Just saw a story on Sunrise... as California has only this month legalised same sex marriage equality, there obvioulsy was a queue to be the first.
Anyway George Takai (sp?) who played Sulu in Start Trek and his partner were the first celebrity couple to get their marriage liscence and will be getting married in September.
Of course the couple were "Beaming" and they hope their marriage will "live long and prosper" and the wedding isnt the "Final Frontier". Good on them for getting in first on all the Star Trek Jokes, although Andrew did make a comment on hoping that there isnt a "thruster malfunction" which was pretty funny.
It just made me so happy watching the couple who have been together for 21 years! Finally they can celebrate their relationship in a way I take for granted. I am so happy for them, and all the other couples who can finally have their longstanding love and committment equally recognised by the state.
