Photos on locations...
Hi all, I'm trying to pick my wedding photos location and organise the day itinerary but am so clueless as to how long I should allow for photos and how many location etc. So please help me

For you married ladies, How many location did you go to? How long did you spend on each location for photos? Was it enough to nail all the shots you wanted? Or did you wish you had more time or was it too long? Please do not include travel time.

And for you 'brides-to-be's, How many location did you go to? How long will you allow for photos on each location? Please do not include travel time.

Thank you

Our photos will all be at the venue we are marrying at, it's such a beautiful place we don't need to travel anywhere else. We've allowed an hour for photos while guests are being served drinks and canapes.

If you have booked a photographer, I would suggest speaking to them. They should know great locations in your area and be able to give you advice on how much time to allow.

Two other weddings that my H2b has been a groomsman in have taken around 1.5 hours and have only used on site seperate to the wedding ceremony venue.

Hope that helps.

I think 1.5 is a good average to go by if the location isnt too far from your venue.

Our one location is, so we're doing a few shots before the ceremony (~30 min) , and then we've also allocated 1.5 hours after the ceremony before the reception for photos. Keeping in mind that most photographers have mentioned to me that they'll do 15-30 min of family / friend shots after the ceremony anyway, so for example:

Church: 3-4pm
Family photos: 4-4:20
Location shots: 4:30 - 6pm
Reception : 6:15pm or whatever

For the actual locations - only 2, was going to be 3 but photographer said she got everything already so we didn't bother - around 2 hrs ish. We had lots getting ready (bride and groom) and after at church for family

We had around 1 1/2 hours to get our shots, and we had about 10 minutes at the end to spare to have a breather before being introduced smile.gif
We did stay at the same location as the ceremony and reception (Vineyard) so that was helpful aswell

We also go some shots of us girls getting ready so I had some with my folks and grandparents then

Im a pro and I always ask my couples to allow 2hrs.

Given that the ceremony always runs over, congrats are hard to get away from and always take longer than expected.

A good example is 3pm ceremony and 6pm reception. If located close to each other.

Location shots in my opinion are the most important, the ones u are going to hang on your wall more than likely. Dont scrimp on the time for them u might miss out on your favourite shot!

ceremony 2:30-3:10 (won't actually start til 2:45)
photos 3:10-4:30
drive 4:30-5:30
photos 5:30-6:30
reception 6:30
