Just curious to know who people used as their MC? Were still tossing up between having someone we know do it or hiring a professional.

We would love for someone we know to do it to give it a more personal touch but we can't think of anyone who loves doing that kind of stuff and would not want them stressing them out about it the whole night and not enjoying the night.

A professional seems like a good idea IF you get a good one with a good sense of humour so it leaves everyone to enjoy the night. Also anyone with any horror stories of hiring a professional MC?

We're having H2B's cousin. He loves to talk and be the center of attention and was a bit miffed at being left out of the bridal party, so this makes up for that!

We chose one of H2B's good friends who isn't in the bridal party. But then I found out that our venue supplies us with one so now we have 2! Oops..

My sister had a professional one that came with her venue which I must admit I turned my nose up at initially but he was EXCEPTIONAL - everyone commented on how well he did the job - it was quite funny because everyone thought he must be a family member he had so many anecdotal stories he had collected from my parents in the lead up to the wedding.

We have asked our friend who is very charismatic and works in radio to do the job - just hoping he is going to be able to reign in some of the unruly oldsters on my H2B side if they get going unsure.gif

But he is a great public speaker and a muso so he is used to performing

We will be having my Sisters Husband as MC, we are very close to them both & we know he will be fantastic. He is great at public speaking & he knows us really well... I feel really lucky to have him as our M/C.

My Sister is my MOH so it will be nice Having both my sister & her husband involved on the day!

We didn't want to pick any of our friends and family as we wanted them all to have a great time and just sit back, have a few drinks and enjoy the event without having to stress out.
We decided to make use of the professional entertainer who is provided by our venue. He entertains there every weekend and we've seen him perform a few times (and spent quite a while talking to him during the Gold Coast cruise to the island which he also does the commentary for every day). We're confident he'll do a great job.

We used our groomsmaids husband as MC.... he was fabulous because he's always been a real talker and doesnt mind being the centre of attention. The only problem was leading up to the wedding he was really stressed with his business and was super tired on the night - none of the guests realised but we could tell....

I can see the pluses and minuses to having a professional MC - and at least you're not putting any of your guests out if you hire one - and one would think they would be full of energy and funny jokes all night.

We are having my sister's husband (who isn't part of our bridal party). He introduced me to H2B. He knows both of us very well, so he should have some good stories to tell.

My little brother is also doing ours...he's a great public speaker and it also means he can be involved in our wedding seeing as he's not in the bridal party.

We are having my Uncle Mick!

He is married to my mums sister and I love him to death! He and H2B get on really well and everyone is guaranteed to be laughing their asses off all night!

We asked him back in August towards the end of the night at my sisters wedding, he was telling us how excited he was that we were getting married and as H2B and i had already decided to ask him, we thought it would be a perfect time to bring it up....He was so happy when we asked him he got tears in his eyes! He promised me that he would behave until all the offical duties were over and then he would start drinking, he tends to drink a fair bit but is allway the life of the party, oh and he also promised me that he wouldn't stip and go streaking like he did at his own wedding!

we used a friend of the family who had known Paul for a very very long time - that was the problem - even though Paul and I had been together for 3 years when we got married he hadnt met any of the poeple i grew up around or alot of my family so we couldnt use anyone from then. I had known Glen for that amount of time too but I loved the fact that he bought up my dads very very best friend and my FIL best friend to each do a speech about us and our dads (our dads didnt have a clue it was happening and neither did we)...... He is almost 6f8 i think and can bench press 250kg (is the aust champion - or was last time i checked) so I was guaranteed that there would be no trouble at my wedding...LOL tongue.gif

hi jenny,

I didnt vote as i am thinking this exact same thing today!!
all i seem to find via websites is broken links, websites that havent been updated since 1997 or cheeseball MC's from god knows when

there are alot of websites that tell novices/friends what an MC is expected to do...might go that route...but who to have??

good luck
trish
