Hi,
I'm having my wedding in April. My partner told me we could have an autumn theme, but I am really want a nice deep red colour. No, I dont like Red/black... My father loves that idea, with me in white it would be a perfect "st kilda" football theme!! lol The only way to describe it is "Berry" I know having berry's at the wedding would be difficult because most are just out of season that time of year, but I have found alot of frozen berry options, that just need defrosting to add to things like the punch and decor for my cake. My real problem is: How to follow the theme onto the tables (centre pieces, table cloth etc) and around the hall. Note: the hall has a cream/white roof, half way up the walls are a dark timber. Any suggestions for a cheap option for my decorations...?? ![]() -------------------- |

Red apples in a bowl with a few roses? Apples in a Bowl?? Hmmmm, sounds different and nice, and cheap! I'll have to make a note of that, thanks!! I like the floating candles, I want that candle lit room look Its a night wedding, and it will be dark by the time guests get there, I do love the flowers submerged in water. Vases are around 7bucks hire or anywhere between 5-10 dollars depending on size. I have 15tables, this is why i wanted something cheap, and I thought about buying the vases and selling them on ebay?? wouldnt know, I'm just trying to save a few... But all your suggestions are good and are putting me into perspecive I dont know whether to leave the hall as is... dark wooden walls half way up and the other half a cream colour. It may look a bit plan. I thought about draping a 30cm (in width) deep red and white mix around the hall, and add a flower bunch on each tip on the drap?? dont know how else to describe that The drap is around 15Bucks per 100metres. Of course there is the issue of what to do with the bloody thing once its been used?? -------------------- |

Thanks again Monica!!
Vases are the way to go.... My nan has a Rose garden and this time of year the petals start to fall off, I thought her red roses and petals in a vase would be nice!! Thanks for the inspiration. Delema 2: the hall is lite up by horrible blinding fluoros... I really like the orange glow of candle lights and those old light bulbs. I really dont want my guests to be walking around in the dark. Would you suggest having maybe nice styled lamps (3) along each wall, and fill the tables with tea lights... Preferable the ones in the tall glass so if it tips over the flame is way down in the glass... ?? The back light for the toilets will be on... giving light off from the entrance. -------------------- |

You can get cheap vases/bowls from $2 shops.
The mirrored tiles are from Bunnings – I would really recommend them as they add more light to the glow of the candle. Are you in Sydney? I would be happy to give you mine though I don’t have 15 so might be easier to buy all the same. You can get a lot of hanging tea light holders, I am sure quite a few girls have had them at their weddings. The vases and flowers will look simple, yet elegant and with loads of candles, really great. As for the draping, I think that sounds really good to. As for the lamps, I know this sounds incredibly tight arse but could you buy them from Target/Kmart and then return them once you are done? Did I just suggest that, oopps! I know you can hire wrought iron candelabras, perhaps look in to that? Can you change the fluro globes? I don’t know how that works but might be possible? Or put something over them (material, cellophane?) -------------------- |

But Ooooh, you have some good ideas, I dont think I am game to return items to Target/Kmart, but that is actually a good idea, hehe I am Writting this all down, these are all really good suggestions monica!! I love this site, Its hard to brainstorm with my partner... especially when his ideas are alittle off... but atleast he tries -------------------- |

When on sale the lamps aren't that dear so perhaps you could use them around your house once you are done? I know we have one and we love it (I hate over head lights) yeah, My mother loves old looking antiquey things, so if i get some nice ones, mum may purchase two and replace the two she has in her house!! Bonus. Thanks once again!! Could also ask my large family if they have any nice floor lamps, I could have an Allsort of lamps around the Hall! Same more money!! -------------------- |
