I am thinking about getting a dress from here http://www.angelsbridal.com.au/PlusSize.html

Im looking at a coloured wedding dress, maybe blue or red or possibly Ivory.

Which ones do you think would be the most flattering? Im average height, size 20-22ish I am also self conscious on my arms. I love PS 11 and 16 although am very very unsure of strapless (could possibly add straps if we could match the colour? Im also wondering 2 or 3 or 9 maybe ok?
Any ideas or suggestions??

I think the idea of wearing a different color to the traditional white is brilliant!

Personally I wore a strapless scarlett colored wedding dress and although I was extra nervous when I originally ordered it.. Looking back now I wouldn't change a thing!

The biggest and best tip I got from my dressmaker is NEVER wear really shiny material. All it does is accentuate your lumps and bumps and reveal contours that you're wanting to hide.


I really love PS30 and PS5. You can wear wraps for both.

My BMs and I wore delustered satin. still has that lush look without being really shiney.

Why don you go to a bridal store and try on lots of styles before choosing to buy online?

I wore a gold/brown colour for my wedding. White is a difficult colour to wear and it always makes me look some what ill. The material was silk.

Pinkbutterfly- I live 1100kms from the nearest dress shop so Im just scouting online to suss out some ideas before I head down there in April. I have ran out of time to do the whole wedding dress thing because our wedding is in July and theres no way I can get down there before or after my April visit for dress fittings etc.

But agree with not wearing shiny material.. it always clings to all the bits you want to hide!

As long as you feel comfortable and beautiful in it, it will look awesome!

It was YOUR dress I recall! You have one of the most lovely dresses I have ever seen on here. I loved the richness, the colour, the detail etc. I don't think I've seen a photo other than the one you've posted here. Any chance we could see a few more?!

As for the OP - re: strapless all I can suggest is try them on. I, personally, am NOT a fan of most styles of strapless dress on a big girl. While some can carry it off and look amazing, some (like me) can look like a top heavy milk maid in a strapless dress I think it depends on your shape and where you carry your weight.

I would recommend looking through the pics here of larger, real life brides. Look at both the dresses as well as the body shapes. It will help you get an idea of the huge range of styles available, as well as what suits others who may have a similar shape to you.

Sorry to Hijack the thread but what a lovely complement. I adored my wedding dress. I am thinking od doing a TTD session just to get the opportunity to wear the dress again! Living were I do there was no opportunity to go and try on wedding dresses here, there idea of a traditional wedding dress whas a white and very large puff ball with lots of stuff on it. So not me.

If ound a wonderful italian trained coutourist and she was amazing. I am a firm believer in having what makes you happy. I had a huge fight with my mum about the dress. She kicked up that I wasn't wearing a more traditonal dress. I stood firm and had my dress how I wanted it. Anyway, I paid When she actually saw the dress when we arrived back in Oz, she actually apologised

Hi! Halternecks tend to slim-down a torso, lift up your bust and they look lovely with a see-through wrap. Perhaps this could be an option? You will have to wear a strapless bra or none at all as the downside. And going with a non-white colour is a great idea (I wore gold!) and pastel colours are femine and soft.

If you're ordering off line, there is a great chance you will need adjustments. Is there anyone near you that could do that?

I think there is a lady in town who does adjustments. I dont have a big bust for my body type but I do have broad shoulders. Ill have to get some type of wrap or something, the day should be lovely and warm but the night freezing. Typical inland desert weather!
Its a small tightknit town, its amazing us how many people are offering to help and local buisnesses giving us discounts etc. It was the best decision ever to do it here rather than head to the city.
