Hi Ladies,

Just wondering if someone can tell me how to make a map to include in the invitation.

I have seen them round here but have no idea on how to do it. wacko.gif

The only thing I can think of using is the google maps and I don't think they will look that good on a wedding invitation...

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers

Jess

Hi

I took some inspiration from this site and then I searched around local tourism websites (we are having a destination wedding) & merged it with one from our venue website. A bit of free hand drawing involved.

I am not too worried about it being exactly “to scale” I more concentrated on adding the local landmarks & the venues & hotels to mine.

I would go to HERE

type in the addy you want

get the map to the size you want ie. with the zoom in and out function

select the print option and eith print it as many times as you need or - if you want to put a couple on a page to save paper - do a print screen then open MS Paint(or any other graphics package - I personally find this the best for this simple operation), press Ctrl V to Paste, use the crop tool (second icon on the tool bar) cut out the pic of the map, Ctrl X to cut, open a new page and Ctrl V to Paste. Save as you chosen title (I would select a jPeg format as well for ease), then you can use it as any other image file

If you need clarifaction, just ask smile.gif

When I have made maps, I've just used Google maps or whereis, copied and pasted the map into Publisher. Then, in Publisher using the squiggly line tool, I've drawn over all the main and semi main roads on the map and then made each line thicker to represent the main roads. Then just using text boxes and little pictures added in suburbs, road names etc then delete the first map.
