Hi, wondering if anyone can help me please....does anyone know where the shop in Melbourne is that sells the J'aton fabric? I'm after that one that is like a lace with the large dimontes in it, like Ada Nicodemou's dress. I've been toa dress maker that has said she can get the material as there is a shop somewhere in Melbourne where it can be purchased from....just not confident with this particular dress maker. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

They source their fabrics and they are hand-beaded etc. to create one-off couture pieces. - So unfortunately, you'll never get a dress that looks like Ada's dress. -------------------- -- Parenting Really Badly Since 2004 -- Bottle-Fed Used Disposable Nappies Let him co-sleep with us until he was 4 Gives him food with Artificial Colours & Flavours every now and then |

Hi, thanks for the reply, however I don't think you are correct. I have found 2 other dress makers on Glenferrie Road, Malvern that use the same material in some of their dresses so it's not purely a J'aton fabric. I have asked these dress makers to make the style I am after, but they won't as it's not 'their style' of dress. Doesn't have to be the exact same material....but after something similar. |

J"Aton source a lot of their fabric exclusively, and a lot of it is from overseas, thats part of the reasons their gowns are sooo expensive. I can however recommend some good fabric stores in Melbourne.
You could try Blooms in Lygon St, (however Im not 100% sure if they are still there- I heard something about them either moving or closing). Franke Stuart in Glenferie Rd Malvern- they have a large range of bridal fabrics. You could also try Silkworld I think they are in Collingwood and Clegs in lygon st or the city. If you are having a dressmaker make your gown, let them source the fabric for you. Thats what you are paying for, and they have access to wholesalers that you would not be able to buy from. |
