Some of my best memories are from concerts

Nothing better than seeing your favourite band / artist live!
My standout moments:
- BDO 2000. Blink 182, Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Nine Inch Nails, what more could you possibly ask for? It was 40 degrees, I had to throw out my socks because they got ruined, one of my toenails got so crushed (through big boots!) that it's never been the same, I bled from 3 places. It was blissful madness!
- Being lifted onto some guy's shoulders when Greenday played my favourite song of theirs (She) at Rock-it
- A Shihad gig, I lost my friends and this group of bikie guys formed a circle around me so I wouldn't get squashed, they let me mosh into them and go nuts and then threw me up and I crowdsurfed all the way to the front. So much fun!
- The Snow Patrol gig last year. Every song they played was perfect, they're one of the best live bands I've ever seen
- Seeing Rage Against the Machine at the BDO!
- Dancing like a crazy person to Crystal Method

I have only been to 4 concerts. Kylie Minogue, Live, Robbie Williams and Bon Jovi.
All very differeng but I don't think I can split Robbie and Bon Jovi. Singing to Angels with one crowd and Livin' on a Prayer are highlights

- My First mosh pit concert, I was 12-13 it was at the local Youth Centre Superheist & Sick Puppies, I ended up with a broken toe, i got kicked in the collar bone by a crowd surfer and elbowed in the face, i came out of it all black and blue, it was so much fun!
- My first big day out - 2002 seeing Silverchair, Garbage, Something For Kate, Griners etc. The atmosphere was amazing, i'd never experienced anything like it, i got crushed up against the barricade when silverchair was playing, i was in so much pain but nothing was going to stop me from seeing my favourite band. I was 15 and it was so much fun, I have been every year since except this year because i'd only just given birth a few weeks earlier, I can't wait for the day when I can take Koby to the BDO
- Across the Great Divide Tour - Silverchair & Powderfinger, I was 8 months pregnant, singing along to every single song and having Koby kicking along to the music, it was amazing. Sometimes now Koby will sit in my lap and we'll watch the DVD of the show and he loves it. I love it that i've passed on my music tastes to my son.

The Bon Jovi concert earlier this year. Not a stand out moment as the whole concert was fantastic!!
A stand out moment at a concert would be the last Dixie Chicks concert, when they sang I'm Not Ready to Make Nice. It was so powerful, I had to wipe away tears from my eyes!

Oh I love concert moments that make you cry! When I saw Ben Folds play with a symphony orchestra and do The Luckiest I cried and decided it had to be my song for walking down the aisle

The most amazing concert i have been to was Lee Scratch Perry. In his 70's and still amazing, my friend and i spent the entire time at the front of the stage at one point he came up and shook our hands

- Bon Jovi concert earlier this year. I dont think I've ever danced and sung so much at a concert before
- Justin Timberlake Justified Tour - We had seats right near the side of the stage and spent the majority of the time looking at Cameron Diaz who was at the side of the stage. JT and Cam kept stealing looks at each other and she was blowing him kisses in the songs. It was so cute. Not a music moment really, but it was quiet cool to see.
- BDO 2004 - Seeing Metallica play in the middle of a thunderstorm. I dont even really like Metallica but it is something I'll always remember.

The Lenny Kravitz concert at Rod Laver - we all kept getting told off for dancing on the seats but the last encore was of course "Are you gonna go my way?" Incredible to see a whole stadium get to their feet, jump on their seat and simultaneously head bang. It was like one giant mexican wave of heads!
The Billy Joel / Elton John concert - so massive it filled the MCG. There will never be another concert with such talented musicians together. The way they duelled each other on piano trying to outdo one another. The way Elton played Billy's forbidden Uptown Girl and Billy played Elton's forbidden Candle in the Wind. Spectacular!
Going to a smaller university I got the opportunity to see the likes of Powderfinger, The 'Gurg (regurgitator), Rebecca's Empire, Something for Kate, Boom Crash Opera, Hoodoo Gurus, The Badloves all really close-up. Literally front row.
The Falls festival was also a highlight: REM members, Grinners, 'Gurg again, Alex Lloyd, John Butler Trio, 28 Days, Paul Kelly, George, Groove Terminator, Resin Dogs etc. etc. Not so much a concert as a temporary lifestyle you take on for a few days.

Stand outs for me:
Pearl Jam concert at the end of 2006 - when they played/sang "Black" the entire crowd was singing the "doo de doo doo doo de doo" 's at the end of it, and when the band stopped playing and Eddie stopped singing, the crowd continued with the doo de doo doo doo de doo for about another 30 seconds. The look on Eddie's face was priceless and I think it bought a tear to my eye!
Linkin Park last year singing a piano version of "Pushing me away". BEST. VERSION. EVER.
The crowd was belting it out along with Chester and it was one of the most awesome experiences

Regina Spektor at The Tivolli was one of the last concerts I went to, she was amazing live, it was such a great venue for her show.

