Greetings to all, i'm not going to be a bride, because i shall be the groom smile.gif
But i thought i would post here anyway.

I had my beautiful fiancés engagement ring custom made, and i had the wedding ring custom made to fit with the engagement ring, sounds simple enough doesn't it ?

It was bad enough when they said they would need the engagement ring for a few weeks, so they could make sure they would fit together properly, my beautiful fiancé wasn't really thrilled about that, but knew it was for a good cause smile.gif

2 weeks after when the ring was due back mad.gif
I finally got a call from them that the wedding ring was ready, BUT, they had sent the engagement ring to a different jeweller to get it cleaned huh.gif and during the process, they somehow managed to lose 2 of the stones from the ring huh.gif
Can you imagine how i felt, and how my beautiful fiancé felt when i told her the engagement ring had been damaged, i thought she would slap 'em one.
They offered to replace the stones, but that's not the point, it's not the stones, it's the sentiment behind the ring, it wouldn't be the same with different stones in it sad.gif

After speaking to a few people at the store, and insisting they do more to find the original stones, it seems we have success, the stones have been found and the ring will be ready in a few days, several weeks after it was left in thier care mad.gif .

I very much doubt i would ever trust the store again, how could they be so careless.

Now, i'm not sure what the rules are in here about mentioning a store where you recieved bad service, but i'm about to do that, if it's not allowed, can whoever has the power edit this post smile.gif

The store in question is Michael Hill, at Dandenong Victoria, stear clear of them.

I know what you mean about the ring not being the same without the original stones - especially since you had the ring custom made.

I would have been devistated if it was me, it was bad enough that my ring took 2 weeks to be resized and valued!

That's terrible! I'm glad they found them!

Welcome to i-do AJ - It's great to talk to a groom! smile.gif

We're in syd and had a similar problem with the chain - we asked for a quote on an engagement ring - they never called back, so we figured they didn't want our money and got the ring somewhere else.

Hi there,
I can totally understand why you are so annoyed with this particular shop. We sent my engagement ring back to be resized but due to my engagement ring being chanel set they needed my er for two weeks.
When it was finally returned to us there was large gaps between the chanel set diamonds and the gold band. WE were so angry with this as they are meant to be qualified to do this type of work which i would of thought to be standard work to re-size rings. We sent the ring back and it took a further 3 weeks for them to return it to us this time having bubbles in the band.

You trust these people with your valuable possesions for them to just shrug and tell you that these things do happen. mad.gif
All i can say is that i hope the rest of your wedding plans run smoothly and good luck for your big day
Regards

Most chains of jewellers have one jeweller or maybe two for the entire chain, and any jewellery you have adjusted etc with them will be sent to that jewller. You are often better to find an independent jeweller, with a jeweller on site so you can talk to them directly and your jwellery won't leave the store.

That's one of the strange things Daybreak, Michael Hill in Dandenong have a jeweller on site, but for work such as making a ring, it's done in brisbane Ó¿Ò, why he couldn't clean the ring i don't know, why they sent the ring to another jeweller to be cleaned is even more confusing Ó¿Ò

We got my engagement ring at the same chain which was fine at the time. But two weeks ago they rang Paul and asked him if he paid for the ring in full and did he have the reciept!! Paul was so angry and offended by this!!

We both picked up the ring together and we paid for it! He said to the guy that it was an engagement ring and as if he wouldn't paid for it!

I thought that was really bad, it's not our fault that they can't keep proper records.

We won't go back there and we got our wedding bands from another jeweller.

At least they have found all the stones from your fiances ring and once you have it back you won't need to go there ever again ohmy.gif)

hey, that's terrible. Although I must admit that we had a similar problem with that chain in Brissie as you Sarah, we wanted a quote for a ring and they never called us back so we decided that they musn't have been interested in the sale and went elsewhere.

I hope all you other wedding plans go smoothly, good luck!

Hi,

Stones should not come out of a ring when it is simply being cleaned, maybe you should take it to someone else to have the quality of their workmanship checked. You don't want to lose stones again, it means they were not set properly.

I have an antique ring and I periodically go to my jeweller to check the setting, probably every 2 years and have it checked out as I would hate to lose the stone I've had now for 10 years.

we got my er from that chain and when we went to get the wedding ring done i ask what if i didnt like what was made and i was told that it would just be to bad i would have to take it anyway ,so we went else were and they made the ring three time till it was exactly what i wanted which is what you expect when you are spending that much money.
Looks like they need to have a look at the way they run there stores.

Oh that's terrible!!!!

We got both our engagment rings and wedding bands from the MH store in Ringwood and they were FANTASTIC!!!

I'm glad they found the stones, but make sure you check the ring over with a fine tooth comb when you get it back. Make sure the stones aren't damaged and they been fitted properly so there's no chance of losing them again.

Ohh, now I am worried. Micheal Hill at Broadmeadows have my engagement ring as we speak, for the same reason. To make sure the wedding band fit.

I am meant to pick it up late this week, but now I am a bit worried. I think I might go and check to see how much longer. Oh Oh. huh.gif
