Sorry this might be long...
I would love some advice to help me decide on where to get married. Firstly, h2b is not really concerned as to where we have the wedding and has left it to me to decide (thanks honey! I have decided that I would love a beach wedding. We are from SA, and have never been to either Angsana (however have been to Palm Cove once briefly) or Daydream Island (have been to Cairns, Surfers) so I dont really know firsthand what either location has to offer. I have done a bit of research on both via the net and both look gorgeous. Anyway... We are having a small wedding, approx 40 people, just close friends and family, and most so far have said they dont mind travelling to Qld, and they'll make a holiday out of it. However, we dont want them to have to spend heaps of money on accomodation/food etc. Anyone that has ever been to, or been married at, either of these places, I would really love to hear what you thought and if you would recommend getting married there? We need to make a decision! Oh, and we are looking at this time next year to have the wedding. Thanks for reading, and in advance for your advice! Heidi xx -------------------- |

I'd go for Angsana - it's gorgeous and Palm Cove is lovely, as well as close to Cairns and Port Douglas. Daydream Island is a bit of a dodgy resort (just my opinion though!)

Hi Heidi,
we were in Palm Cove a month ago (thats where H2B proposed) and it was sensational. We saw a wedding at Angsana, we were staying next door at the Sea temple and it was just beautiful, after the cermeony all the tables were outside practically on the beach and it was the most romantic thing we had seen. There is soo much accomodation around Palm cove and even cheaper alternatives in Cairns which is 20mins away. I would definitely reccomend there. The Angsana Bar had a jazz band at the bar on the sunday we were up there and there was people everywhere having a great time dancing on the grass. great atmosphere. Daydream Island is lovely but there is only the one resort and not much choice for you or your guests in relation to accomodation and restaurants. good luck with it all. -------------------- |

I have been to Palm cove on holiday twice, and I love it to bits - the advantages are that there is lots of inexpensive perfectly nice self-catering accomodation, so that if guests can't spend much they can get their own food etc. Also it is easier to travel from Cairns airport etc.
We're going back there on our honeymoon. can't wait! -------------------- |

I have never been to Angsana but I have been to Daydream. The chapel is gorgeous with all that glass looking out over the whitsundays and the day spa is fantastic. I like the idea of an island wedding and our first choice was going to be Hayman.
On the other hand I saw Angsana on a show about destination weddings ages ago on discovery channel and it was in the top 10 places in the world - and it looked amazing. Their day spa is meant to be excellent as well. I think you could have the best of both world in Angsana and travelling guests have the best of both worlds chelley -------------------- |

We're heading up to palm cove for the first leg of our honeymoon
Angsana is gorgeous, but really pricey. If money's not an object, i'd go Angsana, but have you looked at mission beach? They've also got Dunk island (and lots of cruise boats from mb, that would hold 40 or so people Dunk island resort is GORGEOUS, the weather this time of year is fantastic if you're a southerner, it's 24degrees here and as far as prices go, dunk island is pretty competitive, and has lots of watersports, spa & stuff too |
