Hey everyone.

I was hopeing to have a lamington cake for my wedding. What i want to do is have a round lamington cake on the top tier and then have individual lamingtons on the rest of the tiers. Its a bit like a cupcake cake one but with lamingtons instead of cupcakes.

What i want to know is if there is anyplaces that do these types of cakes in Sydney? Also i would like a recipe for lamingtons as im thinking of having a go at it myself.

Oh yeah, just one more thing, i wanted to know if anyone had a picture of the type of cake i was wanting as i was trying to explain it to my FH last night and he didnt quite understand what i was talking about. I googled it quickly but couldnt really find anything.

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I love the idea. Try here cake

I got my cupcake tower from them but they are known for their lamington cakes as well

Here is a pic of their site - I am sure they could do round as well, and they do also do normal chocolate ones, I just love these colours:

Oh yum!!! I would love to have a lamington cake (but we are serving the cake as dessert so I feel like I have to go with a safer option).

We are having lamingtons... but we are just stacking them and cutting one at the top.

Here is my inspiration

But we are having all chocolate.

I have just ordered them from the bakery near us and are using a cake board. Only costing $1 each.

We are also having a lamington cake stack. I wanted to order them from My Little Cupcake in Sydney - the pic that bats posted but we couldnt get them delivered interstate without costing us a fortune.

We found a great local bakery that is going to make the lamingtons and colour them for us.

A couple of pointers that we were told...the heavier they are the harder they are to stack so if you want real lamingtons, best to make them with sponge (the my little cupcake ones are made with a heavier mix). Also, we were told not to cut them in half, as we wanted some with jam, as they will tend to seperate and slide over a few hours. One last thing, the ones in the pic above have a cream frosting on them which mkaes them a bit tricky to eat. Most bakeries colour their lamingtons with a gelatine mix which makes them non sticky but you still have the sweet taste and great colours.

That would have been a good enough reason for me to have one!! LOL

I love the look of the cake. I have noted it down as an idea for me.
