I am thinking for this pregnancy I may update from my old Isoki nappy bag. It was a great size but was a bit big, awkward when I wanted to wear Raya in the Ergo a lot and almost overbalanced the Quinny pram I have.

So I have been looking in pregnancy magazines and am shocked at how expensive some of the designer brands are - I am guessing because they are leather.

So I am wondering what kind of nappy bag you have? Did you splurge or did someone treat you to a designer bag?

What style do you have?

If you are a baby wearer I would be particularly keen on what style you have eg handbag style or satchel or backpack.

Do you and hubby share the same bag.

thanks

I don't like the look of the plasticy cheap nappy bags and there was no way I was going to spend $200+ on a nappy bag so I just reused a leather satchel I already had. It's got a couple of cool pockets on the front with big buckles and is roomy enough for a couple of nappies, wipes, a change of clothes and my purse, keys etc. My co-workers laughed at me when I said I was going to use a big handbag. rolleyes.gif If I didn't own a big handbag, I'd still buy one over a nappy bag.

ETA: I'm not a baby wearer, but I'd probably go down the back pack route if I was.

Also DH uses the nappy bag as it's always stocked so he just needs to grab a bottle and go. It's black leather so he has no problems slinging it over his shoulder as it's not obviously girly.

I bought the Gr8x baby traveler diaper bag for baby #2 http://gr8x.net/_product_88/Baby_Traveller%C2%AE_Diaper_Bag. It was $99 plus I spent an extra $14.95 on a spare change mat, but it looks so versatile. I can be worn backpack style, hang off the pram, be worn over one shoulder, and I just love that it has a change mat in built. The change mat was the first thing we lost with DS's nappy bag and the change stations in shopping centers are crawling with who knows what! I haven't used it yet, but it has stacks of handy little pockets for nappies, cream, wipes etc. as well as an insulated bottle holder. I did originally hesitate at spending $114 on a nappy bag, but it comes with a 2 year warranty, so it should last.

I have a Vanchi Tote. It looks like a regular handbag which is what I was after but it also has lots of compartments which is what I was after as well.

It is quite big but with 2 still in cloth I need a big bag. I currently sling Finn most of the time and it doesn't annoy me carrying the bag as well.

The RRP of mine is quite pricey at $175, but I picked mine up from dailybabybuys.com.au for $60 and they regularly have Vanchi nappy bags on sale.

I was using my handbag as a nappy bag with DS. I couldn't resist with all the sales going on so I bought this bag in red. Great website, shipping is a flat rate $10, or free if you spend over $100 (so I bought a pair of shoes biggrin.gif).

It's pretty nifty as it has these velcro straps you use to secure onto your pram, so it doesn't dangle as much.

I've seen the bag at shops here and it retails for $99.

I'll see how I go with it, but if all else fails, I plan to use a large tote or something.

I have a medium sized handbag most of the time, I keep things in ziplock bags to keep them together and have a large wetbag for the pram/car with extra nappies etc. I also have a vanchi bag for big days where I'll be away from car, it is great and I can fit everything in it but most of the stuff is for the toddler not the baby.

If you are baby wearing plus toddler I'd get a zip up handbag or nappybag a backpack, I dont find my handbag a problem but am thinking about a backpack instead of the vanchi as our double pram doesnt really have anywhere to store a nappy bag.

DH has a separate nappy bag but can fill by grabbing the bags from my handbag quickly and easily

I used to wear Charlie in a sling in the early days and had a satchel type bag - but it was one that I could wear across my body IYKWIM - like a sash. It had a pocket for mobile phone on the strap so that was easy access.

To be honest I he never spent hgue amounts on a nappy bag and I didn't even use one for long with Charlie - maybe 3 or 4 months. After that I just used my handbag - which was quite big. If we were going for a major trip I would take the nappy bag but otherwise all I needed was a few nappy changes and change of clothes for each child and a water bottle and snacks for Cate. oh and a spew rag wipes.

So I am glad I didn't spend much as it really didn't get that much use.

Now that Tom is a bit older and doesn't require so much, I've been using my handbag. Only problem is, lately he likes to spit his water out everywhere and I don't have room for a change of clothes! Other than that, we also have a backpack nappy bag that Mum got us, which hubby takes when he goes out with Tom. It's more manly than the over shoulder tote thing I had prior!

I bought an Oroton messenger style bag this time, on a massive, massive special. I hang it over the pram, but it's still okay to carry if I have her in the Ergo. It's big enough to have my wallet, glasses etc, and bits and pieces for both kids.

We got a free Strider Plus messenger-style one with a Practical Parenting subscription. It's great and roomy and lots of pockets and compartments and very unisex so fine for Simon to have. It is big though, and didn't easily fit in the bottom basket (admittedly quite small) of our Bugaboo Bee, so when we went overseas we just bought a cheap khaki satchel type bag, which can hold little amounts, or big amounts, and which we've used every since!

We have a few wetbags in there for nappies or if anything gets on clothes - front pockets are used for emergency pouches of food and snacks and spoons etc., the laptop compartment is for emergency disposables and everything else gets piled in the middle but we find everything all the time biggrin.gif

This is going to sound really povo, but at the moment I am using a bounty bag for my toddler! blush.gif

In saying that when we were overseas, I used a baby $herpa, which was great, although a bit big for our needs. I often found it easier to throw a few things into an enviro-bag.

I would like to get her a little backpack for her snacks, hat, spare clothes, etc, but it isn't in our budget at the moment.

When she was a baby we just used a large beach-style tote with inside pockets. DH had no problem using it as it was just a navy blue canvas type thing.

Good luck deciding!

I wasn't overly keen on a designated nappy bag, and decided to buy a lovely handbag and use that. I brought a large Oroton tote and have put two wetbags in it. One holds a spare set of clothes/hat/bib, the other nappies, change mat. I find it really useful, as if I go out with eliza I just remove the two wetbags and off I go.

Hubby uses a Crumpler computer satchel as a nappy bag when he goes out with Eliza.

For number one I used a day bag from Sportsgirl with a pouch miss (bag organiser) in the middle. Worked great, had little pockets on the outside for my keys etc.

Then when he was older I would just take my regular handbag with a nappy and wetwipes in it. Then about 5 weeks before bubs two was due the handle on my Sportsgirl one broke. So I went in search of another bag, this time I decided to get an actual nappy bag. There isnt a big range where I live and I wanted to see it before buying. Basically it was either cheap or insanely expensive. So I went with a JJ Cole one that I got on sale for $60. Then after using it for 3 weeks with DD a clip on the strap broke and I couldn't use it so returned it. I needed a bag straight away so in the end I got a Target one on sale for $35, becuase I didnt like any others I had seen. The idea was to upgrade when I find a better one, but TBH Im not sure when I will be bothered to do so.

My main thing for me with this bag was that I wanted to be able to put my wallet, keys and phone seperate to all the kids things. And this one I can do that.
