Sorry to hijack but what are these "wetbags" y'all keep referring to?! Does anyone have a link? I think I want one whatever it is
For Jackson, I had a nappy bag, just a regular old black Target one which worked well, and was definitely unisex, so DH could use it too if needed. Then I bought a Thomas backpack for him, and we've been using that till recently (the only bag I took out, I just threw my wallet and phone into the backpack) but have since swapped to a handbag. I guess it's easier with a toddler, as it has 2 big compartments, one is his and all I take out is a nappy, nappy bag and wipes, couple of toys, water bottle and a couple of snacks. Might have to revert back to the nappy bag when bubs arrives but there is HEAPS of spare room in my new handbag so am hoping to get away with just using that! -------------------- |

So I am wondering what kind of nappy bag you have? Did you splurge or did someone treat you to a designer bag? What style do you have? If you are a baby wearer I would be particularly keen on what style you have eg handbag style or satchel or backpack. Do you and hubby share the same bag. thanks I had a messenger style one with Cate which I hated. It was a push to fit everything in and I felt like I had to dump the whole thing out if I wanted to find anything. I also struggled to baby wear and carry the bag. When pregnant with Seamus I bought a cheap backpack style one from Big W...the brand is BabyGear I think. It was around $50 and has been brilliant. I baby wear (ergo) and the back pack style is THE way to go as it balances you out and still leaves you hands free (hands free is my number one requirement with two kids I have never understood the "spend a bazillion dollars on a nappy bag" thing. I agree with the others that, as soon as you can, you reve to a normal handbag anyways. A gf has this HUGE nappy bag that is very funky and very designer and cost her a fortune but it is so huge it's completely impractical. -------------------- |

ok when i was pregnant with Aidan, my MIL bought me an OI OI bag for my baby shower present, we found it on ebay.I loved it but once he got to around 1 and i was taking less out with me (no more bottles, only one nappy instead of a gazillion) i went and got a cheap side handbag and put mine and all his stuff in together, i bough a b.box and used that it was fantastic. When Chloe came along i went back to my oi oi bag as i was back to carrying a gazillion nappies, bottles etc. The for my birthday in April i found Vanchi nappy bags on deals direct for $50 and persuaded my DH to buy me one for my birthday present so got rid of OI OI bag, the Vanchi has been fantastic but now i am back to carry limited things around as Chloe is now nearly 16 months. So just yesterday i bought a Tinkerbell backpack(on special) and am using that with my b.box again. I also bought an insulated bag kit (Smash ones from big W also on special) which i pop the kids snacks into and chuck that in the back pack. So much easier, i got the idea from a couple of the girls in my mothers group, though they all seem to have jumped on the insulated bag wagon way before me lol. The Vanchi has been put away for now but once we go back for number 3 it will be back out again.

Just letting you know that there are some nappy bags on special here at the moment. Some quite heavily discounted.

Have been watching this thread
I started off with a beach bag (large enough for day-use) and then bought a Target-brand messenger-style one when DD was about 6 months old or so, which I've used since. But I don't really like it, the compartments are a bit hard to use (they zip up the sides so are constantly unzipping on their own, or are too small) and it only has one large compartment on the inside, so I always have to dig around to find what I need. BUT - I also don't really like any other type of bag (actual nappy bag or large handbag) that I've seen around, and I've been looking for ages. Not a fan of the back-pack ones, either, even though I babywear most of the time. Either the bag itself seems impractical to me, or I don't like the style/pattern of the outside, or it's just too bloody expensive that no way would I spend that on a handbag, let alone a nappy-bag I think what I want doesn't really exist - I want a bag that's the size of a handbag, that's nice and suites me, but with magical Mary Poppins properties so I can always have everything I need inside |

First time round I used cheap nappy bags - I went through 3 in about 2 years. They were useful but not really pretty. After the age of two I just bought a kids back pack as that was easiest for carrying round her things and also for drop offs at others houses.
This time round I wanted a nice looking bag that was big enough for the babie's, Abby's and my things. So I went looking. Found a beautiful Fossil weekender bag that was big and sturdy - has short and long straps so I can hang it over the pram. Its pink so hubby doesn't like taking it out but does as we have two girls its obviously theirs. The only concern was the price - its was $250 and I just couldn't justify it - thankfully my friend in Melbourne was able to get it from the factory outlet for $75 - I was so happy. Still going strong. I will probably move to a smaller bag in 12 months time but for now its a keeper. -------------------- |
