Do you have a feeling about the sex?
Maybe same as last time

Will you find out the sex?
I asked DH at the beginning of the week as he was the reason we didn't find out last time. However he wants to find out this time so if the gender is different I can move all the "save for next time" stuff along

Do you have any names picked out?
We had the name we didn't use last time, just have to find out if I still like it as much, or if we have to pick one of a different gender

Public or Private?
Public. We don't have PHI and everything was ok last time going public

Are you going to have a baby shower?
No

Have you made any purchases yet?
AM on the cusp of buying a pram just have to get DH ok. It is a great deal for a hardly used strider plus with everything.

Dream: We have a strider plus. Love it and hate it at times. It can be a bit tricky to get through small shopping areas but it is great for taking on long walks and over terrain. Its a monster really but a good solid pram compared to some of the others available. Hope you like it.

Hi ladies, I've come to join this group!

This is my second pregnancy, due 24th September at this stage. I'm excited, but so wracked with nerves, can't believe I'm doing it all over again! Hoping to get to know all of you...

Do you have a feeling about the sex?
Thinking boy at this stage. Had a dream once I would only ever have boys, and that has come true so far!

Will you find out the sex?
I'm undecided. Loved having my firstborn as a surprise, best thing I did. But was tempted last night, and even more so this time for practical reasons. If it's a girl will have to buy much more than if it's another son for us.

Do you have any names picked out?
If it's a girl we will use the name we had picked out last time. We had the worst time choosing a boy's name last time, don't know how we're going to find another!

Public or Private?
This is interesting for us. I went public last time, overall was happy with my care, though I had a horrid time in the postnatal ward with the awful midwives. Only fault I can find though. Wanting to go private next time, we took out private health insurance. But I fell pregnant much more quickly than anticipated, and I am due exactly one year to the day I took out private health cover. As there is a 12 month waiting period I am still yet to ring the insurer and find out my options.

Are you going to have a baby shower?
Probably not, as I had the big do last time and it was not that long ago! But would like some sort of gathering to celebrate the new one's arrival without gifts.

Have you made any purchases yet?
No but given that my son is only 13 months old I have a lot left over from last time. Yay! Things I do want to buy are: a bassinett attachment for my Mountain Buggy, some form of baby carrier as I didn't have one last time and thinking I might need it with 2 under 2, that's all I can think of so far.

Hold on tight, hope your scan goes well. I am going to wait until after 7 weeks to have mine, I might book in this week or next.

Oh Yay!

Congratulations and Welcome Simone smile.gif

AFM - I just went for my first scan, bit disappointed as I am measuring a day behind what I thought, I was hoping I would actually be further along... wishful thinking I know.

So my sac is measuring at 5w5d and they see a yolk sack but no fetal pole.

My everything is crossed for my next scan in roughly two weeks.

Hold on tight: Have my fingers crossed for you. Hope everything is great at the next scan.

Welcome Simone. We have an 11 month old so we will be another in the 2 under 2 category. I'm a bit nervous about that to tell the truth. DD can be very head strong and over active so I'm hoping that maybe she gets a little bit chilled out by the time the next one arrives.

AFM: Still here, still hanging in there. Go to see the Obs next week. Supposed to be 9 weeks by that stage so we shall see what happens. When I went to my first appt with DD I was measuring 2 weeks behind so we will see what happens this time. Will let you all know how it goes.

Fingers crossed everything is ok Hold on tight.

I had a small amount of spotting again last week only a very tiny amount.

I have still had almost no symptoms. My Tummy is a little firmer. It isn;t a cute flat tummy (never has been) but it was floppy after I had our bubba and is now a bit harder, SO I am taking care as somethings are a bit tight.

Apart from that I have been sick the last week. I was the last one standing and copped it friday and have had this horrible summer cold for a week.

Welcome Simone.

(stalking)

Hun I read your post and just wanted to reply to hopefully help ease your mind a bit - at my early scans my sac measured 5w6d and it looked completely empty! Not even a yolk sac. The following week there was my bubba with a good strong heartbeat. AND weirdly the baby was measuring 7w3d, but according to the previous weeks sac measurment it should have been 6w6d! Nature is a funny thing!!!! All the best smile.gif

Hi and welcome ran! If you have any questions try me as I went through it all for the first time not long ago. Where I am in northwest Sydney it seems to be routine to give mothers the option of what they call 'dating' scans, or early scans. Luckily round here they do them at radiology places that bulk bill so there's no cost. Maybe request one if it's not offered? I've been to different GP's with my two pregnancies and both times I was offered one.

Dream- Hope this is the last of your spotting, the first trimester in particular moves slowly and is an anxious time. I feel your pain- I've had a cold for almost two weeks now, it sucks!

Mrsmac- I know how you feel, I wonder sometimes what I've got myself into doing this all again so soon! But I thought it over before we started trying and I think I'm doing the best thing for us.
Fingers crossed for good news at your next scan.

Hold on tight- I remember feeling disappointed when my due date got put back in the first trimester. It is still very early so it's not unusual for there not to be much to see- stay positive!

Thanks ladies for the welcome. I feel so unorganised this time round, after falling pregnant so quickly! I still have yet to ring my insurer and haven't yet re-opened any of my pregnancy books, might book in my scan for the week after next today.

I am having scans every second week due to previous complications.

Ran, The scans are called dating scans. Handy if you don't know the date of your last period. I didn't have one last time, however this time I didn't know it so was sent for one. There are some arguments that too many ultrasounds are not a good thing if they are not required, and if I have of known my date this time I also would not have had one. Some people also have more scans if they have had an assisted conception or miscarriages. A lot of women also don't have the NT scan either so they only have the morphology scan at around 20 weeks.

Almost a week and no more spotting so am hoping that is the ned of the spotting.

I ended up laybying the strider plus. Out local store had a special buy the strider get the toddler seat free so for about $1100 I get the complete package.
