Okay, it's that time of year again, when we get to update each other on our situation and whether we're still 'happily committed' or have become engaged, married or (I hope this isn't true for anyone) broken up.
I'll start since I think I'm the longest standing member of this section.
I'm still here obviously, but engagement and marriage is something of a low priority right now as we are travelling. It's been a really growing stage for our relationship, with lots of new experiences, including officially living together for the first time.
We were lying in bed the other night when Andrew says to me "If there's somewhere we really want to go and we can't fit it in this trip, like Greece, we can always make it our honeymoon destination" Okay, then...

I'm still here, it was 2 years back in november 07 for us, not sure if marraige is anytime soon, but we've been through a rough couple of months and managed to stay together so fingers crossed 08 is looking better.

Was with my ex for 3yrs and we broke up last March. I thought my life was over (ok, a little dramatic I know) but 5mths later I found someone new and we have now been together nearly 6mths now.
After a good couple of months of me trying to sabotage my own relationship things are now going great, he told me loved me on the weekend and it looks like no amount of self sabotage is going to be enough to drive him away hehehe. He's a keeper.

I feel lonely here as I don't belong to any particular group, really.

We were engaged in December 06 - so it's been a good 14 months now and initially I bought out every newsagent's wedding magazine stock and couldn't keep away from the wedding section on i-do, nor was I able to control myself and stop blabbering to people about 'my' wedding, but it has finally dawned upon me that it really 'is' all too far away, (just like everyone has said). We were initially wanting a 2010 wedding, but priorities have now changed and it's looking like 2012.

In some ways I'm ok with it - in other ways, I find it depressing to wait so long. My greatest fear is that I have absolutely every colour, theme, detail and supplier picked out and I refuse to compromise on any of them - I worry that none of them will even be around in 5 years - especially my beloved venue.

What a 'poor me' post this has turned in to. Apologies, gals !

I understand where you are coming from!! Initially when Steve and I started talking about getting engaged and getting married etc I thought "soon" meant in the next few months ..lol But I had to realise that I was rushing it ( we have only been together 2 years now... and less at that point) and that Steve's idea of soon was in the next few years!

I was pretty upset by that at the time but I just have to live with it!!! And hopefully by the time it does happen all the things I like and want will still be around (fingers crossed)!

I'm over the whole 'must get married now' because we both wanted a rather long engagement but i just don't want it to finally come time and everything I want is no longer. I have terrible nightmares that, due to global warming, all of Sydney Harbour will be underwater in 5 years!

Oh, well - we'll just have to build rafts, i guess....

OK so i thought i'd post here since i signed up a few weeks ago but haven't posted anywhere!!

I've been with my bf for 6.5 years, lived together for 2.5 of those and owned a house together for nearly 1.5 now.

I have an engagement ring (my great grandmothers) and even a dress if i wanted as my SIL offered hers to me haha. So yeah just waiting for my boy to get his ass together and ask me already lol.

A small update for me: My partner of four years (living together for two), has been saying for the last few months, that when he changed jobs we would get engaged.

Well, he found a new job yesterday, which is a little bit of hope for me. Though, I know he needs to save money for a ring, I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed!

We were talking about stuff the other night, as you do , and I was saying that I'm not letting go of him and that all his ex-girlfriends are silliy for letting him go because he's so wonderful He agreed, then said that it didn't matter because he'd found the one he was going to .... We both know it'll happen but it's still very much early days ... It's hard to believe we've been together such a short time sometimes!!

Our 5 year old has been demanding a baby sister and a wedding for the last few months, and has finally got daddy to agree with her So hopefully it will be all on soon, especially considering I have big plans of getting married on Feb 28 next year because it is 28 years to the day since my own parents got married.

I am on the list for 08. My background is similiar to Belindak's. Broke up with ex back July 06. Met my new man in May 07, moved in with him late oct-07 and still going strong...

I was never on the 2007 list, but...

I'm halfway engaged if that makes sense. My partner and I have agreed to buy a decent sized house before getting married, so he won't officially propose until (a ) We know that we can buy the house or finish building the house at a minimum of 12 months before the wedding, preferable 18 months so save us from extra stress, and (b ) The wedding must be able to happen at a maximum of 2 years after the engagement so we're not over it. However, we both consider ourselves engaged and are already forming plans before the house plans lol.

So yeah, halfway engaged. Does that mean I count for the list?
