I watched The Voice for the first time tonight and I love it! biggrin.gif

It's changed my opinion of Keith Urban who actually seems like a down to earth nice guy. Love Seal - he is awesome - and he cracked me up when he got up to dance tonight. tongue.gif

Anyone else watching it?

I'm watching bits and pieces. Joel seems a lot more down to earth than I expected. Delta seems very fake.

I'm watching it which is crazy as I usually hate things like that but I must say I am hooked. Love all of them and they are all a lot more down to earth than I would have thought.

I loved how tonight when that mum who was upset about her daughter not getting through was a little rude and they all could have put her in her place but instead were really respectful and polite. There are not many stars I can think of who would have handled the situation that way and it made me love them all even more!!

We are another household that is watching it. We normally have nothing to do with reality TV but this one has sucked us in, mainly because they aren't relying on being rude to get ratings, and the contestents can actually sing and aren't all teenage wannabe's.

Hubby thinks looks will come into it once the blind auditions are over, which should be interesting to see how they handle that part.

We've watched it on occasion - we like how respectful and supportive all the judges have been. Re Delta, DH & I both think that she comes across a little intimidated or inexperienced and relies on another judge's perspective/reaction rather than going off her own gut.

This is exactly what hubby and I were saying last night as to why we also love it Steph!

It seems so different from the other shows that seem to be trying to produce the latest teenage crush/money making machine. wink.gif

OK I am totally addicted biggrin.gif Tried to avoid it when it came out as I was so over all of those talent quest type shows wacko.gif I ended up flicking between stations on night, saw about 2 minutef of it and was totally hooked, just loving it!

I am really loving the 4 Judges and how they interact so well with each other... so different and yet they all get along so well and bond so well over music. Makes for a great dynamic. I am also having a good laugh about how smooth Seal is, especially with the Ladies... my my! Joel is also sweet and genuine and Keith.... I am just loving him! biggrin.gif

Favourite contestants so far? I am having a hard time remembering amidst all the love for this show laugh.gif

I'm surprised that more contestants don't act a little put off when no one turns around. The thing that really irks me though is when the judges say "I really should have pushed my button". It's such a cop out. If they really wanted to, they would have. I wish they would actually give a reason why they didn't turn. They mostly just tell them that they're amazing and don't give up. I sometimes wonder if they don't push the button because the contestant has a better voice than them tongue.gif

I do get a little confused about why they turn around for some and not others. There are some that I just think "nup" and they get on, and then others that I think are great don't get anybody. Unless there's something we don't get by watching on tv.

Anyone else notice that Joel always seems to be conferring with the audience about if the contestant is playing the guitar or whether he should turn around or not.

Yep watching here too. I love the whole concept although I am sure the have edited the order of the audition process to make it look like Delta wasn't chosen until the visually impaired girl sang.

I really like Joel and Keith but find Seal a bit arrogant - he's a bit of eye candy though

I normally dislike these kinds of talent shows - but have gotten into this show (DH teases me but end up watching it too). I'm amazed at the talent, and frankly it's great that we don't have to the ummm, silly stuff like on the other shows.

Joel has been enjoyable to watch, and Keith seems very nice, and genuinely so. Seal is a little arrogant, but he provides good feedback I think.

There was a wonderful singer last night (can't remember her name, but she sings in Christian choirs). Her voice was exquisite.

Totally agree with this - sometimes I wish she'd close her eyes and listen. And a couple of times she commented on the performers appearance, "You look beautiful and have a beautiful soul" so I think she doesn't quite just trust herself to judge and make a decision based on their voice. She is often second to turn once someone else has turned. But towards the the it was good to see her turning around on her own - because she has heard something SHE likes.

Awesome show, I hope Prinnie wins. smile.gif

I've watched bits of it from the website because the introductions to each singer annoys me. I like it, too and I usually steer well clear of reality TV and talent shows. I like that the judges bicker and compete.

Ali, sometimes they don't turn around because it's a competition between each other, too, and they need to choose voices they think they can mentor and win with. Like a heavy rocker probably wouldn't win Delta's vote because it's not her style of music.

I can usually understand Seal's point of view and he has so much experience, his feedback is usually constructive. I've had a crush on Seal for 18-years, so I'm biased, and his fluorescent nail polish amuses me. I saw him in concert last week and it was one of the best experiences of my life (3rd row from the front, I was nearly hyperventilating. tongue.gif ). I don't understand why he turned around for Emma-Louise though; I thought her performance and voice completely lacked depth.

Delta is trying to be too nice, I think.

It also appeared to us that Delta was trying to flirt with a few of the contestents before they chose their mentor. The way she would sit and look at them, then I think it was the former boy band guy who she said something along the lines of pick me as I have some really beautiful female friends, his retort was brilliant, well I already have a beautiful girlfriend so that won't really help.

I hate the long drawn out will they won't they press their buzzers, seriously when they did choose someone it was usually a huge slam of the hand onto the buzzer no half arsed buzzer pressing.

I've been really enjoying it. I'm a total reality junkie but not for singing shows so I'v e never watched Autralian Idol or X factor or any of those before. I do like the premise of this show much more.

I totally agree with these comments. I noticed Delta was waiting for someone else to push their button before she did which was really annoying me. I guess after a while she figured out she needed to push hers first (or be the only one pushing) to get anyone to go on her team. ph34r.gif

I really liked Seal at first but I'm starting to feel really creeped out by him as it feels like he's been a bit sleazy towards some of the young girls. Shudder.
