I'll read pretty much anything, one thing I'd like to get out of this is to read some different types of books that I might not normally go for...expand my horizons kinda! Looking through that top 100 list there are heaps of 'classics' on there that I've never actually read e.g. Cathcer in the Rye, To Kill a Mockingbird, Animal Farm, Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, lots that I've read and lots that I'd like to read. So in conclusion I'm not fussy about what book it is! -------------------- Piper 08/12/12 Scooby 08/04/13 Playing together on Rainbow Bridge |

Sounds like a great idea. I love reading, just in the last 9mths haven't had much time to read. How cranky would people be if I fell behind?

how about starting with books that were made into movies, and then discussing and comparing movie vs book? (reading the book first)
from Oprah's list, eg: east of eden white oleander where the heart is theres lots more - books that were books first, then made into movies. i know that if we're interested in being part of a bookclub, most of us may have already read the more recent books and seen the movies too, but here's some more i might mention (in my opinion, good books!) the devine secrets of the yaya sisterhood memoirs of a geshia 24 hours (movie known as "trapped") there's more, but i haven't yet had coffee and cant think of them! |

I am interested but might skip the first depending on the final choice and if I have already read it (or if it just happened to be a uni text!? Hey I have biographies to read, its possible!) I just have so many books to read for uni at the moment - I'll read your posts though!!

I'm interested too - but my reading list is already so huge that I don't know if I'd ever get around to reading yet another book. Still, I'll definitely join in the conversation if I have already read it or do get time to.

I'd like to join, but probably skip the first go as I'm reading Harry Potter 7 and I'm going back to uni this week. Won't have time to read another book as well.... unless we do the first one about HP!

I'd also love to join in (depending how heavy my uni readings get this semester).
I have so many books on my to read list at the moment... this might be just the motivation I need. I've read a fair few of the Top 100 (though not HP I must admit..) and a couple on Oprah's list... but I'd love to read more! |

Zoey Joy 18. Jasmine 19. Mrso I think this is everyone who has expressed interest so far. If I have missed you or you don't want to join just amend the list please. So far we have had the following books suggested East of Eden White Oleander Where the Heart Is The Devine Secrets of the Yaya Sisterhood Memoirs of a Geshia 24 Hours And some that I would like to read some day To Kill a Mockingbird Nineteen Eighty-four The Catcher in the Rye Marley and Me Forbidden Love A Mighty Heart; The Daniel Pearl Story I like historical novels, especially about Irish history, and most other fiction and biographies. Anything by Steven King or Matthew Reilly or Gerald Seymour I love! There is an amazing book called The Wild that I would highly recommend, it sounds bizarre but I thought it was brilliant! http://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/s/whitle...rieber/wild.htm I think everyone should suggest some books and then we can do a poll and choose one. And the one we don't read first can be the second etc so we can get a wide range of books, we are all going to have different tastes etc but one of the things I'd like to get out of this is to read some books that I wouldn't normally choose for myself. -------------------- Piper 08/12/12 Scooby 08/04/13 Playing together on Rainbow Bridge |

LOL Leeanne that IS a huge list
I've read To Kill a Mockingbird, Memoirs, Catcher in the Rye, Hitchhiker's, Wuthering Heights, Cloudstreet, Cross Stitch 10000 times (god I LOVE this series!!).. any of them I'd be happy to read again, except for Memoirs and Cloudstreet I think we're going to need a poll or something! My suggestions are: Life of Pi - Yann Martel Catch 22 - Joseph Heller The God of Small Things - Arundhati Roy Zen & the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance - Robert Pirsig -------------------- ![]() |
