So...my BF's sister is getting married in a few weeks which is how i found this site to start with! Over the past few months in particular i've taken a real interest in her plans and the past year or so i've been flicking through wedding mags with her, talking flowers, cakes, music, venues, celebrants blah blah blah...

It's been really fun and i've picked up alot of great ideas. I've found myself storing alot of things in my head already for when my turn comes! Obviously i'd never go ahead with anything and i'm keeping an open mind as i know BF will have his own ideas when we get there as it's his day too afterall!

Anyone else got the 'pretend' wedding ideas in their head?

Oh yes, I definitely have mental plans.

Some I have spoken to DBF about, and that's how I found out he wants the reception at the Eureka tower!

That sounds economical... unsure.gif

Yep - it's all done (in my head)..........down to the finest detail.

Just have to wait the 5 years to finance it.

Can I say, that I had absolutely no idea what I wanted when I got married.

In some respects I found this easier because I never had to go searching for that certain thing that I always had my mind set on etc etc.

However it made it really hard because when it came to planning the wedding I didn't know where to start. I even put off setting the date for a year because I didn't know when I wanted to get married.

And lets not even talk about the dress... the only thing I knew was that I didn't want to look like a powder puff... I am only 5'3 so a big dress would of made me look shorter.

Oh and I didn't want a veil, they are the only things I had even thought about, so I think a bit of pre-thinking is definitely needed smile.gif

Hah, yes I definitely had the 'pretend' wedding planned before I was engaged, although still with my now-fiance, (I even emailed a venue enquiring of their packages!!!) right down to the venue, dress and the bonbonierre. It's funny though, now that I am engaged and our wedding is only a matter of months away, we're pretty much organised with *everything* and not one thing is the same as what I had planned with the pretend wedding!

That's funny!

I only know for sure a few things.

1. our wedding well be under 40 guests as neither of us have much family.
2. My dress won't be A-Line as i hate them
3. I'd like to get married on Mount Tamborine
4. Since we'd only have a small wedding i only want 1 bridesmaid and 1 groomsman in the bridal party.

I'm happy to leave it there as anything else needs input from the BF i reckon.

Wonder if any of the girls will get proposed to tonight seeing as it's Valentines!!

We don't really do Valentines but i did get him a card which he loved smile.gif

I've got a few ideas floating around in my head about what I'd do.

BF and I have semi-spoken about a couple of things. I told him what kind of ring I'd like, and he said that the ring should be bought together, and last night we were talking about flowers and he thinks roses.

I know which designer I'd like to get my dress from, and I warned him that the dress will probably cost a minimum of $4k blink.gif Oh, and I told him that I could do an awesome wedding for $20k and he was happy with that laugh.gif

Everything else I've just got vague ideas about .. Won't be thinking about it too much though, because it'll be a few years away yet!!

I was Chief bridesmaid for my best friend. I too looked through all the mags and had my ideas "stored" for when the time was right for me.

My h2b and I have been engaged now for over 6 months and have heaps of mags and stuff at home now but just recently we have been cleaning out the clothes cupboard, h2b found a mag i had stashed in the cupboard from when my girlfriend was getting married. I had bought the mag for her but i didn't give it to her and hide it. When he found it he asked why I had put a mag in this strange place.

I could feel my face getting bright red but he believed me when I said it was a recent one! smile.gif

I've definitely got a few ideas - I've been hanging around here too long not to , and with two friends getting married this year, I'm thinking about it even more. I'm trying not to be too set on anything though

Can I post in here even though I'm single? Lol.

I've got pretty much my whole imaginary wedding planned: dress, colour scheme, ceremony music, type of venue... the list goes on. I've got it all written down and filed away somewhere, so if/when I need it, I can pull it out and use it to help me (although I'll probably end up changing my mind on everything!).

Mum worries that I think about it way too much and will be too crushed if I never meet The One, but it's all in good fun really. wink.gif

I wouldn't worry too much - as long as you keep an open mind so your future partner can put in their suggestions and personality into it too than a general idea of what you would like can't hurt i reckon!

I've got a few photos on the PC too. Was even thinking about doing a 'Mood Board' laugh.gif

I showed the boy a mockup of the ring I'd like today, and he thought it looked pretty special. The centre stone is this amazing rainbow emerald that I'm bidding on on Ebay at the moment for like $35 ohmy.gif So even if I win it and it arrives not looking quite as special as I'd hoped, I'll get it set in something, but he does now have an idea of the ring I'd like biggrin.gif
