Hi,
I have had this picture for a while. The colour on the bottom of the flower girl's dress is the colour I want. I will also be having orange (in flowers and ribbons etc.).

My problem is, I don't know what to call this colour when people ask. Taupe? Mushroom? Coffee? Mocca? Beige?

What do you think?
Thanks in advance for any help.

I think i would call it mushroom? - it's not quite dark enough for mocha and too dark for beige.

It's lovely - and i love how it looks with the orange

I would call it taupe. I think mushroom has a bit more pink to it.

I'd go to the hardware store and match the colour in the pic to a colour chip. It will give you a name and will also provide you with a sample to explain the colour to everyone.

I suspect that colour has 4 or 5 different names. We repainted recently and we looked at a colour like that and every brand called it something different@

Thanks for your help. You can obviously see why I've been having the problem! I have looked in the hardware store but they do come in all different names. My next step is to go to the fabric shop and see what colours the fabric comes in (chiffon for BM dresses).
Thanks again.

I would prob call it latte.

I think the idea of getting a colour sample from the paint section is a great idea. Of course you need to find your colour swatch of fabric too, and once oyu have that you can carry that around in tyour purse to show anyone you need to. I kept the swatch of my BM fabric in my purse for years after my wedding hehehehe.

I'd call it latte...

Perhaps take in the picture of the flower girl pic you showed us (that little dress is so cute)?

Great! Thanks for the positive comments. This is the picture that made me decide on this colour. Originally it was going to the charcoal and orange, but I liked this better.

Latte it is! Carrying the fabric colour swatch around in my purse is a great idea too. I think I will do that once I get it.

Thanks again for your help.

Latte is normally yellower and creamier than that.
Mushroom has pinkier tint.

I would call it Taupe which define as greyish brown.
That is just my opinion after working with so many fabric samples and their suppliers biggrin.gif

Bringing colour samples is probably the best way since what you visualised in your colour name may not be the same as others.

Love the orange combination too!
