Okay wise ladies need help and clarification on the education tax rebate.

From my understanding you have to qualify for family tax benefit A and the child that attends primary or secondary school.

My question is what about children that are enrolled in pre-school (kindy/pre-prep) that is enrolled and run through the primary school - would this mean that they also qualify?

My understanding was it was only for compulsory, fulltime schooling. Not early learning centres at schools, preschools etc.

However, just googled and it seems that in Canberra at least the preschool association advises that preschoolers (at preschools attached to primary) are eligible...

i thought that too however a canberra preschool operating on 15hours says you can a week as seen here

I think it is because the program is run under the primary school and thus the kids are also enrolled in the primary school to attend the preschool, hence why im so confused.

thanks for the link the confusing part is that link says the following for the schooling requirement:

"For the purposes of the ETR, a child or independent student must be:
registered or enrolled in a primary or secondary school course provided at an educational institution, such as a school or TAFE (secondary school study only)
or
registered or enrolled with the education authority of their State or Territory as a home schooled student,
or
registered or enrolled in a course of study or instruction covered under the Student Assistance Act 1973 and which the ETR applies to.
They also must have attended the course of study or instruction, or received home schooling for at least one day in a six-month period, commencing from 1 July or 1 January.
Even if a child only meets the schooling requirement for part of the year you can still claim for that period. This also applies to independent students."

In our situtation Milly is enrolled in the primary school to attend her pre-school and attends at least on day in a 6month period so therefore she would be eligble. but everything im reading is tax accountants are giving mixed advice as its not compulsory or full time.
