
I don't think that's a bad weight for Blake either, he is still breastfed yes? Always a little slower with the weight gain than FF. Nina has only really started to look fatter since we introduced 2 bottles a day of formula. Yay on only getting up once!
Alana - good luck with teh cold turkey, Ry is a good sleeper so I'm sure he'll be fine.
Nyree - enjoy the party and I hope you get lots of TW sales!
RJ - My girl long too, which always makes them look leaner. Are you still BFing?
Well, Nina was awful to settle last night. We were at Mum and Dad's and whilst she went down ok, she woke 4 times before 10pm. In the end I was cradling her and we were both crying. Mum decided to swing in to action, told us to stay the night, she would be with Nina in the lounge room in the port-a-cot and I could sleep in the spare room. Well it was 11pm by the time we all went to bed and I could hear Mum trying to settle her, she eventually went off at 12.45am (she wasn't hugry as I BF at 10.15). There were bottles for her and also juice but Mum decided to be tough and just keep patting her. She woke at 2 and then 4 and took very little patting back to sleep. She eventually woke at 7.25. So, I am going to keep it going for the next few nights and see if we can fix the problem. I will make sure she is full even if I have to top her up with a bottle before bed. DH and I are going to camp out in the loungeroom.
She is also very constipated. Got some prune juice and the coloxyl. Poo bugger was is so much pain yesterday. Not sure what's done it either as she has pear everyday. I can't get water in to her but she has been having a little juice and I ahve been adding 10ml to her bottles.