I think my most favourite concert experience was U2 Zooropa Tour, I was 50m away from the front of the stage. Nothing can top that one.
Others I've been to....
John Mellancamp in 89/90's
Phil Collins - awesome - in 90's
Billy Joel - 89?
BDO & Homebake in 99/2000
Michael Jackson
Rolling Stones
Bjork
Robbie Williams
I think that's about it. Went mostly in the 90's.
U2 is the best though, nothing could beat it.

edit.... ooops forgot about Human Nature - that was pretty good

I know a lot of people can't stand Kanye West but his Sydney Opera House concert with a live Symphony Orchestra was quite an experience.
That and BoyzIIMen 2007 Sydney concert. I was right in front and I got a rose from Nate, OMG, OMG!!! Hubby wasn't impressed that I was accepting a rose from another man a month before our wedding

I think I was at that concert! Hubby and I were singing our hearts out!
My stand outs include the above and:
- Sigur Ros at the Enmore Theatre. I cried, I lost time, I was transported. It's a whole body experience
- Jewel at the Opera House. Just her and a guitar, it blew me away.
- Rufus Wainright at the Basement. He's so immensely talented and hilarious to boot.
- I saw Alannis Morrisette play in a boardroom to 20 people years ago at work. She is so clear and beautiful in real life and that VOICE! My God! It was when Hands Clean had been released and I still love that song
- Nelly at Homebush. I just love him.
geez, my music tastes are eclectic when I look at it like that!

Eurythmics - Annie Lennox is a goddess and just gets better with age.
Prince - I went twice and each concert was a bit different, he seemed to 'tailor' his performances to his audience and their reactions/feedback, and I was surprised at how much sexier he is in real life!
Bette Midler - not just an incredible voice, but a wonderful comedian (she had us in fits of laughter all through). It was like a musical and stand up rolled into one and the sets were superb.
I would go to see any of these performers again in a heartbeat.

I've only ever been to 3 major artist concerts and they were all awesome in their own right.
Saw Jamiroquai back in 2003 (rod laver) (?) he was awesome!!!! He really got into the show and was jumping all over the stage and it was just spectacular.
Saw Dido in Melbourne, Life for rent tour (rod laver again) she was also awesome, I just love her voice and it was such a fantastic performance, even though she forgot the words at one point, the audience just lauged it off. I would definately see her again.
Weird Al Yankovic, Straight Outta Lynwood tour 2007, despite the concert starting at least two hours late and half the audience giving up and leaving in disgust, it was a good concert in the end, all the bells and whistles, a huge medley and some really funny moments.
As for a lesser known band, I always try and catch Tripod during the comedy festival or durinng pod August nights and I've never been disappointed.

- Front row at Hilltop Hoods, getting a hug from Suffa!
- Angus & Julia Stone at 2007 Falls Festival, so amazingly perfect. Actually, so were The Waifs and Claire Bowditch.
- Mattaffix, also at Falls 2007, such a fantastic performer, one of the most perfect moments I have had with hubby.
- Pink in Sydney last year, she is amazing, love her to bits.
- Missy Higgins and Ben Lee at A Day on the Green
- Chris Isaak...

- The whole crowd bouncing at The Herd concert at the local uni
- Hoodoo Gurus at Falls '06, had the best time in the front row with one of my friends.

I saw Tripod before they got 'big'. I will never forget the comedy gig they did where they mixed everyone's songs together - like Aqua's Barbie Girl to a slow song and mixed all of Oasis' songs together to make one song. They are so highly underrated in Australia, they are an amazing talent.

Best ever moment by a long shot would be at one of the open air music festivals , Summerfieldayze, when Tiesto played 'Silence' while we danced in the pouring rain. In was magical, the music, the crowd, and whole atmosphere just gelled perfectly.

The Foo Fighters earlier this year - acoustic version of My Hero - waves and waves of goosebumps. And I funally got to hear Everlong live
Metallica in 2004 at the Myer Music Bowl - just as the opening guitar strains of 'One' were played, it starts raining lightly, and as it got into the heavy part, so did the rain. Awesome moshing and very muddy on the way out!
Bowie in 2004 - Playing Heroes. Beautiful

Pearl Jam at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, 1995. I was 16...
I remember turning around and seeing the fence being torn down and hundreds of people from the outside running in! It was an awesome, awesome concert, I am so glad I went!

Oh god there have been some beauties:
George Benson at Royal Albert Hall in London. I went on my own, none of my friends had heard of him, but I'm an old fart. He was fantastic.
Counting Crows at Royal Albert Hall. Three of us shared two bottles of champers that night and sneaked it into the venue. Such a cool night.
Weddings Parties Anything at Roebourne Races in North West WA. Cracking night.
Roachford at The Jazz Club, Camden London. I went on my own again but made a few million friends that night. Very small and intimate venue.
Coldplay with my husband at Sydney Entertainment Centre, one of the best live acts for a while.
Any time I have seen Pearl Jam I've left with a fuller heart.
Last year I saw Pink in concert at Sydney Entertainment Centre. I've been a huge fan since.

My two from the last 18 months were:
1. Crowded House - I just loved every single minute of it. I even shed a few tears along the way.
2. Josh Pyke at this tiny little place called the Palais in Hepburn Springs. It was so intimate - felt like you were sitting around the living room with friends while a good mate played amazing music.
- Seeing our favourite band HIM this year. They played my favourite song which I was so happy about, and I was also 12 weeks pregnant and so happy to share the music with the baby.
- Andrea Bocelli and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Just beautiful.
